Abstract

Many scholars have conducted studies on the accuracy of the news media, such as newspaper, television, and magazine, but not online media. In fact, online media is a significant news media in the moment, especially in Indonesia. Online press companies are even the largest press companies in Indonesia compared to newspapers, radio, and television. Therefore, this study is conducted to measure the inaccuracies that occur in news in online news media. Researchers examined 63 online journalistic media that have been administratively and factually verified by the Dewan Pers (Press Council). It uses a content analysis method by coding the headlines in Indonesian online journalistic media. This study finds online mass media categories based on the theme segmentation, namely: 1) general, 2) economics, technology, and business, 3) sports, 4) politics, law, and crime, 5) lifestyle and entertainment, and 6) regional. The results of this study indicate that the inaccuracy of news in Indonesian online media is high. Media with economics, technology, and business most often make grammatical errors. This study also finds that speed does not only has an impact on grammatical inaccuracies, but also on unbalanced news reporting, where the imbalance in Indonesian online media news itself is very high.

Abstract

Abstract

Social networking is a platform where various users with different information needs, and access purposes come together. With this condition, to ensure the security and privacy comfort of users, Anonymity has emerged as a "minimal facility" to secure personal information when users are networking. However, as the characteristics of users evolve over time, there is a shift in usage preferences and compliance with regulations and ethics in social networking spaces. This also leads to the simultaneous growth of malfunctions in Anonymity that lead to unethical actions and even criminal activities. With various issues arising, this paper aims to explore the shift in usage patterns and user characteristics contributing to the emergence of Anonymity deviations in the digital space, using the concepts of digital culture and ethics. Using a literature review method, this research aims to form a comprehensive understanding of the use of Anonymity in the digital space. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm, focusing on collecting conceptual and theoretical data as well as supporting data related to freedom of expression, anonymity, participatory culture, and the dominance of subjective knowledge in the digital space over a span of 15 years (2008-2023). The study's results are expected to provide recommendations acceptable to all stakeholders and serve as a basis for further discussion in the same context in the future. The research concludes that Anonymity in the digital space presents challenges related to intellectual property rights, an increase in cybercrime cases, and uncontrolled access to controversial content such as pornography, making government regulation difficult due to technical constraints.

Abstract

Disaster management in Indonesia faces complex challenges due to the high risks of various natural disasters. In this context, a web-based knowledge management system (KMS) has been identified as a potential solution to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of information management during emergencies. This research presents a systematic literature review aiming to evaluate the implementation of web-based KMS in disaster management in Indonesia. Through careful analysis of several related studies and reports, this research identifies trends, challenges, and best practices in the implementation of web-based KMS. The analysis results indicate that web-based KMS has significant potential for facilitating real-time information collection, storage, and distribution, which are crucial in disaster emergency situations. However, challenges such as uneven technological infrastructure, a lack of trained human resources, and inadequate policy support hinder effective implementation. Proposed strategic recommendations include strengthening technological infrastructure, providing continuous training for KMS users, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration. Strong policy support from the government is also deemed essential to encourage widespread adoption and use of KMS.

Abstract

Communication is growing with the advancement of digitalization. This led to the emergence of behavioral construction in society in response to a phenomen. Various patterns of social communication are deliberately carried out to achieve certain interests, but in fact, social communication does not always run in a positive direction and benefit many parties. In the anti-vaccine community in some areas of Surabaya shows that social communication carried out in a negative direction is in the act of mass vaccine rejection. This is certainly interesting, because social communication that is done with manners, manners, and background emotions and solidarity actually leads to the act of constructing behavior. This study will examine digitalization and communication on the construction of anti-vaccine community behavior in the city of Surabaya. The approach taken is qualitative, while the ethnographic method is chosen to obtain relevant data on a daily phenomenon. The results of this study found that digital media in conducting intensive social communication was able to foster behavioral reconstruction. Sharing behavior that was initially believed to be true was deliberately spread, but with the existence of information in digital media, it is able to destroy the power of subjective reality that is created. Communication in digital media is certainly not the only factor, but with the intensification of social communication, social reconstruction can occur again and again.

Abstract

This article reports the study of the use of WhatsApp Group (WAG) among primary school students who utilize the platform as a digital heterotopia. The study investigated: How is WAG used as a platform for sharing and exchanging YouTube content among primary school students?; How WAG is represented as a digital space for during their practices of sharing and exchanging YouTube content? The purpose of this research is to explore information dissemination activities, especially YouTube content WAG as a digital space for information sharing has become a heterotopia digital space. This qualitative research was conducted in Surabaya, Malang, Kediri, and Jember. Data was collected from indepth interview of 50 primary school students. This study found that firstly, the students do not only use their WAG to disseminate YouTube content for academic purposes, but also to turn WAG as a space of digital leisure. Children as the iGeneration immerse themselves into the cyberspace to interesting videos on YouTube, as well as game-related content which they share to their friends through WAG. Secondly, the existence of WAG for these students does not only serve as a space for educational purposes – exchanging academic content, but also as a space for social interaction, self-representation and con-structing self-identity. WAG among primary school students is a digital heterotopia as they can use it as a space for sharing and exchanging various YouTube content for their social loop, and social validation from their digital peers.
