Abstract

Nursing care is a crucial aspect in addressing health issues, including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), especially within the gay population. A lack of knowledge regarding nursing care for this population can hinder the reduction of HIV/AIDS cases. There is a need for HIV/AIDS nursing care standards that are not only comprehensive but also sensitive to the specific perceptions and needs of gay patients. Negative perceptions of nursing care can affect the quality of care and patient involvement in managing their health. Therefore, this study aims to explore these perceptions. This study employed a qualitative descriptive design to gain a deep understanding of the perceptions of gay patients with HIV/AIDS towards nursing care. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 14 participants selected purposively. The interviews were designed to explore the participants' views, experiences, and expectations regarding the nursing services they received. The collected data was analyzed using thematic analysis, allowing the researchers to identify and categorize the main themes from the gathered information. Two main themes were identified during this study: The desired professional nursing services for gay individuals with HIV/AIDS and the limitations of nurses in involving gay clients with HIV/AIDS in the nursing care planning process. Consistent and standardized nursing care services, as well as enhancing nurses' skills and abilities through mentoring and training, are the expectations of gay individuals with HIV/AIDS towards professional nursing care. A heavy workload is a limitation faced by nurses in providing optimal nursing care to gay individuals with HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Background: A fracture or broken bone is a total or partial loss of bone continuity, which is determined based on the type and extent. Based on data from nurses on duty at the IGD RS X, handling fracture patients remains problematic. One action nurses can take to improve patient satisfaction in health services is to demonstrate caring behaviour. Caring is a behaviour or action that genuinely provides others with a sense of physical and emotional security. Methods: This is a descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 55 patients, selected using convenience sampling. Data collection used the nurse caring questionnaire and patient satisfaction questionnaire. The data analysis used in this study includes univariate and bivariate analyses. Results: Characteristics of respondents in the IGD RS X, based on gender: 54,5% were male; education level: 47,3% higher education; and occupation: 29,1% were civil servants. Most respondents were at the satisfaction level 90,0%. The results of the Spearman rank correlation test indicate a strong relationship between nurses' caring behaviour and patient satisfaction in the IGD RS X (P-value = 0.040).

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the virus most frequently found in sexually transmitted diseases and is suspected to play a role in the development of cancer. HPV has been proven to be the main cause of cervical cancer. This activity aimed to increase the knowledge and awareness of women of reproductive age regarding cervical cancer, HPV infection, and the importance of IVA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) screening and vaccination as efforts to control the incidence of cervical cancer. This community service activity consisted of two main components: the first was health education on cervical cancer, HPV infection, vaccination, and genital hygiene; and the second was IVA screening, which was attended by 30 respondents. The results showed an increase in knowledge scores among women of reproductive age, reaching 11.3 after participating in the health education session. The IVA test results revealed that 25 participants (96%) were negative, and 1 participant (4%) was positive. This activity had a significant impact on the community, especially women of reproductive age. It is expected that this program can be carried out sustainably through various activities to further enhance awareness among women of reproductive age about the importance of early detection of cervical cancer.

Abstract

In Indonesia, approximately 25% of reported violence cases are related to the education sector, with 1,480 documented incidents of bullying in schools. Bullying behavior among adolescents may be influenced by peer conformity, in which individuals seek social acceptance by adapting to group norms and expectations. This study aimed to examine the relationship between peer conformity and bullying behavior among students. An analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed, involving 139 respondents. Data was collected using two questionnaires: the Peer Conformity Questionnaire and the Bullying Behavior Questionnaire. The results indicated a significant association between peer conformity and bullying behavior (χ² = 29.165, p = 0.023). Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers implement weekly student briefings, conduct monthly behavioral evaluations, provide positive reinforcement for students who demonstrate awareness and prevention of bullying, and apply disciplinary warnings for those involved in bullying. Moreover, anti-bullying education should be strengthened, and participation in extracurricular activities focused on bullying prevention should be encouraged, particularly for Grade X students.

Abstract

Aging is often accompanied by physiological, psychological, and social changes that increase the risk of mental health problems, particularly depression and anxiety. Effective psychosocial interventions are needed to help older adults manage these challenges and improve their well-being. This study aimed to determine the effect of Support Group Therapy on reducing depression and anxiety levels among older adults in Halim Village, East Jakarta. This study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre-test–post-test approach. The sample consisted of 34 older adults selected using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion criteria. The intervention was delivered through 10 structured sessions, each focusing on specific topics related to emotional well-being and peer support. Data normality was tested using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, while statistical analysis was conducted using paired t-tests and independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant difference (p < 0.001) in depression and anxiety levels before and after the intervention, indicating that Support Group Therapy is effective in reducing depression and anxiety among the elderly. These findings contribute to nursing practice, particularly in mental health nursing, by supporting Support Group Therapy as an effective psychosocial intervention to improve the mental health of older adults. This intervention may be implemented sustainably in community settings and health care facilities that provide services for the elderly.
