Abstract

This study explores the influence of learning the Korean language and culture on students’ perceptions of social issues in South Korea. Drawing on the theory of cultural relativism in language acquisition and intercultural understanding, this quantitative research employed an online survey administered to 28 students enrolled in Korean language courses at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The participants came from diverse academic backgrounds and demonstrated varying levels of Korean proficiency. Data were analysed using T-tests and linear regression, with interpretation supported by relevant literature. The results indicate a significant positive correlation: students with higher proficiency in Korean language and culture exhibited greater awareness and understanding of South Korean social issues. This suggests that language and cultural education can enhance international awareness and empathy. Despite offering valuable insights, the study has certain limitations, including potential self-reporting bias and its general focus on broad social issues rather than specific topics such as workplace dynamics. Nonetheless, the findings are relevant for language educators, policymakers, and students seeking to deepen their cross-cultural competence.

Abstract

Penjagaan kesehatan, terutama deteksi dini anemia selama kehamilan, perlu ditingkatkan guna menekan angka kejadian abortus.

Abstract

The 21st Century Skills Framework identifies foreign language proficiency and intercultural communication as core competencies essential for individuals’ future lives and careers. In response, higher education institutions have increasingly emphasized the development of graduates equipped with strong communication abilities and intercultural understanding to meet the demands of the global labor marker. Beyond linguistic competence, a deep understanding of the cultural contexts and communication patterns inherent in the target languages –such as Japanese and Korean—is critical. This study aims to explore and analyze the perspectives of university students learning Japanese and Korean regarding the communication styles and cultural backgrounds embedded in these languages. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study collected quantitative data through questionnaires distributed to students enrolled in “Introduction to Communication” (Japanese) and Korean language courses. Qualitative data were gathered through focus group discussions and student essays on intercultural communication, conducted as part of the classroom activities. The findings reveal that students develop intercultural communicative competence by integrating cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions, fostered through reflective learning practices in both language courses.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) learning approach on student learning outcomes in the digestive system material for eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 23 Makassar. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population consisted of 341 eighth grade students, with a sample of 76 students selected purposively and divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through learning outcome tests administered at the pre-test and post-test stages to measure improvements in student understanding. In addition, documentation was used to reinforce the research findings. Data analysis was performed using prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity tests) and the Independent Samples T-Test using statistical software. The results showed that the average learning score of students in the experimental class was 84.13, while in the control class it was 81.76. Hypothesis testing showed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. < α = 0.001). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the ATI approach is effective in improving student learning outcomes in digestive system material

Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of new South Korean female idols as reflected in the dance crew on Street Woman Fighter and how the discourse on street woman dancers is depicted through this broadcast in accordance with Stuart Hall's representation theory. The theory of representation used is specifically a constructionist approach through the production of meaning and the production of discourse. The research method used is a qualitative method with a literature study data collection technique with the main text of the SWF program broadcast on Mnet which is accessed via VIU's paid over-the-top video service in December 2021. In addition, the author also examines various sources of literature as secondary data sources. such as books, journal articles, articles from websites and social media as a complement to data analysis. The results of the study show that the representation of new Korean idols represented by dance crews participating in Street Woman Fighter is very close to the images of street dancers and hip hoppers which are dominated by men. The image of street culture and hip hopper can be seen from the style of dress, style of makeup, tattoos on the body, style of speech and dance battle shown. Even though it brings fresh air to the world of television content by appointing background dancers as the main characters, Street Woman Fighter is not free from representational problems. Some of the problems that arise are the incompatibility between the promotional material and the title of the program being broadcast, there is a process of changing the image of female idols who are feminine, refined and beautiful, there is a process of masculinizing the image of female dancers participating in SWF events, and the role of the media in building the image of a street dancer or This street fighter is especially in the content editing process. Abstract

This exploratory qualitative study investigates the potential of interactive multimedia infused with local wisdom to foster digital literacy among Grade 4 students at UPT SD Negeri 192 Gresik, Indonesia. Amidst the growing demand for culturally relevant digital education, the integration of local cultural elements into multimedia aims not only to enhance students’ digital competencies but also to preserve indigenous values in learning. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving students, classroom teachers, and the principal. The findings reveal that the use of culturally embedded multimedia significantly improved student engagement, contextual understanding, and ethical awareness in digital interaction. The multimedia served not merely as a technological tool but as a medium of value transmission, promoting a sense of identity and cultural pride. The study also highlights positive teacher perceptions regarding pedagogical practicality and cultural relevance. Data were analyzed thematically, showing key patterns of increased digital participation and strengthened local identity. The study concludes that the convergence of local wisdom and digital content can effectively cultivate early digital literacy while reinforcing cultural awareness. It recommends that educational stakeholders consider localized digital content development as a strategic innovation in 21st-century learning. This research contributes to the discourse on culturally responsive digital pedagogy and provides practical insights for integrating sociocultural contexts into elementary education. Further research with broader contexts and mixed methodologies is suggested to validate and expand these findings.
