Abstract

Elderly people are the final stage of human life, characterized by deterioration of health balance and physiological conditions that increase the risk of organ disorders. Reduced brain function can lead to various neurological and psychological disorders, delirium, and dementia. Psychomotor function, including the ability to move, act, and coordinate, may also decline with age, which may reduce agility in older adults.  Older adults also experience a decline in their ability to carry out daily life and become more vulnerable to various challenges. With the growing number of elderly people in Indonesia, this issue has a significant impact on government and society. Physical and mental decline in older adults, including reduced cognitive function, is a major concern that requires appropriate management and prevention efforts. To address these problems, the Community Service Program (PKM), specifically targeting the elderly, senior citizens and BKL Anggrek RT. 05 RW. 02 in the village of Cepokokuning, provides concrete solutions to overcome this problem through the provision of health and home education programs. This program aims to improve the optimization of cognitive functions and coordination in older adults

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation and impact of halal certification within Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pekalongan City, primarily focusing on the role of the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) in facilitating and ensuring compliance with halal certification. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, encompassing juridical-normative and juridical-empirical research techniques, we scrutinized both the legislative framework and its real-world application within Pekalongan's food and beverage MSME sector. The data revealed that the halal certification process is hindered by several factors, including insufficient human resources and a pervasive lack of understanding and awareness regarding the necessity and implications of halal certification among MSME actors. Notably, the current level of law awareness pertaining to halal certification in Pekalongan City remains suboptimal. This shortfall suggests an urgent need for enhanced educational and socialization efforts to bolster legal consciousness and promote compliance. Additionally, the research underscores a pivotal role for the MUI, not just in terms of routine inspection and conflict resolution but also as a collaborative agent working with various institutions like BPOM, the Ministry of Religion, and law enforcement agencies to safeguard consumer rights and uphold religious and legal standards. These findings stress the need for concerted multi-agency efforts to foster a more inclusive and knowledgeable halal-certified product ecosystem in Pekalongan City.Highlights: Awareness Gap: Significant lack of understanding about halal certification necessities and procedures among MSMEs in Pekalongan City. Resource Shortfall: Insufficient human resources hinder the optimal implementation of the halal certification process. MUI's Central Role: MUI's pivotal role in enhancing the halal certification process, fostering compliance, and protecting consumer rights. Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) remains a major public health problem among children under five years old, particularly in coastal areas characterized by relatively homogeneous environmental and behavioral conditions. Dense settlements, substandard housing environments, and a high prevalence of risk behaviors are assumed to increase ARI incidence; however, empirical evidence explaining how these risk factors operate within homogeneous coastal communities and how prevention programs influence epidemiological findings remains limited. This study aimed to analyze risk factors associated with ARI among under-five children in the coastal area of Wonokerto Kulon Village, Pekalongan Regency, and to explore the implementation of ARI prevention programs at the primary health care level. A case–control study design was employed using a mixed-methods sequential explanatory approach. The quantitative phase included 38 children under five, consisting of 19 ARI cases and 19 controls selected through consecutive sampling. Bivariate analysis was conducted using Fisher’s exact test to examine associations between individual child factors, physical housing environment, and family behavioral factors with ARI incidence. The qualitative phase involved in-depth interviews with key informants from the primary health center and was analyzed thematically to contextualize the quantitative findings. The results showed no statistically significant associations between individual child characteristics, physical housing conditions, or family behaviors and ARI incidence (p > 0.05). Qualitative findings indicated that risk factor exposure in the coastal community was widespread and relatively uniform, while ARI prevention programs were implemented but constrained by structural limitations and persistent risk behaviors. This study concludes that homogeneous exposure to risk factors limits their role as individual-level determinants of ARI, suggesting that prevention efforts in coastal areas should prioritize community-based interventions and collective environmental improvements rather than individual-focused approaches.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious problem that must be addressed because it has an impact on the quality of human resources that will be dated. The prevalence of stunting cases in Indonesia in 2022 has decreased compared to 2021, which was 21.6%. However, this figure is still above the government's expectations which determine a decrease of up to 14% in 2024. This determination requires comprehensive handling from various parties in reducing the incidence of stunting and preparing a better next generation. This study aims to determine environmental factors that are risk factors for stunting in Pekalongan City through the trias epidemiological approach. This study is a mixed methods study  using an explanatory sequential design with a case control approach. The independent variables to be studied include host and environment variables. The data obtained will be analyzed bivariate and multivalent with data reduction and drawing conclusions from qualitative data. Furthermore, the results of the mix methods analysis  will be included in the SWOT analysis to formulate a strategy to accelerate the reduction of stunting prevalence in Pekalongan City.

Abstract

Primary care integration (ILP) is a pillar of health transformation to strengthen primary health care by bringing health services closer to the village level, targeting the entire life cycle, and strengthening local area monitoring (PWS). The purpose of the study was to analyze the implementation of Primary Care Integration (ILP) at Puskesmas in East Pekalongan District. The research method used qualitative analysis with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out at the Puskesmas in the East Pekalongan sub-district of Pekalongan City. Data collection with in-depth interviews involving 20 informants and data processing using thematic analysis with CIPP variables. This study found that in the context aspect, the goal has not been achieved optimally to bring health services closer and expand due to the lack of cadres, influential factors are family support and officer involvement and infrastructure, targeting the entire life cycle.  In the input aspect, human resources are not sufficient, especially medical personnel and cadres for many targets, funding is insufficient for activities, infrastructure for tools is sufficient but the place of implementation is still not large enough and health test kits are still lacking. In the process aspect, planning has gone well, organizing is well structured, it's just that the number of cadres and health workers is still lacking to serve all life cycles, for Pekalsanaan it is still running as much as possible and for evaluation it still refers to the old mechanism and for evaluations carried out regularly every month. In the product aspect, the results of activities can increase the level of visits and the community becomes more enthusiastic in participating in the ILP posyandu.

Abstract

The significant rise in diarrhea cases in the highland area of Puskesmas Doro 1, reaching 339 cases in 2025. This study employed a mixed-methods design with a sequential explanatory model. The quantitative phase used a case-control study on 34 toddlers (17 cases and 17 controls) selected through consecutive and simple random sampling. Data analysis utilized the Chi-Square test. The qualitative phase involved in-depth interviews with policymakers. The results showed a significant relationship between diarrhea incidence and clean water facilities (p=0.001; OR=35.00), family latrines (p=0.002; OR=10.56), and waste disposal facilities (p=0.016; OR=5.76). On the other hand, parenting style and handwashing with soap (CTPS) showed no significant relationship. Qualitative findings confirmed that water source contamination due to substandard septic tank distances was the primary cause, even though community hygiene behavior was adequate. Poor physical environmental quality is the major determinant of diarrhea incidence compared to behavioral factors. Interventions focusing on improving basic sanitation infrastructure and protecting water sources are required to break the chain of transmission. Abstract
