Abstract

Background: This study explores the role of attachment parenting, educational programs, and paternal exemplarity in shaping the character of community leaders in Riau Province. The research is grounded in the understanding that fathers hold a central role in moral and religious education, serving not only as family heads but also as primary educators who model Islamic values through daily behavior. Purpose: The study aims to examine how emotional attachment, consistent religious guidance, and exemplary conduct contribute to the formation of virtuous character among children who later become influential figures in their communities. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five community leaders representing diverse backgrounds. The analysis employed an interpretative framework of Islamic parenting and character education theory. Result: The findings reveal that attachment parenting, when aligned with Islamic principles of affection, discipline, and consistency, fosters emotional security and moral resilience in children. Moreover, fathers who serve as moral exemplars strengthen their children’s sense of responsibility, integrity, and faith-based leadership. Educational programs emphasizing religious values further reinforce these formative experiences. In conclusion, the study highlights that the harmonious integration of emotional closeness, spiritual education, and role modeling plays a crucial role in cultivating individuals with strong faith, noble character, and social responsibility traits essential for community leadership in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study examines the role of marriage agreements in promoting family welfare within the framework of Maqasid Syari'ah. The research aims to explore how these agreements protect spousal rights, ensure fairness in wealth distribution, and enhance emotional and psychological security, contributing to marital harmony and family stability. Using a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes relevant legal texts, Islamic family law, and existing scholarly literature on marriage agreements. The findings indicate that marriage agreements, when aligned with Maqasid Syari'ah, effectively safeguard the rights of both spouses, promote financial fairness, and foster emotional security by setting clear expectations and responsibilities. The study also highlights the role of marriage agreements in preventing conflicts and ensuring long-term family welfare by providing a structure for conflict resolution and mutual respect. This research contributes to the understanding of how Maqasid Syari'ah principles can be applied to modern marital dynamics, offering a practical framework for improving marital stability and promoting gender equality within the family. The study suggests that marriage agreements should be encouraged as a proactive tool for reducing marital disputes and ensuring equitable relationships in line with Islamic values.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of online gambling on the resilience of Muslim families, with a particular focus on the Riau region of Indonesia, through the lens of Islamic law. The rapid growth of online gambling, driven by the accessibility and anonymity provided by digital technologies, has become a pressing concern for many families. This research explores how online gambling undermines family stability, contributing to financial distress, psychological stress, and familial conflict. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the study collects data through semi structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and document analysis from families affected by gambling, religious leaders, and law enforcement officials. Findings indicate that online gambling not only leads to significant financial losses, often resulting in the sale of personal assets and accruing debt, but also fosters emotional neglect and psychological turmoil within families. Moreover, the lack of legal enforcement against digital gambling exacerbates the issue, as international gambling platforms evade local jurisdiction. From an Islamic perspective, the study emphasizes the prohibition of gambling (maisir) in Islam and the importance of preserving family integrity, wealth, and mental health. The research suggests that Islamic education systems, particularly madrasahs and pesantren, play a vital role in preventing gambling addiction by promoting digital literacy, ethical decision making, and family values. The findings align with the objectives of maqāṣid al sharī‘ah the preservation of family unity, wealth, and mental well-being highlighting the need for integrated solutions combining legal, educational, and community-based interventions. This study contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable development, particularly in relation to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by providing a comprehensive framework for addressing the rising threat of online gambling in Muslim communities.

Abstract

The enactment of Law No. 16 of 2019, which raised the minimum marriage age to 19, has paradoxically contributed to a significant increase in marriage dispensation applications in Indonesia. This study examines the exercise of judicial discretion in marriage dispensation cases at the Bangkinang Religious Court and analyzes its socio-legal implications for children and their families. Employing a qualitative socio-legal approach, the research is based on document analysis of four court decisions in 2024 and in-depth interviews with judges, families, and community actors. The findings reveal that judicial discretion is not solely grounded in statutory norms but is substantially shaped by contextual considerations, including moral urgency, psychological readiness, economic capacity, and familial support. However, the frequent granting of dispensations raises critical concerns regarding the erosion of child protection principles and the potential normalization of underage marriage. The study argues for the establishment of clearer regulatory guidelines and a multidisciplinary assessment framework to ensure that judicial discretion aligns with the best interests of the child and broader social justice objectives.
