Abstract

The background of this research is caused many things should be considered in learning mathematics one of them is students should be have ability in understanding concept of learning mathematics. Because each lesson of math materials contain a number of concepts that should be understand by students, therefore students should be able to relate what they have in their thinking structure like a mathematical concepts with the problems of students face. This Research aims to know picture students ability of mathematical concepts in VII class SMP PGRI Bengkulu city using lesson model of attainment concept on reflection material and what the factors that influence it. In this research, the data collection is done with tests and interviews. This research is a qualitative research descriptive . This study done in May 2015 at junior high school PGRI Bengkulu city. Sources of data are all of VIIth grade students. Data capabilities student in understanding mathematical concepts obtained using tests and interviews. Data tests students' ability of understanding mathematical concepts analyzed descriptively according Miles and Huberman. And then total four students were interviewed to find out more how the students' understanding of mathematical concepts. The results showed there were 21 students from 25 students were categorized good and 3 students were categorized enough, and a student were categorized less, so overall students' abilities in understanding mathematical concepts using models attainment concepts of mathematical students by using model attainment concept in VIIth class  SMP PGRI Bengkulu City are categorized good. Keywords: the ability of understanding mathematical concepts, learning model of attainment concept

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study is to develop problems of mathematical reasoning skills that are valid and practical. Research methods used research and development with tessmer model (modification Zulkardi, 2006) consisting of preliminary stages, self evaluation, expert review and one-to-one, small group and field test. This research only reached the small group stage. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class X. This study used instruments in the form of documents, validation sheets, comment sheets / suggestions and prototypes. The validity of the problem is seen from the results of the validator assessment analysis on the validation sheet that states the problems are developed both based on construct, content and language. The readability of the question is viewed from the one-to-onestage. After completion in the one-to-one stage continued in the small group stage, namely the prototype II trial to 30 students of high school class X. This research produces valid and practical mathematical reasoning problems. Keywords: Development of Mathematical Reasoning Skills.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to observe the differences in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities and learning independence in learning with the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach based on Engineering Design Thinking (EDT), the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach, and conventional learning. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest–posttest control group design. The study population was all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Bengkulu City in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data analysis was carried out using one-way ANOVA. The results showed that there were significant differences in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities taught with the PMRI approach based on EDT, PMRI, and conventional learning (F = 3.629; p = 0.031 < 0.05). The average posttest of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in the PMRI class based on Engineering Design Thinking was 28.75, the PMRI class was 26.84, and the conventional learning class was 24.42. In addition, there was a significant difference in student learning independence between the three learning groups (F = 3.734; p = 0.029 < 0.05). The average student learning independence in the EDT-based PMRI class was 73.94, higher than the PMRI class (68.95) and the conventional learning class (68.13). Based on these results, EDT-based PMRI learning is more effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities and learning independence. Keywords: PMRI, Engineering Design Thinking (EDT), Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Learning Independence.
