Abstract

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, first-time mothers experience significant physical and psychological transitions. In these maternal terms, a mother demands a supportive environment to achieve a healthy pregnancy outcome. The perspective of the support recipient, in this case, the mother cannot be quantified quantitatively. It is open to multiple interpretations and is even highly subjective. So there is no appropriate level of consistency as a universal measuring tool. This study is to develop and validate an instrument for assessing Father Support During Pregnancy (FSDP) as seen by the mother by descriptive exploratory design to explore what mothers need from their husbands during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The subjective answer of 616 pregnant mothers in the second and third trimesters in June – December 2020 of four primary health care in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The four factors dimension include; emotional support; instrumental support; informational support; and appraisal support are considered as the model to achieve in this test and then validated using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Data were obtained via an online survey several times. This study succeeded in constructing an instrument to measure the function of a husband’s social support for his wife during pregnancy. This instrument is considered valid after going through the description and verification stages. However, because this is the first time, it requires a further maturation process, especially for participants with different sociodemographic characteristics, such as the upper-middle class. Several indicators with a loading factor value below 50% need to be considered again to be tested simultaneously on different target participants.

Abstract

The increasing number of insurance policy owners who close their policies or surrender is one of the long-lasting effects of Covid-19. So it is necessary to investigate qualitatively about the things that underlie the decision making of users of private health insurance services to stop paying premiums to close their insurance policies. This study used a qualitative design with an in-depth interview approach to 10 of the best private health insurance service user informants according to Investor 2022 magazine in Indonesia between June - August 2022. Transcripts of all interview results were analyzed using thematic analysis with a theoretical framework approach to planning behavior (TPB). From the three themes it was found that the perception of obstacles is the only thing that underlies the surrender decision by users of private health insurance. Insurance companies should provide several options for premium payment restructuring schemes and product restructuring and easy access to these options so that customers can be persistent in continuing their policies.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a complication of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which is a major health problem throughout the world with a high recurrence rate. It is estimated that approximately 40% of patients have a recurrence within one year of ulcer healing, nearly 60% within three years, and 65% within five years. One of the efforts to prevent DFU recurrence can be made with foot care which is preceded by knowledge of foot care. This study aimed to compare the knowledge of DFU patients before and after being given education. This study is a pre-post-test with 21 respondents who routinely received wound care at Rumah Perawatan ETN CENTER. Measurement of initial knowledge using a questionnaire consists of 11 questions that have been tested for content validity (CVI > 80%). Then the patient is given foot care education using a video, and after that, the video link is distributed to the patient; patient knowledge was measured again after three weeks using the same questionnaire. There is a comparison of knowledge before and after being given foot care education with a p-value = 0.000. Foot care is one of the efforts to prevent recurrent DFU. There was an increase in patient knowledge after being given an education

Abstract

The aging population and the prevalence of chronic disorders among the elderly have led to an increased demand for in-home care services. Maintaining quality of life (QoL) for the elderly is a primary goal of aged care services. This study aims to understand the perceptions of elderly individuals regarding their QoL and the optimal support provided by their families. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was used, and data were collected from 93 elderly individuals in the Patallassang District of Gowa Regency, Indonesia. The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHO-QoL) instrument and the Family Support Scale (FSS) questionnaire were employed to assess QoL and family support, respectively. The results showed a positive correlation between family support and QoL, indicating that greater support from families leads to a higher QoL for the elderly. Furthermore, educational background and family composition were identified as factors influencing the impact of family support on QoL. Conclusion, The findings highlight the importance of tailored care models and support services to meet the specific needs of elderly individuals, particularly those with chronic ailments. Understanding the perspectives of the elderly and their support requirements is crucial for developing effective strategies to enhance their independence and well-being.

Abstract

To enhance social support for the elderly, particularly the psychological aspects, it is necessary to comprehend their personality types. This is helpful for comprehending the strengths of each personality type, which can be used to empower the concept of independent self-care. To reduce the prevalence of RKL, this personality type will be utilized to increase the elderly's independence in performing daily activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between personality types and the ability of elderly individuals to perform ADLs. In June through August of 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 83 elderly residents of Panaikkang Village, Patallassang District, Gowa Regency. The JTI Questionnaire and Katz index were used to collect demographic information, personality type, and daily living abilities. This study reveals that there are slightly fewer introverted than extroverted elderly individuals. Due to the fact that the number of introverts and extroverts is almost identical, there may be health risks associated with the elderlys personalities. Personality type has a significant impact on the ability of the elderly to perform daily tasks. Therefore, it is recommended that medical personnel and local health agencies evaluate the personality of every elderly person who has received a medical exam or who resides in their service area. Thispsychosocial screening must be performed routinely. This is essential so that medical personnel can educate the elderly, particularly their families, to be more sensitive to their condition and recognize the potential consequences of their personality limitations.

Abstract

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic not only has an impact on health and economic problems but also has an impact on increasing early marriage. Early marriage is a marriage that is not allowed because it violates the age limit for marriage, the provisions of which must be married at the age of more than 19 years but carried out when the age is under 19 years. The issue of early marriage has become a separate problem for Indonesia. There are many facts behind underage marriage. Some of them are as a solution to the family economy, the influence of local religious and cultural norms, and the lack of education related to early marriage. Early marriage can cause teenagers to drop out of school, reproductive health problems, low birth weight babies, psychological disorders and increase divorce rates. Community service activities are carried out to increase students' knowledge about the impact of early marriage. Community service activities are carried out using the lecture method (counseling). Before and after the counseling students were given pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results of community service activities, namely before counseling students with good knowledge categories were 30% and after counseling increased to 78%, this indicates an increase in student knowledge after counseling about the impact of early marriage in SMP Negeri 2 Cina

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication characterized by hypertension and organ dysfunction, especially the kidneys, which usually appear after 20 weeks of gestation. In Indonesia, preeclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The high maternal mortality rate in this country requires a deeper understanding of the risk factors for preeclampsia in order to formulate more effective and targeted prevention strategies. This study aims to identify the main risk factors for preeclampsia in pregnant women in the Pampang Health Center working area, Makassar City, and to evaluate the influence of these factors on the incidence of preeclampsia. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 200 pregnant women, consisting of 100 women with preeclampsia and 100 without preeclampsia. Taken systematically from medical records for the period 2021 – 2023. Data were collected from medical records and confirmed through interviews if necessary. Data analysis used the Chi-square test with p <0.05. The main findings show that a history of preeclampsia, chronic hypertension, renal impairment, autoimmune conditions, and maternal employment status are significant risk factors for preeclampsia. Working mothers with chronic hypertension had a higher risk of preeclampsia (81.8%) compared to non-working mothers (30.1%). This study highlights the importance of intensive monitoring for mothers with high-risk factors. Working mothers are more susceptible to stress and hypertension, increasing the risk of preeclampsia. A history of autoimmune and renal impairment also shows a strong association with preeclampsia. History of preeclampsia, chronic hypertension, renal impairment, autoimmune conditions, and maternal employment status are significant risk factors for preeclampsia. Recommendations include intensive monitoring, education and support for pregnant women, especially those who work, and further longitudinal studies for a clearer causal relationship. Objective medical validation is needed for subjective variables to improve data accuracy.
