Abstract

Kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh pembelajar bahasa kedua/asing di Muslim Satun Wittaya School Thailand terjadi ketika pembelajar belum mempelajari beberapa item bahasa dan secara konsisten melakukan kesalahan, di penelitian ini penulis bertindak sebagai guru sekaligus penganilis kesalahan berbahasa dan membaca di salah satu sekolah diThailand. Beberapa ahli melihat kesalahan sebagai hal yang normal sebagai bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari proses pembelajaran bahasa, sementara yang lain menganggapnya sebagai bentuk penyimpangan yang menunjukkan kegagalan pembelajar dalam menerapkan sistem bahasa. Sumber kesalahan dapat berasal dari interferensi (pengaruh bahasa pertama yaitu Thai), kompleksitas bahasa target, atau sistem belajar mengajar. Kesalahan dapat diklasifikasikan ke dalam beberapa kategori: linguistik, permukaan, komparatif, dan pengaruhnya terhadap komunikasi. Dengan latar belakang paedagogis, analisis kesalahan hadir untuk memecahkan masalah bahasa pelajar melalui prosedur: pengumpulan data, identifikasi kesalahan, deskripsi kesalahan, penjelasan kesalahan, klasifikasi kesalahan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari analisis kesalahan dapat digunakan untuk berbagai manfaat, antara lain: menentukan urutan materi pengajaran, menentukan materi kebahasaan yang membutuhkan perlakuan khusus dan latihan yang lebih banyak, memperbaiki pengajaran secara remedial, memilih butir-butir soal untuk mengevaluasi atau menguji kemampuan berbahasa pembelajar, dan menghindari kesalahan yang sama di kemudian hari.

Abstract

Teacher assessment is a crucial factor in fostering students' motivation to improve their foreign language skills and language competency during the learning process. Engaging students in active learning has been proposed as a means to enhance learning outcomes, motivation, and attitudes towards learning. Although previous research acknowledges the significance of assessment in shaping these factors, there is a lack of specific investigation in this area. The objective of this study is to elucidate the intricate correlation between teacher assessment and student engagement in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. This research uses a qualitative research design by conducting direct interviews to collect and analyze data. There are 3 of the 4 English teachers at SMP Swasta Al-Muslimin Pandan were included in the study at random as participants. The results of research perceived by EFL school teachers reveal that involving students in the assessment process, such as through self-assessment and peer assessment activities, further enhanced their engagement and ownership of their learning journey.

Abstract

This study scrutinizes the quality of translation for students who use translation assistance. A new text translated by students is then studied to see how successful students are at translating the text. First, the quality of the translation was analyzed using a scoring rubric in the form of the first, which deals with the perception of the source text message related to the accuracy of the translation, including the translation which has an inaccurate effect on understanding the source text and classified into eight categories: faux sens, nonsense, additions, omissions, unresolved extralinguistic references, loss of meaning, inappropriate linguistic variations (registers, styles, dialects). Second, nonconforming renderings that affect target language (TL) expressions are divided into five categories: spelling, grammar, lexical items, text, and style. Finally, preliminary presentation affects the delivery of the source text's primary or secondary function. The research uses content analysis design and descriptive qualitative methods as the umbrella. The study's results found that there were few grammatical omissions because the target language had absorption from the source language. In table 1, the translator does not make mistakes regarding style and text because, in principle, the language in the news is the standard language. Linguistic problems include grammatical differences, lexical ambiguity, and meaning ambiguity. At the same time, cultural issues refer to different situational features. This classification coincides with, for example, regional languages such as Sundanese, Malay, or Arabic

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using lapbooks on students' critical thinking skills at the Kepong Learning Center in Malaysia. The method used in this study was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest. The population in this study were sixth-grade students at the Kepong Learning Center. The sampling technique used total sampling, resulting in a sample of six students. The instrument used was a 10-item essay test designed based on indicators of students' critical thinking skills. Data analysis used a paired sample t-test. The findings of this study indicate that the use of lapbooks can improve students' critical thinking skills, as evidenced by higher posttest scores compared to pretest scores (83.33 > 52.5). Furthermore, the results of the hypothesis test showed that the calculated t-value (13.104) was greater than the t-table (2.200) and the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of lapbooks significantly influences students' critical thinking skills at the Kepong Learning Center in Malaysia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji penerapan pojok baca sebagai strategi untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa di Sanggar Bimbingan Muhammadiyah Kepong. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus pembelajaran pada siswa kelas III yang berjumlah 10 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam minat baca siswa, dimana nilai rata-rata angket minat baca meningkat dari 53 pada prasiklus menjadi 62 pada siklus I (peningkatan 9%), dan mencapai 86 pada siklus II (peningkatan 24%). Hasil observasi aktivitas siswa juga menunjukkan peningkatan dari 66,93 pada siklus I menjadi 86,93 pada siklus II. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan pojok baca merupakan strategi yang efektif dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa, yang ditandai dengan peningkatan frekuensi kunjungan ke pojok baca, durasi membaca, dan kualitas interaksi siswa dengan bahan bacaan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine efforts to improve reading skills in students of Guidance Muhammadiyah Kepong, Malaysia, through the use of Bigbook media. Bigbook media is a learning method that integrates visual and text elements effectively, so it is expected to increase student's interest and reading skills. This study was conducted using the classroom action research (CAR) method, which aims to improve the quality of learning through direct action in the classroom. The subjects of this study were 22 students involved in learning activities in the classroom that were used as research objects. These students became part of the experiment or action taken by the researcher to overcome problems in the teaching and learning process. This study was conducted in several cycles, each consisting of the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The study results showed a significant increase in students' mastery of reading skills after applying big-book media. At the pre-action stage, most students were in the less category with a percentage of 45.45%, but after the application of KCB in Cycle I, there was an increase with an average percentage of 64%. Further improvement was recorded in Cycle II, where all students were in the very good category, with an average percentage of 86.4%. In addition, the assessment of student responses to the mastery of reading skills through the use of book media showed that the use of this media was very good in improving student mastery, with a percentage of mastery reaching 94%. Thus, the use of Bigbook Media is very good in improving the mastery of reading skills of Bimbingan Kepong Malaysia students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan LKPD berbasis Fishbone Diagram terhadap kemampuan peserta didik dalam menguraikan teks narasi pada materi unsur intrinsik. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan pendekatan Pre-Experimental Design dengan tipe one-group pretest posttest design. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas V Sanggar Belajar Kampung Bharu, Malaysia, sedangkan sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik Total Sampling yang terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas V berjumlah 11 orang tanpa kelas pembanding. Instrumen penelitian mencakup uji tes setelah perlakuan beserta dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan analisis deskriptif, uji prasyarat, serta uji-t. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa penggunaan LKPD Fishbone Diagram memberikan pengaruh terhadap kemampuan menganalisis teks narasi. Hal tersebut tampak dari peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa, yaitu skor pretest sebesar 13,30 yang kemudian meningkat menjadi 21,48 pada posttest. Standar deviasi pretest sebesar 4,266, sedangkan posttest sebesar 4,215. Selanjutnya, analisis uji-t menunjukkan angka signifikansi sebesar 0,000, berada di bawah 0,05. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan LKPD Fishbone Diagram berkontribusi secara signifikan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menganalisis teks narasi siswa kelas V Sanggar Belajar Kampung Bharu.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the use of folktale books in teaching Indonesian language to fourth-grade students at SD Sanggar Bimbingan Muhammadiyah Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in order to improve reading comprehension while instilling moral values. The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart (1988) model, conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were nine fourth-grade students, observed through classroom observation, interviews, and reading comprehension tests, with data analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicate a significant improvement from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, the average reading comprehension score was 68 with a mastery level of 55.5%, while moral value comprehension reached an average of 70 with 60% mastery. After refining the learning strategies in Cycle II, the average reading comprehension score increased to 82 with 88.8% mastery, and moral value comprehension improved to 85 with 91.1% mastery. Qualitative analysis revealed that students became more active in reading, discussing, expressing opinions, and were able to identify and internalize moral messages from the stories. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that folktale books are effective teaching materials for enhancing reading comprehension and moral value development among fourth-grade students. This story-based learning strategy not only supports cognitive learning outcomes but also fosters positive character development, reading interest, critical thinking skills, and moral awareness. These findings can serve as a reference for teachers in designing more interactive, meaningful, and character-based Indonesian language learning activities.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPAS merupakan proses yang disusun secara terencana untuk membantu peserta didik memahami konsep melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam kegiatan belajar. Namun, pembelajaran IPAS di Sanggar Belajar Kampung Bharu Malaysia masih menunjukkan hasil belajar yang belum optimal karena penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi dan media pembelajaran yang terbatas. Kondisi ini menunjukkan perlunya penerapan model pembelajaran yang inovatif dan didukung media yang menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model discovery learning berbantuan baamboozle terhadap hasil belajar IPAS siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan pre-eksperimen tipe one group pretest posttest design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VI di Sanggar Belajar Kampung Bharu Malaysia yang berjumlah 8 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes hasil belajar dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar IPAS siswa setelah penerapan model discovery learning berbantuan baamboozle. Dengan demikian, model discovery learning berbantuan baamboozle dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPAS siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe in depth the impact of globalization specifically the use of technological devices and the internet on student learning interest at SDN 030439 Lau Meciho, Tanah Pinem District, Dairi Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method. The research subjects involved 20 upper-grade students selected purposively based on indications of decreased learning concentration. Data collection was conducted from February 2 to 21, 2026, through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that globalization has a significant negative impact on students' learning interest. Easy access to gadgets without adequate parental supervision causes students to experience physical fatigue, loss of focus during lessons, and a decrease in academic participation. Students are more attracted to instant entertainment such as online games and social media compared to the learning process in the classroom. It is concluded that the restoration of learning interest requires a synergy of supervision between the school and parents, as well as the integration of character education based on local wisdom in learning
