Abstract

The purpose of this research is to assess the effectiveness of group counseling services using the Overcoming Resistance To Change technique to improve the self-efficacy of students at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjung Balai. The researcher employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research type, specifically using a pretest-posttest control Group design. The population consists of all 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjung Balai, totaling 84 students, with a sample size of 16 students: 8 students in the experimental group and 8 students in the control group, who have low self-efficacy. The sampling method used is non-probability sampling, specifically purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a self-efficacy scale. The data analysis technique used is the t-test with the help of SPSS version 25, yielding a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05. The output for pair 1 shows a thitung value of 27.693 with a Sig value of 0.000 (2-tailed) < 0.005. Meanwhile, the output for pair 2 shows a Sig value of 14.095 and a sig value of 0.000. The sig value of 0.000 < 0.005 indicates that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This shows that the experimental class using group guidance services with the Overcoming Resistance To Change technique is effective in increasing the Self Efficacy of students who work part-time at SMA Negeri 4 Tanjung Balai.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of group guidance with alternative interpretation techniques to enhance social self-acceptance in 16 vocational students (Vocational High School PAB 12 SAENTIS, Indonesia). Using a pretest-posttest control design, social self-acceptance was measured via a Likert-scale questionnaire based on Sheerer’s (2010) framework. Results showed significant improvement in the experimental group (pretest M = 68.75, posttest M = 127, p < 0.001), with normality (Shapiro-Wilk p > 0.05) and homogeneity (Levene’s p = 0.564) confirmed. Qualitative findings highlighted increased self-confidence and peer support. The study demonstrates that alternative interpretation techniques effectively improve social self-acceptance, addressing a gap in non-Western educational settings. Despite its promising results, the study is limited by a small sample size, short intervention duration, and lack of long-term follow-up. Future research should involve larger and more diverse populations and explore sustained behavioral outcomes over time. The findings have practical implications for integrating structured cognitive techniques into school counseling programs to support students’ psychosocial development.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services using the shaping technique in reducing doomscrolling behavior among junior high school students. The method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method employing a Nonequivalent Control Group Design (pretest-posttest). The research population consists of 50 students from the eighth grade of State Junior High School 1 Natal. The sample consists of 20 students selected through purposive sampling, consisting of 10 students in the experimental group and 10 students in the control group. The research instrument is a Doomscrolling Scale with 15 statement items using a Likert scale of 1–7. Prerequisite tests were conducted with normality tests (Shapiro-Wilk) and homogeneity tests, while data analysis used an independent sample t-test with the assistance of SPSS 25.0.  The research results indicate a significant influence of the group guidance service using the shaping technique on the reduction of doomscrolling behavior, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The average doomscrolling score of the experimental group decreased from 77.50% to 30.70%, while the control group experienced an insignificant decrease, from 76.40% to 75.50%. The novelty of this study lies in the application of the shaping technique in the context of negative digital behavior, which has still been rarely studied in depth among high school students. The practical implications of these findings are that guidance teachers and school counselors can integrate the shaping technique into guidance programs to address excessive addiction to consuming negative content on social media. The contribution of this study adds empirical literature on behavior interventions based on psychological techniques in the fields of education and counseling, particularly related to digital mental health issues among adolescents.

Abstract

Kecemasan akademik menjadi masalah psikologis yang semakin meningkat di kalangan siswa, terutama siswa SMA. Tekanan akademik yang berasal dari tuntutan nilai yang tinggi, tugas yang menumpuk, dan persiapan ujian seringkali memicu kecemasan yang mengganggu stabilitas emosional. Jika tidak ditangani, kecemasan ini tidak hanya menghambat konsentrasi dan mengurangi motivasi, tetapi juga dapat merusak kesehatan mental siswa dan berpotensi melemahkan kinerja akademik mereka, yang pada akhirnya menghambat pencapaian tujuan pendidikan jangka panjang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh layanan konseling kelompok dengan pendekatan terapi seni dalam menurunkan kecemasan akademik pada siswa kelas XI MAS Muallimin UNIVA Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimental, yaitu model kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan skala kecemasan akademik yang telah divalidasi dan dianalisis menggunakan uji-t berpasangan dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 27. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penurunan tingkat kecemasan yang signifikan pada kelompok eksperimen setelah mengikuti sesi konseling kelompok berbasis terapi seni, khususnya melalui kegiatan menggambar. Pendekatan ini terbukti membantu siswa menyalurkan emosi, meningkatkan pemahaman diri, dan memperbaiki mekanisme koping. Dengan demikian, layanan konseling kelompok berbasis terapi seni terbukti efektif dalam mengurangi kecemasan akademik dan mendukung perkembangan emosional dan sosial siswa di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services using the ABCDE technique in reducing students’ anxiety in memorizing the Qur’an at MTs Hifzhil Qur’an. Anxiety is one of the factors that can hinder the memorization process and reduce students’ motivation to learn. The ABCDE technique, which is part of the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach, is designed to help students identify and replace irrational beliefs that are the source of anxiety. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group type. The research sample consisted of 20 eighth-grade students who were selected using purposive sampling techniques and divided into an experimental group and a control group. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis using a paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between anxiety levels before and after the intervention in the experimental group. The obtained significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that group guidance using the ABCDE technique is effective in reducing students’ anxiety in memorizing the Qur’an. These findings support the use of the ABCDE technique as a relevant psychopedagogical intervention in the context of religious education.

Abstract

Students are the main subjects in the educational process at school, where Guidance and Counselling (BK) teachers act as facilitators to help students optimise their personal development to become independent, responsible, and prosperous individuals. Student Well-Being can be measured through several indicators, including positive feelings and freedom from anxiety or depression, rational thinking, academic fluency, good social involvement, and the absence of social issues such as isolation. This research aims to: (1) determine the condition of Student Well-Being of MAN 1 Medan students before and after receiving group counselling services with a humanistic approach; and (2) test the effectiveness of group counselling services with a humanistic approach in improving Student Well-Being. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jenis pre- The experiment and design used is One Group Pretest-Posttest. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The research population consists of 120 students from class XI Science B-1, Science B-2, and Science B-3, with 15 students selected as samples that meet the criteria, namely 13 students in the low Student Well-Being category and two students in the moderate category. The measurement instrument used is a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using the non-parametric statistical test Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, through SPSS version 20. The research results showed an average pretest score of 72.87 and a posttest score of 131.27, indicating an improvement. The hypothesis test obtained an Asymp. Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.01 (< 0.05), which means there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest data. Thus, the group guidance services with a humanistic approach have proven effective in improving the Student Well-Being of students at MAN 1 Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance with the pass the compliment game technique to increase students' confidence in SMP Muhammadiyah Sukaramai in the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research method, which is an experimental research method that allows researchers to control as many variables as possible from the existing situation. The results showed that no that there is no increase in student confidence by carrying out Group Guidance services through the 'pass the compliment' game technique for grade VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah Sukaramai, Tegal Sari I, Kec. Medan Area, North Sumatra 20216 for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Behavioral Contract Technique (Group Counseling with Behavioral Contract Technique / GC-BCT) in improving the work readiness of vocational high school students. The study employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group model. The research sample consists of 30 students selected purposively and divided into two groups: experimental and control, each comprising 15 students. The instrument used is the Work Readiness Scale with high reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.91). Data analysis was conducted using paired t-tests and independent t-tests with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The research results indicate that there was a significant increase in students' work readiness after participating in group counseling services using the behavioral contract technique, with a calculated t-value of 4.280 and a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 (< 0.05). Improvements occurred in the aspects of discipline, responsibility, communication, and achievement motivation. These results demonstrate that GC-BCT is effective in enhancing vocational high school students' work readiness, as it promotes behavioral commitment and collective responsibility through social reinforcement within the group.

Abstract

Abstract: this paper aims to describe Islamic counseling from a philosophical perspective. However, Islamic counseling cannot be separated from the philosophical foundation as a foundation in analyzing the ontology, epistemology and axiology of Islamic counseling. This paper uses a library research approach, where data is obtained and collected from literature studies. Analysis of the data in this paper requires the author's important role in interpreting the data. In the end, the material object of Islamic Counseling philosophy is the same as the object of philosophy in general, namely everything that exists. Islamic counseling study methods can be done by; Normative, Historical, Linguistic, Contextual, Traditional, Critical, Hermeneutic Approaches.
