Abstract

Catur gatra tunggal is an important part of the alun-alun traditional concept on the Java island. When observed that the alun-alun traditional does not stand alone but is supported by the surrounding building. The function of the surrounding building are the palace, mosque, and market. The concept is the embodiment of the concept of catur gatra tunggal. The meaning of catur gatra tunggal is the four elements into one unity. Alun-alun here serves as the center as well as supporting all three activities in surrounding buildings. So the alun-alun itself is divided into three major zones of cosmos, culture and power. Today alun-alun Malang and surrounding buildings have many changes. Changes that occur in the form of physical and nonphysical aspects. So the existence of the concept of catur gatra tunggal as an important part of the alun-alun is still questionable. In this study attempted to identify the concept of a catur gatra tunggal on the alun-alun of the present. The process of identification is not only done by the method of observation but also the understanding of the concept of catur gatra tunggal as a whole. The hope of knowing the quality of catur gatra tunggal and the surrounding environment can provide an understanding that there is a shift in the concept of the alun-alun traditional into ordinary public space without meaning.

Abstract

The kitchen is part of a house used as a place to cook. On the flats, especially type 18m2 kitchen presence is not in each occupancy because of limited land, but placed together in one location with a limited area called a shared kitchen. The presence of a shared kitchen is actually very important in flats, but construction did not pay attention to the rules of ergonomics and comfort user's perception of working in the kitchen. As a result, it sometimes leads to complaints during cooking, even some residents decline to use the shared kitchen for reasons of design and placement of the shared kitchen. Therefore, it requirestable'sheight adjustment when cooking with an ideal height of 10 cm below elbow height. This adjustment is expected to create a more ergonomic attitude in cooking activities. This study used a sample of 30 occupants of the towers using qualitative research method with a case study approach. The study found all the important variables related to the subject under study, in this case, is the size of the field work, circulation, and the height of the work tool. The results showed that the design of a shared kitchen that is used now by the inhabitants of the towers is less ergonomic with a high position table is too high and the placement tool supporting tools are not in place so that cooking can improve skeletal muscle complaints.

Abstract

21 m2 type housing is a house provided by the developer with a limited area. The available space is very limited both in terms of area and type of space that is only one bedroom, bathroom and shared space. While the activities that occur in the process of inhabiting are quite numerous and complex. This is what causes nearly 90% of residents of type 21m2 homes to renovate / add space to their homes. In the field observations, it was found that 86% of the 21m2 residents of the houses who had renovated their houses had not paid attention to the matter of natural ventilation so that their occupancy felt hot. For this reason, we need a cross-brushing concept on a 21m2 type of home design growth model that provides a solution in terms of effective ventilation design in order to optimize natural ventilation in buildings. In this research, the method used is descriptive exploratory method that is describing the object as it is, namely some studies of the shape and position of the occupancy of a residential type 21m2 that has undergone renovation. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively to clarify the qualitative. In accordance with the purpose of the research, which is to find the concept of cross-sectioning on a 21m2 residential growth model design model, a deeper survey was conducted, measurements and data collection through cameras and sketches. The results showed several cross-air concepts in the home design model of growth with optimal openings design analysis in terms of natural ventilation. The concept of cross handling in a 21m2 type of growing house will benefit the comfort of residents of a 21m2 type of house as well as various parties both the general public, residents, developers and researchers in the field of housing and interior.

Abstract

In the flats the government provides a balcony or a back porch on each dwelling that serves to relax with the family to enjoy the outside view as well as a place for entry of fresh air from outside. From the results of the questionnaire it was found that the most frequent activities of residents on the balcony were drying clothes (38%), then cooking (28%) and bathing (24%). While the smallest are eating (5%) and sitting sitting (5%). This is due to the unavailability of a place for drying clothes so that most residents use balconies for drying clothes. The condition of flats, especially balconies, has decreased in quality and occurs in the technical, functional, and aesthetic aspects of the building, as seen from the condition of the balconies that have experienced a lot of changes in shape and function. From the observations it was found that the decrease in balcony quality was due to the shape of the railing. This study uses a rationalistic approach with a qualitative deductive method conducted on balcony railings in several flats. The purpose of this study is to find answers about the effect of balcony railing shape on the visual quality of the Flats facade. From this research, the results show that balcony railings with vertical arrangement have a worse influence on the visual quality of the apartment facade compared to the horizontal arrangement. This is because the horizontal arrangement of residents cannot put their clothesline out of the balcony (on the outside). Thus, the visual quality of the apartment vasade will remain awake and avoid the impression of slums due to the hanging clothesline.

Abstract

Tambak Oso Village is a densely populated village and is traversed by one large river, the Buntung River. Currently, the Buntung River is silting up and full of water hyacinth, which causes various problems, including flooding, a reduced number of fish, and damage to the propellers of fishing boats. To reduce the presence of water hyacinth waste, training efforts are needed to process it into handicraft products, including placemats, trays, flower vases, tissue boxes, pencil cases, and other household knick-knacks. The technique used uses a plaiting technique and sticks because it is easy to do, the results are good and it does not require expensive tools. For the human resources who carry out this activity, PKK women, whose daily activities are usually only at home, sometimes help process fish ponds and catch fish. The method used in this training is divided into 2 stages. The first is counseling on how to process water hyacinth materials from taking the river to dry raw materials. The second is training on making handicraft products from water hyacinth waste using woven techniques. At this stage, they also showed examples of product designs for woven crafts from water hyacinth, which are good for exploring creativity with products including household appliances such as placemats, trays, flower vases, tissue boxes, and pencil cases. The results obtained from this service activity improve the skills of PKK members so that they can increase household income and reduce the problem of water hyacinth waste that fills the Buntung river in Tambak Oso Village, Sidoarjo, and can make Tambak Oso village better known and can later become a tourist village.
