Abstract

The process of agricultural development benefits greatly from agricultural extension activities, particularly when it comes to improving the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the primary actors and business people. The purposes of the research were to measure the performance of agricultural extension workers and formulate the strategies to improve the performance of agricultural extension workers in Sesayap Sub-district Tana Tidung District. The data used were primary data and secondary data. The methods of analyzing the data used were Likert and SWOT analysis. The results of the research showed that the performance of agricultural extension workers in Sesayap Subdistrict was 62 with a good category and the strategies to improve the performance of agricultural extension workers in Sesayap Subdistrict were to implement the SO (Strength-Opportunities) strategy, namely: (a) Agricultural extension workers have good education with over two years of work to optimize technology and innovation. (b) The number of extension workers is sufficient, extension workers have enthusiasm and dedication to work and are able to utilize the existing facilities and infrastructure at BPP to enhance the ability and capacity of extension workers. (c) With adequate education of extension workers, the extension workers have enthusiasm and dedication to work and are relatively young so that they can optimize learning media through online.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Selumit Pantai, Kecamatan Tarakan Tengah, yang selama ini menghadapi stigma negatif sebagai “kampung narkoba”. Permasalahan utama terletak pada minimnya aktivitas produktif dan keterbatasan lahan yang berimplikasi pada rendahnya kesejahteraan serta tingginya risiko sosial. Melalui pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR), program pelatihan hidroponik diterapkan sebagai solusi pemberdayaan berbasis partisipasi warga. Kegiatan mencakup Focus Group Discussion, pembangunan instalasi, penyemaian, pembuatan nutrisi, hingga panen. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan teknis, motivasi, serta munculnya aktivitas ekonomi rumah tangga melalui penjualan hasil hidroponik. Secara sosial, kegiatan ini berhasil memperkuat kohesi warga dan mengubah citra lingkungan menjadi lebih positif. Pelatihan hidroponik terbukti efektif sebagai strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat pesisir melalui peningkatan kapasitas, ketahanan pangan, dan transformasi sosial yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Household waste management has become a significant challenge in maintaining environmental cleanliness and improving community welfare. This community service program aims to implement waste processing based on the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) with added economic value in the Community Self-Help Group (KSM) Paguntaka, Tarakan City. The activities include education, training, and mentoring in managing organic waste. Organic waste is processed into compost using a simple fermentation method.. The program's results indicate an increase in community understanding of the 3R concept and the ability to process waste into economically valuable products. Furthermore, additional income from the sale of recycled products has contributed to improving the welfare of KSM members. This program also positively impacts reducing the volume of waste that ends up in the landfill, thus supporting environmental conservation efforts. In conclusion, the 3R-based waste management approach involving community empowerment has proven effective in generating economic and environmental benefits. This program is expected to be replicated in other communities to support sustainable waste management.

Abstract

The main problem currently faced is the increasing use of digital devices, especially among children under the age of 10, which can cause addiction and have a negative impact on children's development. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to increase the understanding and knowledge of parents who have children under the age of 10 regarding the hydroponic garden system and its potential to reduce gadget addiction in children. This activity uses interactive lecture and discussion methods to present materials related to the basic concepts, benefits, and techniques for implementing hydroponic farming. The discussion session gives participants the opportunity to ask questions and express their opinions so that their understanding of hydroponics deepens. The discussion includes the potential of hydroponic farming in developing children's creativity, environmental awareness, social interaction, and sense of responsibility. Hydroponic gardening activities are expected to divert children's attention from gadgets to productive and educational activities. In conclusion, hydroponics has great potential to reduce children's gadget addiction. Children's involvement in hydroponic gardening activities can develop healthier and more productive skills and habits, effectively diverting their attention from gadget screens.

Abstract

The potential of rice in the Eastern Sebatik district is quite high, supported by the presence of the domestic industry of processing rice plant into rice. However, the industry often encounters barriers, one of which is related to marketing. Rice marketing has always used a direct sales system. Along with the rapid development of technology, marketing activities continue to undergo significant changes. The consumer market itself is a method used lately by entrepreneurs to balance the current of development in an era where markets are no longer determined by traders but by consumers' markets. The problem formulation obtained based on the context of research is how to build competitive advantages of rice up to the micro level so that rice products available in Eastern Sebatik can be absorbed into the market according to the principle of the consumer market by considering three main factors: brand, product, and consumer. The objective of this research is to (1) Explore internal and external factors; (2) Analyze strategic factors based on SWOT analysis and analyze the most appropriate rice marketing strategy used in the Eastern Sebatik district. The research uses descriptive quantitative methods where descriptive analysis is required to describe the conditions of the rice industry to be used as the object of research, identifying internal and external factors. Quantitative analysis is needed to formulate marketing strategies using SWOT method. The research was carried out in April–June 2023 in Sebatik Eastern District, Nunukan District, Northern Kalimantan Province. Research results showed that the rice marketing strategy that can be used in Gapoktan Mamminasae is the SO strategy. Keywords : Marketing; Rice; SWOT INTISARIPotensi padi sawah di Kecamatan Sebatik Timur cukup tinggi dan didukung dengan keberadaan industri rumah tangga pengolahan padi menjadi beras. Namun, industri kerap kali menemui kendala salah satunya terkait dengan pemasaran. Pemasaran beras selama ini hanya menggunakan sistem penjualan langsung. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat membuat kegiatan pemasaran juga terus mengalami perubahan yang signifikan. Consumers market sendiri merupakan metode yang belakangan digunakan oleh para pelaku usaha untuk mengimbangi arus perkembangan zaman, di sini pasar tidak lagi ditentukan oleh pedagang tetapi oleh pasar konsumen. Rumusan masalah yang didapat berdasarkan konteks riset adalah bagaimana membangun keunggulan daya saing (competitive advantages) beras sampai pada tingkat mikro agar produk beras yang ada di Sebatik Timur bisa terserap pasar sesuai dengan prinsip consumers market dengan mempertimbangkan 3 faktor utama, yaitu brand, product, dan consumer. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Menelaah faktor internal dan eksternal; (2) Menganalisis faktor strategi berdasarkan analisis SWOT dan menganalisis strategi pemasaran beras yang paling tepat digunakan di Kecamatan Sebatik Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif, di sini analisis deskriptif diperlukan untuk menjabarkan kondisi industri beras yang akan digunakan sebagai objek penelitian, mengidentifikasi faktor internal dan eksternal. Analisis kuantitatif diperlukan untuk merumuskan strategi pemasaran dengan menggunakan metode matriks SWOT. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April – Juni 2023 di Kecamatan Sebatik Timur, Kabupaten Nunukan, Provinsi Kalimantan Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan strategi pemasaran beras yang dapat digunakan di Gapoktan Mamminasae adalah strategi SO. Kata Kunci : Beras; SWOT; Pemasaran.

Abstract

Islamic education within the family constitutes a pivotal aspect in shaping the religious identity and character of children within the Muslim community. This is particularly relevant within the context of the lower-middle-class Muslim community of Tarakan, situated in the vicinity of the Madrasah Aliyah Hurrasul Aqidah. Islamic education within the family transcends mere tradition, representing a key element in the endeavor to construct a comprehensive Islamic way of life and reinforce Islamic values within the hearts and minds of children. The research objective is to comprehend the vital role of Islamic education management within the family, particularly among the lower-middle-class Muslim community of Tarakan at Madrasah Aliyah Hurrasul Aqidah, in shaping a comprehensive Islamic way of life and cultivating the character of children deeply rooted in Islamic values. Data collection is executed through various methods, including observations, structured and unstructured interviews, as well as document collection. The data analysis process encompasses stages of data reduction, data presentation, formulation of conclusions, and validation. The subjects of this study encompass the lower-middle-class Muslim community members who practice Islam and have children enrolled in Madrasah Aliyah Hurrasul Aqidah Tarakan, School Administrative Personnel, and Class X Guardians. Meanwhile, the research focal point is the management of Islamic education within the family environment of the student's guardians. Firstly, the lower-middle-class Muslim community of Tarakan at Madrasah Aliyah Hurrasul Aqidah views Islamic education management within the family as an essential component, playing a central role in realizing a comprehensive Islamic lifestyle and shaping the character of children deeply immersed in Islamic values. The model of Islamic education management within the family among this community entails intensive interaction between parents and children, along with a comprehensive Islamic educational process. Secondly, the research also identifies factors influencing the process of Islamic education management within the family, categorized into two groups: internal factors, including the role of parents and the characteristics of children, and external factors encompassing non-nuclear family dynamics, family environment, the surrounding community, and the availability of facilities. The identification of these factors is crucial for understanding the challenges and opportunities faced by the Tarakan Muslim community in strengthening Islamic education within their families.

Abstract

Abstract: The persistent challenge of low reading motivation and comprehension among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners necessitates innovative pedagogical interventions. This study investigates the implementation of Discovery Learning Method within extensive reading programs as a means to enhance both reading motivation and comprehension among Indonesian university students. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted over two iterative cycles, the research involved 31 undergraduate students enrolled in an English Class. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, reading motivation questionnaires, classroom observations, and reflective journals. The intervention integrated Discovery Learning principles—stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization—into extensive reading sessions where students autonomously selected reading materials and constructed meaning through guided discovery. Quantitative findings revealed substantial improvements across both cycles: mean reading comprehension scores increased from 53.87 (Cycle I) to 73.55 (Cycle II), while reading motivation scores rose from 65.3 to 81.2. Qualitative data indicated enhanced student engagement, increased autonomous learning behaviors, and improved critical thinking skills. The study demonstrates that Discovery Learning Method, when systematically integrated into extensive reading programs, creates a synergistic effect that simultaneously addresses motivational and cognitive dimensions of reading. These findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of constructivist approaches in L2 reading pedagogy and offer practical implications for curriculum designers and English language educators seeking evidence-based strategies to foster meaningful reading engagement in EFL contexts. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi implementasi Metode Discovery Learning dalam program membaca ekstensif sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus iteratif dan melibatkan 31 mahasiswa pada kelas bahasa Inggris. Data dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test, angket motivasi membaca, observasi kelas, serta jurnal reflektif. Intervensi penelitian mengintegrasikan prinsip-prinsip Discovery Learning—stimulasi, perumusan masalah, pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, verifikasi, dan generalisasi—ke dalam sesi membaca ekstensif, di mana mahasiswa secara mandiri memilih bahan bacaan dan mengonstruksi pemahaman melalui proses penemuan yang terarah. Temuan kuantitatif menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada kedua siklus: rata-rata skor pemahaman membaca meningkat dari 53,87 (Siklus I) menjadi 73,55 (Siklus II), sedangkan skor motivasi membaca meningkat dari 65,3 menjadi 81,2. Data kualitatif mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan keterlibatan mahasiswa, berkembangnya perilaku belajar mandiri, serta peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Metode Discovery Learning, ketika diintegrasikan secara sistematis dalam program membaca ekstensif, menghasilkan efek sinergis yang secara simultan mengakomodasi dimensi motivasional dan kognitif dalam aktivitas membaca. Temuan ini berkontribusi terhadap penguatan pemahaman teoretis mengenai pendekatan konstruktivis dalam pedagogi membaca bahasa kedua serta memberikan implikasi praktis bagi perancang kurikulum dan pendidik bahasa Inggris yang mencari strategi berbasis bukti untuk menumbuhkan keterlibatan membaca yang bermakna dalam konteks EFL. Abstract

STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach that integrates various disciplines to equip Students to face the challenges of the digital era and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The success of this innovative learning implementation depends on how a teacher designs a cohesive instructional scenario. In designing STEM learning that integrates the latest technology, Teachers need specific competencies outlined in the TPACK framework. The purpose of this research is to develop a learning design model based on the TPACK framework that integrates STEM approaches via IoT instruments, using a case study of the Smart Hydroponic System project, to hone Students' computational thinking logic using block code. In the research method employed, qualitative descriptive and experimental technical approaches with exploratory characteristics are used. This study succeeded in formulating seven elements of TPACK to convert complex STEM materials into "Playing Logic" activities that align with the cognitive capacity of elementary school Students. The development of the Arduino- and Tinkercad-based prototypes demonstrated the overall functionality of all components through black-box testing. The integration of IoT with the Project-Based Learning approach, as documented in the literature, has proven effective in transforming abstract concepts into concrete, interactive experiences without requiring mastery of complex textual programming. Overall, this framework provides practical solutions for Teachers/Educators in creating an exploratory STEM learning ecosystem, while significantly improving Students' computational thinking skills.

Abstract

The creative industry is a major contributor to the global economy, especially vital to ASEAN's growth. The sustainability of the sector depends on skilled human resources, which in turn influences cultural and educational policies. Islamic schools are uniquely positioned to develop the character and competence of students. However, Islamic schools in border areas face challenges in accessing resources, particularly in matching students with their interests and talents in the creative field, which is crucial for fulfilling the human resources needs of the creative industry. This research aims to classify students' knowledge and abilities in the creative field so that student competency mapping can be carried out. Using AI modelling tools, naïve bayes can perform classifications with a value of 100% accuracy. In this study, there were 17 data samples of Islamic school students based on their characteristics, learning styles, and creativity levels. Seven students were identified as Creative Innovator Profiles, work-ready, and 10 students as Creative Innovator Profiles, further education-bound. With the existence of a student data classification developer model, it is hoped that the school can switch from general career guidance to personalized guidance supported by data. This marks a significant step towards implementing smart school governance.
