Abstract

This study aims to investigate the adolescent reception of beauty vlogger Tasya Farasya as a promotional medium for Wardah cosmetic brand through her YouTube video titled "Simple Makeup Tutorial for Beginners! Also, Wardah Colorfit Series Review." Employing a qualitative approach with Stuart Hall's decoding-encoding model, data collection involved in-depth interviews and observation using purposive sampling. The analysis revealed that 8 informants positioned themselves in a dominant hegemonic stance, while 2 informants engaged in negotiation. All informants acknowledged Tasya Farasya's provision of clear and educational information about Wardah products, capturing the attention of a substantial audience. This study contributes valuable insights into the dynamics of beauty vlogger influence on youth, emphasizing the informative and engaging aspects of Tasya Farasya's content. Highlights : Influential Content Creator: Tasya Farasya emerges as a significant influencer, impacting the perceptions of youth towards beauty products and brands. Abstract

This research aims to describe and elucidate the influence of motivation and lifestyle on purchasing decisions through TikTok Shop. Employing a quantitative approach, the study utilized statistical techniques to examine the relationship between two independent variables (X) and the dependent variable (Y). The research focused on production employees in a selected area, with 90 respondents sampled through purposive sampling. Data collection involved the distribution of questionnaires through Google Forms, and the analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression in SPSS 18.0. The results reveal a significant simultaneous influence of motivation and lifestyle on purchasing decisions through TikTok Shop, supported by a partial impact indicated by the t-test. The correlation coefficient of 0.844 signifies a strong positive relationship between the independent and dependent variables. This study contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior in the context of social commerce platforms like TikTok Shop, offering valuable insights for marketers and researchers alike. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the reception of high school students towards the Ruangguru application as an online learning medium. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data collection involved in-depth interviews, observations, and a review of relevant literature, engaging students as participants. The purposive sampling technique determined informants. The findings reveal a hegemonic-dominant position held by 2 informants, indicating their satisfaction with the application, while 8 informants negotiate their position, recognizing the innovative nature of animated content delivery as a solution to monotony. This study sheds light on the diverse perceptions among students, emphasizing the need for adaptive features in online learning platforms. Highlights : The study investigates high school students' perceptions of the Ruangguru application as an online learning medium. Qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews and observations, provide insights into students' experiences with the application. Findings highlight a diversity of responses, with some students endorsing the application's suitability while others negotiate its innovative features as a remedy for boredom. Abstract

This study employs a quantitative descriptive method to assess the effectiveness of Instagram as a communication medium for Vlapictura, a service-oriented business. With a population of 3018 Instagram followers, 96 respondents were sampled using a questionnaire-based data collection technique. The research focuses on evaluating the quality of use, information, interaction, and overall impression of Vlapictura's Instagram presence. The findings reveal that Vlapictura excels in the quality of use and performs exceptionally well in terms of information, interaction, and overall impression. This study contributes valuable insights into the efficacy of Instagram for service businesses, emphasizing its role in enhancing communication and engagement. Highlights : Strategic Use of Instagram: The study emphasizes the strategic utilization of Instagram as a powerful communication medium for businesses in the service sector. Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the public acceptance of Doctor Tirta's opinions on vaccination, disseminated through his personal Instagram account, amidst a backdrop of increasing social media users, reaching 88 million on Instagram in May 2021. Employing in-depth interviews, the research explores how individuals' experiences, backgrounds, and interests influence their reception of the doctor's vaccination discourse. The results categorize informants into three hegemonic groups: dominant, negotiated, and opposition. This study contributes valuable insights into the nuanced dynamics shaping public perceptions of vaccine-related information on social media, with potential implications for public health communication strategies. Abstract

This research aims to shed light on user reception of the online dating application Tinder as a medium for self-disclosure, prompted by the surge in criminal activities and sexual violence incidents experienced by some users who readily engage with strangers in the virtual realm of social media dating. Employing qualitative research methods and Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding model, the study utilized in-depth interviews and purposive sampling for data collection. The qualitative analysis revealed three informants in a dominant position, two in opposition, and all informants engaged in negotiation. Key findings highlight user interest in Tinder's visually appealing features, including logos, colors, and messaging, along with a focus on the provided security measures and privacy policies. Notably, informants expressed reluctance to disclose personal information, deeming Tinder susceptible to criminal activities and sexual harassment. This study contributes valuable insights for enhancing the safety and user experience within online dating platforms. Abstract

General Background: Contemporary education increasingly emphasizes learner-centered communication that supports critical thinking, creativity, and active participation in response to dynamic social and professional demands. Specific Background: Dialogic, democratic, and praxis-oriented learning communication, as articulated in critical pedagogical traditions, seeks to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life and vocational contexts. Knowledge Gap: While dialogic learning communication is widely discussed conceptually, there is limited qualitative evidence describing how students perceive and experience such practices within vocational higher education institutions. Aims: This study aimed to describe student opinions on learning communication implemented at DIC Business School Sidoarjo. Results: Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews with students and key informants, the findings show that learning communication at DIC Business School is dialogic and critical, encouraging open discussion, freedom of expression, collaborative interaction, and the application of theory in daily life and the world of work. Novelty: The study offers a focused qualitative portrayal of student perspectives on dialogic and praxis-based learning communication within a vocational business school environment. Implications: These findings underscore the relevance of dialogic and praxis-oriented communication in fostering active engagement, reflective thinking, and collaborative learning, providing practical insights for the development of communicative learning practices in contemporary vocational education. Abstract

General Background: Labor unions advocate workers’ rights and welfare through structured communication and socialization activities that foster awareness and collective engagement. Specific Background: At PT Indal Steel Pipe, Gresik Regency, the labor union conducts socialization programs to encourage employee participation despite relatively low membership involvement. Knowledge Gap: Empirical insight remains limited regarding integrated organizational communication approaches used by company-based labor unions to address participation barriers. Aims: This study examines communication strategies applied by the labor union to promote unionization among employees. Results: Using a qualitative case study with interviews, observations, and documentation, the findings show that the union implements formal socialization through structured education and informal engagement through interpersonal and persuasive dialogue, supported by written, oral, and electronic communication channels. Transparency, management support, and employee trust support participation, while scheduling conflicts, apathy, stigma, and individualistic workplace culture remain challenges. These barriers are addressed through unit-based representatives and digital communication platforms. Novelty: The study presents an integrated model combining macro and micro organizational communication networks with formal and informal approaches in an industrial union context. Implications: The findings offer guidance for strengthening union communication capacity and organizational literacy to support sustainable employee participation in collective representation. Abstract

General Background: Character education supports the development of moral values, social ethics, and interpersonal behavior among students. Specific Background: Group communication in educational settings facilitates idea exchange, social interaction, and the internalization of respectful behavior among junior high school students. Knowledge Gap: Empirical measurement of the relationship between group communication and politeness ethics among seventh-grade students remains limited. Aims: This study analyzes the relationship between group communication and politeness ethics among seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Sedati. Results: Using a quantitative approach with total sampling of 372 students, questionnaire and observation data analyzed through simple linear regression revealed a significant relationship between group communication and politeness ethics (p = 0.000 < 0.05), with a correlation value of 0.554 and a determination coefficient of 30.7%, represented by the regression equation Y = 18.704 + 0.631X. Novelty: This study presents empirical statistical evidence of the measurable contribution of group communication to student politeness ethics in a junior high school setting. Implications: The findings support incorporating structured group communication activities into character education programs to promote ethical behavior and positive social interaction in schools. Highlights: Peer Interaction Patterns Demonstrate a Moderate Statistical Association With Respectful Student Conduct. Social Interaction Contributes 30.7% to Behavioral Etiquette Formation. Abstract

General Background: Institutional image is essential for sustaining public trust and competitiveness in educational institutions through strategic communication management. Specific Background: SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo implements Islamic character development programs supported by public relations activities such as Ismuba For Student and religious-based student programs. Knowledge Gap: Studies commonly examine institutional reputation and character education separately, while limited research analyzes public relations roles in building school image through Islamic character strengthening in Islamic private schools. Aims: This study analyzes public relations roles in shaping school image through Islamic character development programs at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. Results: Public relations perform four main roles, namely communicator, relationship builder, management supporter, and institutional image builder, through dissemination of Islamic values, stakeholder relationship management, cross-divisional coordination, and publication of school achievements and religious activities. The programs are associated with student character formation, academic and non-academic achievements, and increased student enrollment. Novelty: This study integrates public relations functional roles with Islamic character education as a framework for institutional reputation development. Implications: The findings provide practical references for Islamic educational institutions in designing communication strategies based on character education and stakeholder engagement to strengthen institutional positioning.
