Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of intellectual property rights (IPR) as an object of waqf in the perspective of Islamic law, with a focus on normative studies and their implementation in contemporary practice. The main issue raised is the extent to which IPR, as an intangible asset, can be accepted within the framework of Islamic law as an object of waqf, as well as the challenges that arise in the implementation process. This study uses a qualitative method based on literature studies, with a normative approach to review the provisions of classical and modern Islamic law, as well as analysis of regulations related to waqf and IPR. The results of the study show that IPR meets the criteria of sharia as an object of waqf, especially in the framework of sharia maqasid which focuses on the protection of assets (hifzul maal) and the achievement of the benefits of the people. However, the implementation of IPR waqf still faces obstacles, such as the lack of specific regulations, limited public understanding, and obstacles in the management and distribution of its benefits. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of updating the waqf law to include IPR as one of the waqf assets, accompanied by strengthening the management capacity and synergy between religious institutions, the government, and the community. This transformation is expected to be able to expand waqf's contribution to science-based economic development and increase the sustainability of social benefits.

Abstract

Listening is one of the fundamental language skills that significantly influences students' language comprehension and communication abilities. In elementary school, advanced listening instruction is often overlooked, resulting in students"™ low ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to spoken texts critically. This study aims to explore the implementation of advanced listening learning in elementary schools and its impact on students"™ listening comprehension skills. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and document analysis. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of advanced listening learning is still limited and tends to focus only on basic listening skills, such as identifying main ideas or keywords. Teachers rarely use varied and interactive listening strategies, such as note-taking, predicting content, or responding to audio-visual materials. Furthermore, it was found that students often face difficulties in retaining detailed information and making inferences from what they listen to. The study concludes that there is an urgent need for more structured and engaging listening learning approaches that go beyond the basic level, integrating technology and student-centered strategies to improve comprehension and critical thinking. This research is expected to be a reference for developing more effective listening instruction in elementary education.

Abstract

The effectiveness of the teaching and learning process within an educational institution is significantly determined by the quality of its course scheduling. The timetable generation process at SMK Darussalam Makassar, which still relies on manual methods using Microsoft Excel, faces several fundamental challenges. This process has been identified as time-consuming (inefficient), leading to delays in the dissemination of the schedule to relevant stakeholders. The primary problem that frequently arises is the occurrence of clashes in teacher schedules, thereby directly disrupting the academic process. To address this scheduling optimization problem, this research implements a Genetic Algorithm. This algorithm is a stochastic search technique inspired by the principles of natural selection and genetics to find optimal or near-optimal solutions. Based on the evaluation results, the developed Genetic Algorithm-based scheduling system demonstrates limitations in terms of scalability. The system only succeeded in achieving an optimal schedule for 56 out of a total of 406 class meetings. This performance limitation is attributed to the architectural and computational resource constraints of the developed platform.

Furthermore, students' responses to the use of Google CS First gave a positive response, judging from the results of the first day of learning that did not use Google CS First, from the six aspects of activity observed, five of them showed a poor response, but on the second day of observation where learning was using Google CS First, the 6 aspects observed showed a fairly possitive response, and it can be concluded that Google CS First is the right learning media to make students more enthusiastic in participating in learning

Abstract

This study analyzes the English learning needs of bilingual students in the Faculty of Socio-Politics at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, emphasizing the relevance of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in higher education. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected from five purposively selected sixth-semester students through interviews and open-ended questionnaires. The findings reveal that students require English proficiency for effective communication in academic and professional contexts, particularly in areas related to daily life, science, technology, and international public administration careers. Speaking, listening, and writing skills were identified as top priorities. The study also found that current teaching materials generally align with students' needs, but lack engagement and contextual depth. This research underscores the urgent need to tailor ESP materials more closely to students’ academic and career goals. It contributes to the field by offering insights into how bilingual programs can better support learners through relevant, need-based English instruction.
