Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of school principal leadership management in improving teacher performance through the BERKARISMA strategy (Quality-Oriented, Creative, Religious, Innovative, Courteous, Independent, and Trustworthy) at Sukorejo IV Public Elementary School, a small school with 76 students and 7 teachers. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used to describe the planning process, supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impact of the strategy. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with triangulation to ensure validity. The results show that the BERKARISMA strategy effectively addressed the limitations of the small school, improved teacher motivation and competencies, and reduced performance gaps (e.g., lesson planning improved from 68% to a more optimal level). Supporting factors included the principal’s role as a role model and team collaboration, while inhibiting factors involved limited resources. The impact was an improvement in the school climate and the quality of learning. This research contributes to the development of leadership models in small schools.

Abstract

The performance of elementary school teachers is a key factor in determining the quality of learning. However, the practice of academic supervision in schools is still largely administrative and has not fully functioned as reflective professional development. This study aims to analyze the implementation of clinical supervision with a lesson study approach to improve the performance of elementary school teachers and to understand the meaning of teachers’ reflective experiences during the supervision process. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects include the principal and elementary school teachers directly involved in clinical supervision based on lesson study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document studies, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation to maintain data validity. The results of the study show that clinical supervision with lesson study was carried out collaboratively through the stages of planning, implementation, and joint reflection. The reflection process encouraged teachers to critically recognize the strengths and weaknesses of their teaching practices. Changes in teacher performance were not only demonstrated by improvements in lesson planning and teaching strategies but also by the development of reflective awareness and professional commitment. This study concludes that the integration of clinical supervision and lesson study is an effective strategy for sustainable professional development of teachers. The novelty of this study lies in revealing the meaning of teacher reflection as the core of performance change in clinical supervision based on lesson study.

Abstract

Data-driven management has become an essential approach in improving school quality amid increasing demands for accountability and evidence-based decision-making in education. However, empirical studies exploring how data-based management is implemented at the primary school level, particularly from a qualitative perspective, remain limited. This study aims to examine the implementation of data-driven management in improving educational quality at SDN Wangkalwetan, Kejayan District. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi- structured interviews with the principal and teachers, participatory observations, and document analysis related to school planning and evaluation. The findings reveal that data-driven management at SDN Wangkalwetan is implemented through a cyclical process involving data identification, collaborative data interpretation, program planning, implementation, and evaluation. School performance data are primarily utilized to guide instructional supervision, teacher development programs, and learning improvement initiatives. Nevertheless, the study also identifies challenges related to teachers’ data literacy and limited infrastructural support. This research contributes theoretically by enriching the discourse on data-driven educational leadership in primary education contexts and practically by offering insights for school leaders and policymakers in strengthening evidence-based school management practices.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of the Digital School Program through the utilization of the GENIUS APP to enhance teacher performance at SDN Tamansari, Wonorejo District. The evaluation was conducted using the comprehensive CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. A descriptive qualitative research method was applied, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The findings reveal that, in terms of context, the program aligns with national digitalization policies and the school’s need for an efficient daily monitoring system. However, in the input aspect, limitations were identified in internet infrastructure and variations in teachers’ digital competencies. The implementation process encountered challenges in the form of resistance to change and suboptimal consistency in application usage. The product or outcomes of the program indicate improvements in administrative efficiency and digital documentation, although its impact on enhancing teachers’ pedagogical performance still requires strengthening. Key supporting factors include the principal’s commitment and training initiatives, while the main inhibiting factors are slow internet connectivity and dual workload demands. The implications of this study provide recommendations for program improvement, such as optimizing infrastructure support, ensuring continuous mentoring, and aligning the application with teachers’ actual workload, to ensure that technology truly serves as an enabler for improving the quality of educational management and teacher performance.
