Abstract

Adolescence is a development stage that is emotionally vulnerable, and parenting plays a crucial role in shaping a child's ability to manage emotions. This study aims to examine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and emotion regulation in late adolescents. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The participants consisted of 350 late adolescents aged 18–22 years, selected using accidental sampling. The instruments used were the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) to measure authoritarian parenting and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) to assess emotion regulation. The results revealed a significant negative correlation between fathers' authoritarian parenting and emotion regulation (r = -0.226; p < 0.01), as well as between mothers' authoritarian parenting and emotion regulation (r = -0.254; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that the higher the level of authoritarian parenting received by adolescents, the lower their ability to regulate emotions adaptively. This highlights the importance of supportive and open parenting in fostering adolescents' emotional development.

Abstract

Academic procrastination poses a significant challenge to learning outcomes among adolescents, often stemming from psychological and motivational factors. This study investigates the extent to which academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem simultaneously predict academic procrastination in students. A quantitative approach was employed, using multiple linear regression, to examine the predictive power of both variables. The participants consisted of 220 eighth-grade students from State Junior High School 4 Purworejo. Data were collected using three instruments: an academic procrastination scale, an academic self-efficacy scale, and an academic self-esteem scale. The results revealed that academic self-efficacy and academic self-esteem together significantly predicted academic procrastination (p < 0.001), accounting for 50.9% of its variance (R² = 0.509). These findings underscore the importance of fostering students’ academic self-efficacy and self-esteem to reduce procrastination and enhance academic performance. Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic provides a new situation in health sector. The increasing number of patients in hospital makes health workers have to be able to adapt in order to continue work optimally. Self-efficacy is an individual’s belief in his ability to deal with various situations that occur. If this situation is not followed with high self-efficacy can allow health workers to experience prolonged stress which can lead to burnout. This study is aims to determine the correlation between self-efficacy and burnout in health workers at RSUD Banyumas during the pandemic. Self-efficacy level measured by General Self-Efficacy (GSE) and burnout level measured by Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The participants in this study were 187 professsional caregivers at RSUD Banyumas and have worked during the pandemic. Hypothesis test was analyzed by Spearman technique and the result of correlation coefficient is -0,256 with a significance value 0,000 (p<0,05), which means there is a negative significant correlation between two variables. This means that if the health workers self-efficacy is increase than the level of burnout experience by the health workers will be decreased, and the otherwise.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the adversity quotient and the anxiety of final year students in dealing with the world of work at various universities in Indonesia. This research was conducted using a correlational quantitative method by involving final year students from various universities in Indonesia. The samples in this research were taken by means of non probability techniques, specifically with the type of accidental sampling. The data analysis method used is the Pearson product moment correlation method. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between Adversity Quotient and anxiety in dealing with the world of work with r value = -0.731 and significance = 0.000 (p<0.05).  Thus, it may be inferred that the higher adversity quotient level will be more likely to reduce the level of anxiety in dealing with the world of work. On the other hand, the lower level of adversity quotient will be more likely able to increase the level of anxiety in dealing with the world of work. Adversity quotient was managed to provide an effective contribution of 50.8% to anxiety in dealing with the world of work. Therefore, this research is expected to be a provision of knowledge to increase or form an adversity quotient in reducing anxiety in facing with the world of work.

Abstract

Parental divorce constitutes a major family transition that may heighten adolescents’ perceived stress, whereas optimism is generally regarded as a protective psychological resource. This study examined the association between dispositional optimism and perceived stress among adolescents whose parents had divorced. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was employed with 64 adolescents aged 14–18 years residing in Grobogan Regency, Indonesia. Participants were recruited through convenience sampling and completed online measures described as Indonesian adaptations of the Life Orientation Test–Revised and the Perceived Stress Scale. Because both variables deviated significantly from normality, the hypothesis was tested using Spearman’s rank-order correlation. The analysis revealed a statistically significant, moderate positive association between optimism and perceived stress (rₛ = .488, p < .001; approximate 95% CI .28, .66), contrary to the hypothesized negative relationship. This finding should not be interpreted as evidence that optimism causes stress. Rather, it may reflect context-specific expectations, compensatory positive thinking elicited by distress, measurement-related characteristics, or unmeasured family and social conditions. The findings underscore the importance of distinguishing generalized dispositional optimism from family-specific hopes, including expectations of parental reconciliation. Counseling interventions should preserve adolescents’ positive future orientation while fostering realistic appraisal, emotional acceptance, flexible goal adjustment, and access to supportive relationships.
