Abstract

Penyakit menjadi kendala utama karena dapat menimbulkan angka kematian yang relatif tinggi. Salah satu jenis penyakit yang dapat menyebabkan kematian massal pada udang adalah vibriosis. Pengendalian penyakit telah dilakukan oleh para petani dengan menggunakan antibiotik. Namun hal ini berdampak pada resistensi dan residu pada udang. Oleh karena itu diperlukan pengobatan alternatif yang bersifat alami dan lebih ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja daun miana lam dalam mengobati infeksi penyakit Vibrio sp pada udang vannamei. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni-Juli 2020 yang bertempat di Laboratorium Peternakan Universitas Hasanuddin. Persiapan bakteri dilakukan di Laboratorium Kesehatan Ikan dan Lingkungan BPBAP (Balai Budidaya Air Payau) Takalar. Metode penelitian dirancang menggunakan 3 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun miana 1000 µg/mL. Udang terkena V. alginolyticus. dengan kepadatan bakteri 103, 105, dan 107 CFU/mL. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan membandingkan kondisi udang yang sehat dan yang sakit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa udang yang terinfeksi V. alginolyticus sembuh setelah udang direndam dengan ekstrak daun miana sebanyak empat kali. Kesimpulannya penggunaan ekstrak daun miana dapat menjadi alternatif pengobatan udang yang menyembuhkan V. alginolyticus. alginolyticus dipulihkan setelah udang direndam dengan ekstrak daun miana sebanyak empat kali. Kesimpulannya penggunaan ekstrak daun miana dapat menjadi alternatif pengobatan udang yang menyembuhkan V. alginolyticus. alginolyticus dipulihkan setelah udang direndam dengan ekstrak daun miana sebanyak empat kali. Kesimpulannya penggunaan ekstrak daun miana dapat menjadi alternatif pengobatan udang yang menyembuhkan V. alginolyticus.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk menganalisis toksisitas daun miana sebagai antibakteri pada udang vanamei. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Maret sampai Oktober 2019, di Laboratorium Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Kelautan (STITEK) Makassar. Sampel daun miana berasal dari beberapa daerah di Sulawesi Selatan. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun miana dengan tiga fraksi, yaitu ethanol, n-hexane, dan chloroform menggunakan metode difusi kertas cakram dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 500 µg/mL dan 1000 µg/mL, sebanyak tiga kali ulangan. Uji toksisitas metode BST (LC70) dengan konsentrasi uji 2500, 1250, 625, 312.5, 156.25, 78.125 µg/mL. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji aktivitas ekstrak daun miana tertinggi pada fraksi chloroform, dengan diameter hambat 28 mm. Sementara pada antibiotik oxytetracycline diameter hambat sebesar 31 mm. Nilai toksisitas pada tingkat mortalitas 30% pada konsentrasi 1250 µg/mL. Ekstrak daun miana fraksi chloroform mampu menggantikan peran antibiotic oxytetracycline dengan penggunaan konsentrasi dibawah 1250 µg/mL.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the bioactive compounds of miana leaves of Coleus scutellarioides (L) Benth against Vibrio spp.. This research was carried out from April to August 2018 at the Fish Pests and Diseases Laboratory, Department of Fisheries, Gadjah Mada University. Miana leaf samples were dried at room temperature, macerated with ethanol solvent and tested for antibacterial activity. Separation of bioactive compounds was carried out using liquid partition and silica gel using the column chromatography method. MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) is applied to evaluate antibacterial activity. The results showed that the highest antibacterial activity was found in the chloroform fraction with inhibitory zone diameters for V. parahaemolitycus, V. alginolitycus, and V. harveyii of 25 mm, 26 mm, and 20 mm at a dose of 20 µg/disk. These findings indicate that the antibacterial activity of miana leaf crude extract is comparable to oxytetracycline with inhibition zones of 25 mm, 31 mm and 20 mm respectively against similar bacterial strains at 20 µg/disk. Therefore, miana leaves are a prospective natural source of anti-vibrio compounds.

Abstract

The plant species of miana (Coleus scutellariodes) has been historically recognised for its antiviral properties.  However, there is currently no scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of miana leaf extract in preventing White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) in tiger prawns (Penaeus monodon) when administered via feed. This study aimed to determine the impact of including miana leaf extract in the diet on the  survival percentage of tiger prawns that have been infected with the WSSV. The study was carried out between June and August 2023 in the Laboratory of Parasite and Fish Disease and the Hatchery Laboratory of Hasanuddin University. This study employed a completely randomized experimental design consisting of five distinct treatments, each with three replicates. The experimental treatments included the control group (treatment A), where food was provided without the inclusion of miana leaf extract. Furthermore, there were four treatment groups (treatments B, C, D and E) where feed was supplemented with miana leaf extract at concentrations of 125, 250, 500, and 750 µg mg-1 feed, respectively. Rearing was performed in two phases: preinfection (25 days) and post- infection (7 days). The statistical results of the statistical on pre-WSSV infection indicated that the addition of miana leaf extract to the food resulted in survival that was not significantly different (p>0.05). The results were different post-infection, significantly (p<0.05) the shrimp fed with the addition of miana leaf extract were higher than those without the extract. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in shrimp survival between pre- and post-WSSV infection. WSSV mitigation through immunostimulants using miana leaf extract, which is inexpensive and environmentally friendly, has the potential to minimize the impact of WSSV infection.

Abstract

Freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) is a type of crustacean that has relatively fast growth, relatively easy reproduction and handling, is omnivorous and has a morphology similar to sea lobster so that it is in demand by consumers. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of a combination of earthworms and cassava feed on the growth and number of freshwater lobster moulting. The research method used is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. Treatment A = 100% earthworms, B = 100% cassava, C = 75% earthworms + 25% cassava, D = 50% earthworms + 50% cassava, D = 25% earthworms + 75% cassava. The results of the study showed that the highest average Absolute Weight Gain (PBM) was obtained in treatment B (2.33 g), followed by treatment D (1.95 g), followed by treatment A (1.85 g), followed by treatment E (1.84) and the lowest in treatment C (1.76 g). The highest average Specific Growth Rate (SGR) was obtained in treatment B feed (4.09%), followed by treatment D (3.83%), followed by treatment A (3.77%), followed by treatment C (3.69%) and the lowest in treatment E (3.60%). The highest Absolute Length Gain (PPM) was obtained in feed B (1.87 cm), followed by treatment A & E feed (1.84 cm), followed by treatment D feed (1.82 cm) and the lowest in treatment C feed (1.78 cm). Survival between consecutive treatments (A=83.33%, B=90%, C=80%, D=80%, E=83.33%). The number of moulting between consecutive treatments (A=9.33%, B=10%, C=9%, D=8.33%, E=8%). The results of the analysis of variance showed that the combination of feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on PBM, LPS and PPM of freshwater lobsters.

Abstract

Vibrio harveyi bacteria are one of the main causes of mass mortality in shrimp in a short time. Chaya (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) is a common plant that grows in many places in Central America, the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and has been widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas. The purpose of this study was to analyze the content of secondary metabolites in chaya leaves as antibacterials against Vibrio harveyi and to analyze the amount of inhibition of chaya leaves against Vibrio harveyi bacteria. The method used in this study was experimental with 4 treatments with 3 replications each, namely A (500 µg/mL chaya leaf extract) B (1000 µg/mL chaya leaf extract) C (Oxytetracycline antibiotic) and D (96% ethanol). The study was conducted from June to July 2024 at the Laboratory of Parasites and Fish Diseases, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. The results showed that the activity of chaya leaf extract (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) did not show inhibition against V. harveyi bacteria at concentrations of 500 and 1000 µg/mL. Likewise, 96% ethanol did not show inhibition against V. harveyi bacteria. The inhibitory activity of Oxytetracyclin showed inhibitory activity with an average inhibition size of 9.26 mm. This is thought to be due to the low sensitivity of chaya leaf extract to V. harveyi bacteria. V. harveyi is known as a bacteria with a high level of malignancy when infecting, so it is thought to require a substance with stronger inhibitory activity.

Abstract

Kabupaten Pangkajene Kepulauan salah satu daerah produksi rajungan. Selama ini hasil tangkapan rajungan berukuran kecil dan jumlahnya sedikit. Penangkapan rajungan dilakukan menggunakan alat tangkap gill net dan bubu. Tujuan kegiatan PKM adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra dalam pembuatan keramba serta meningkatkan kualita ukuran rajungan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni sampai September 2024. Lokasi PKM berada di Desa Pitusunggu. Pelaksanaan pelatihan meliputi pemaparan materi pelatihan, pendampingan pembuatan keramba, monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil pengabdian yaitu masyarakat nelayan mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang budidaya rajungan sistem keramba. Hal ini dapat menjadi alternatif dalam peningkatan pendapatan nelayan.Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan pelatihan, didapatkan bahwa teknik budidaya rajungan dapat dilakukan pada ukuran rajungan yang kecil pada sistem keramba.Selama kegiatan pelatihan masyarakat menyatakan bahwa terjadi penambahan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang budidaya rajungan pada keramba.

Abstract

The underdeveloped entrepreneurial condition at the Balik Diwa Marine Technology College is suspected to be due to the limited business facilities. Moreover, the student mindset is not focused on the benefits of sustainable business independence. High entrepreneurial motivation is defeated by the desire of students to immediately graduate and get a certificate to find work in various agencies. The solution presented by higher education institutions and the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education is to motivate students about the benefits of doing independent and sustainable business activities, by rolling out several student activity programs such as the Student entrepreneurship program, village development grant programs, student creativity programs, integrated learning and work programs, and programs. Entrepreneurial development. The entrepreneurship development program (PPK) is a program that is temporarily run by the Balik Diwa Makassar high school of marine technology which involves students and alumni as tenants. The method used in fostering tenants is through entrepreneurship training, comparative studies, and apprenticeships to small and medium-sized companies, assistance in starting and developing businesses according to their respective competencies, talents, and interests. After going through the selection, training, comparative study, and apprenticeship stages, Tenan seemed to be more enthusiastic with high enthusiasm in starting their respective businesses. There are 12 types of businesses formed from 20 tenants, and more than five types of businesses that have worked from upstream to downstream, starting from the process of pioneering and producing products to marketing. Several types of business, namely Herbal Probiotic (PH) Jolly, Saline to Fresh Ornamental Fish, aquaponic catfish enlargement, crab shell chitosan, seaweed lotion, seaweed crackers /sticks, and LACUBA fishing aid.   Keywords: Entrepreneurship program, tenants, business, students.   ABSTRAK Kondisi kewirausahaan yang kurang berkembang di Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Kelautan Balik Diwa diduga karena masih terbatasnya fasilitas usaha dan pola pikir mahasiswa yang kurang terarah terhadap manfaat dari kemandirian usaha yang berkelanjutan. Motivasi wirausaha yang tinggi terkalahkan oleh keinginan mahasiswa untuk segera lulus dan mendapatkan ijazah buat mencari pekerjaan di berbagai instansi. Solusi yang dihadirkan oleh perguruan tinggi dan Kemristek Dikti adalah memberi motivasi kepada mahasiswa tentang manfaat melakukan kegiatan usaha mandiri dan berkelanjutan, dengan menggulirkan beberapa program kegiatan mahasiswa seperti program kewirausahaan mahasiswa, program hibah bina desa, program kreativitas mahasiswa, program belajar dan bekerja terpadu, dan program pengembangan kewirausahaan. Program pengembangan kewirausahaan (PPK) merupakan program yang sementara dijalankan oleh Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Kelautan Balik Diwa Makassar yang melibatkan mahasiswa dan alumni sebagai tenan. Metode yang digunakan dalam membina tenan yaitu melalui pelatihan kewirausahaan, studi banding dan magang ke perusahaan kecil dan menengah, pendampingan dalam merintis dan mengembangkan usaha sesuai dengan kompetensi, bakat dan minat masing-masing. Setelah melalui tahap seleksi, pelatihan, studi banding dan magang, tenan terlihat lebih antusias dengan semangat yang tinggi dalam merintis usahanya masing-masing. Usaha yang terbentuk sebanyak 12 jenis dari 20 orang tenan, dan lebih dari lima jenis usaha yang sudah berkiprah dari hulu hingga hilir, mulai dari proses merintis dan menghasilkan produk hingga sampai ke pemasaran sudah dilakukan. Beberapa jenis usaha tersebut, yaitu Probiotik Herbal (PH) Jolly, Ikan Hias salin ke tawar, pembesaran lele akuaponik, Kitosan cangkang rajungan, lotion rumput laut, krupuk/stik rumput laut, dan alat bantu tangkap ikan LACUBA.   Kata kunci: Program kewirausahaan, tenan, usaha, mahasiswa.

Abstract

Coleus blumei (miana) can be used as an antimicrobial, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. Research on miana leaf extract in feed to increase the immune response of whiteleg shrimp has not been found. This study aims to analyze miana leaf extract in feed on the immune response of whiteleg shrimp. The study was conducted in July 2023 at the Hasanuddin University Laboratory and the Bogor Agricultural Institute Laboratory. The method used was a completely randomized design, 4 treatments and 3 replications, extracts of 0 g, 1 g, 2.5 g, and 7.5 g/kg of feed. The statistical results of the treatment gave a significant effect (p<0.05) on total hemocytes and phenoloxidase activity but did not give a significant effect (p>0.05) on the survival of whiteleg shrimp. The extract of 7.5 g/kg of feed had the highest impact on total hemocytes 8.43x103 cells/mm3, phenoloxidase activity 0.222 optical density ƛ=490, and 100% survival. The extract of 0 g/kg feed had the lowest impact on total hemocytes, 2.37x103 cells/mm3, phenoloxidase activity of 0.09 Optical Density ƛ=490, and survival of 90%. Conclusion, Coleus blumei leaf extract in feed can improve the immune response and survival of whiteleg shrimp. The recommended concentration in aquaculture is 7.5 g/kg.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) offal soaking water on the mass culture of Daphnia sp. for the growth of Betta fish (Betta sp.). This study was conducted for 30 days with treatment of offal 4.5 ml/L (treatment B), 7.5 ml/L (treatment C), 10.5 ml/L (treatment D) and commercial feed without skipjack offal soaking water as control (treatment A). The variables data of this study consisted of growth rate and population density of Daphnia sp., which were analyzed using variance analysis. The results showed that the highest population growth rate was found in the treatment of offal soaking water 4.5 ml/L with a value of 11.59% and a density of 260 individuals/liter on the 19th day of rearing. Daphnia sp. produced from soaking tuna offal can also be used as a natural food for the growth and development of Betta fish, although its effectiveness is still lower than other organic materials. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 30 hari dengan perlakuan air rendaman jeroan ikan cakalang sebanyak 4,5 ml/L (perlakuan B), 7,5 ml/L (perlakuan C), 10,5 ml/L (perlakuan D) dan pakan komersil tanpa air rendaman jeroan ikan cakalang sebagai kontrol (perlakuan A). Data variabel penelitian terdiri dari laju pertumbuhan dan kepadatan populasi Daphnia sp. dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan populasi tertinggi pada perlakuan menggunakan air rendaman jeroan 4,5 ml/L dengan nilai 11,59% dan dengan kepadatan individu 260 individu/liter pada hari pemeliharaan ke 19. Daphnia sp. yang dihasilkan dari perendaman jeroan ikan cakalang juga dapat digunakan sebagai pakan alami untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan ikan Betta (Betta sp.) walaupun efektivitasnya masih lebih rendah dibandingkan bahan organik lainnya.
