Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) examination in improving balance and preventing the risk of falls in the elderly. The elderly are an age group that is vulnerable to decreased body function, one of which is balance disorders that can increase the risk of falls. Falls in the elderly can have serious impacts such as injury, decreased quality of life, and even death. Balance examination and evaluation are very important to prevent the risk of falls. One of the effective and widely used measuring tools is the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), which assesses balance ability through 14 functional activity items. This study aims to evaluate the role of BBS in detecting balance disorders and as a basis for physiotherapy interventions to improve postural stability in the elderly. The results of the study indicate that periodic use of BBS can help identify elderly people with high risk of falls and monitor balance progress after intervention. Thus, BBS is an important tool in fall prevention strategies and improving the quality of life of the elderly. Conclusion: the use of the Berg Balance Scale is not only effective in assessing balance status, but also as a tool for monitoring the results of physiotherapy interventions in the elderly. Periodic use of BBS is recommended as part of a fall prevention program in health care facilities or elderly communities.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the differences in the effects of Mini Squat on Balance Pad exercise and Lunge with Focused Stabilization exercise on improving stabilization. The sample consisted of 40 participants, selected using a random sampling technique using a provided questionnaire. The sample was divided into two treatment groups: Treatment Group I, consisting of 20 participants, received the Mini Squat on Balance Pad exercise, and Treatment Group II, consisting of 20 participants, received the Lunge with Focused Stabilization exercise. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test design. Statistical analysis used the Related T-Test and Independent T-Test. The results of the homogeneity test for the treatment groups before exercise showed a p-value of 0.008. The Related T-Test results for Treatment Group I showed a p-value of 0.001, and for Treatment Group II, a p-value of 0.001, indicating that the exercises given to each group had an effect on improving stabilization. The results of the Independent T-Test showed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a highly significant effect between treatment group I and treatment group II. It can be concluded that there is a highly significant difference in the effects of the Mini Squat on Balance Pad exercise and the Lunge with Focused Stabilization exercise on improving stabilization. This study recommends applying the training method with the correct procedure, and performing it over a period of more than one month. Improved stabilization results will be better if performed over a period of 2-3 months. It is also hoped that factors that could influence the research results can be minimized to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

Long outpatient waiting time is an indicator of suboptimal hospital administrative systems. The Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) is designed to improve administrative efficiency; however, in practice, complaints about long patient waiting time still persist. This study aims to examine the relationship between the registration administrative system using SIMRS and the waiting time for outpatient services at RS Patria IKKT in 2025. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytical design was employed. The sample consisted of 100 outpatient respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Spearman correlation to determine the relationship between variables. The results show that the system quality, information quality, and service quality of SIMRS at RS Patria IKKT are categorized as good. Spearman correlation analysis reveals no significant relationship between system quality (p=0.281) and information quality (p=0.910) to waiting time. However, the Chi-Square test indicats a significant relationship between service quality (p=0.001) and outpatient waiting time. The implementation of SIMRS at RS Patria IKKT contributes to accelerating administrative processes and reducing outpatient waiting time. Nevertheless, improvements in service quality are necessary to achieve more optimal results.

Abstract

Homecare services are increasingly recognized as a preferred healthcare option because of their practicality, flexibility, and accessibility, especially for elderly patients and individuals with physical limitations who face difficulties in reaching health facilities. This study aims to examine the relationship between consumer, provider, sociocultural, and organizational factors with patients’ preferences in selecting homecare services. Employing a quantitative approach with a descriptive analytical design, data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test to determine the significance of each factor. The findings reveal that consumer-related aspects, such as personal needs, convenience, and trust (p = 0.005), along with sociocultural influences including social norms, cultural values, and family support (p < 0.001), have a significant relationship with patients’ choices of homecare services. In contrast, provider factors (p = 0.096) and organizational factors (p = 0.161) were found to have no significant impact on the decision-making process. These results suggest that patients’ decisions are primarily shaped by internal motivations and sociocultural environments rather than institutional or organizational elements. Thus, it is essential for healthcare providers to focus on understanding community needs, cultural practices, and patient expectations to ensure that the services offered are both relevant and acceptable. By integrating cultural sensitivity and consumer-oriented strategies, homecare services can become more effective, trusted, and widely utilized within the community.
