Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an essential skill for university students, empowering them to manage their academic endeavors through goal-setting, self-monitoring, and reflection. This study explores the implementation of SRL strategies to promote learner autonomy, focusing on the interplay of technology, culture, and education. Using qualitative methods, the research analyzed data from interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students and educators. Findings reveal that while students excel in goal-setting (75%), engagement in monitoring (60%) and reflection (25%) remains limited, inhibiting the full SRL cycle. Challenges such as unfamiliarity with SRL (60%), poor time management (50%), and inadequate feedback (40%) further hinder adoption. Educators emphasize SRL in feedback and goal-setting (80%) but struggle with embedding it comprehensively in curricula (50%). The study highlights technology's potential to scaffold SRL through tools that enhance feedback, progress tracking, and personalized learning. To foster learner autonomy, the research recommends structured training for students, professional development for educators, and curriculum realignment to address cultural and systemic barriers. These insights aim to advance inclusive, learner-centered environments in higher education

Abstract

Digital transformation is fundamentally changing the landscape of the global labor market, especially in the manufacturing sector that is increasingly adopting automation technology. Developing countries, including Indonesia, face significant challenges in responding to shifting skills needs due to these technological developments. This study aims to analyze in depth the impact of automation on labor market dynamics in the manufacturing sector, focusing on changing patterns of skills demand and their implications for labor productivity and resilience. Using a sophisticated econometric approach, this study utilizes panel data from the manufacturing industry in Indonesia over the past ten years. The analysis was conducted using fixed-effects and multivariate regression methods to assess the relationship between the adoption rate of automation technology and key variables of the labor market, such as changes in skill composition, wage levels, and demand for skilled versus unskilled labor. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant impact of automation in reducing the demand for non-skilled labor, while specialized skills, especially in the field of technology and maintenance, are experiencing an increase in demand. This research provides important insights for the formulation of policies that support the upskilling of the workforce in the face of the digital era, and shows that the sustainability of the manufacturing sector is highly dependent on the adaptation and development of technology-based skills.

Abstract

Performance-based management has been widely adopted as a managerial approach to enhance organizational efficiency and accountability in increasingly competitive and complex environments. However, many organizations continue to experience inefficiencies despite the formal implementation of performance-based management systems, indicating a gap between managerial intent and actual operational outcomes. This study aims to examine the role of performance-based management in improving organizational efficiency by analyzing its overall effect and the relative contribution of its key dimensions, including performance planning, performance monitoring, performance evaluation, and performance feedback. This study employed a quantitative explanatory research design. Data were collected through a structured survey administered to managerial-level employees involved in the implementation and evaluation of performance-based management practices within their organizations. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to assess the relationship between performance-based management and organizational efficiency. The results indicate that performance-based management has a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational efficiency. Further analysis shows that performance planning and performance monitoring are the strongest contributors to efficiency, emphasizing the importance of proactive managerial practices. In contrast, performance evaluation and feedback demonstrate weaker effects, suggesting that their impact depends on how effectively performance information is used in managerial decision-making. This study contributes to the performance management literature by offering an integrative organizational-level perspective and provides practical insights for managers seeking to enhance efficiency through effective performance-based management implementation.

Abstract

Background: Constitutional protection of minority rights remains a fundamental issue in contemporary constitutional law, particularly in the context of increasing political polarization, public health crises, and democratic backsliding. Although constitutions formally guarantee equality and non-discrimination, the effectiveness of these protections varies significantly across jurisdictions and minority groups. Objective: This study aims to examine comparative constitutional frameworks across regions and to identify the most effective constitutional mechanisms, judicial practices, and implementation challenges affecting religious, ethnic, LGBTQ+, linguistic, and other minority groups. Methods: This research employs a comparative legal analysis based on a systematic review of 25 Scopus-indexed publications published between 2019 and 2024. The analysis covers constitutional provisions, judicial decisions, and enforcement mechanisms from jurisdictions in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Results: The findings indicate that constitutional courts are the most effective mechanism for protecting minority rights, with an average effectiveness rate of 85%, outperforming legislative and administrative mechanisms. European jurisdictions demonstrate the highest level of protection, while African jurisdictions show comparatively lower effectiveness. Religious minorities constitute the largest proportion of constitutional cases, followed by ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ groups. Non-discrimination principles show the strongest implementation, whereas political representation mechanisms remain the weakest. Conclusion: The study concludes that strong constitutional courts and robust non-discrimination principles are central to effective minority rights protection. However, enforcement gaps, political resistance, and limited institutional capacity continue to hinder the realization of constitutional guarantees, indicating the need for targeted institutional and policy reforms.

Abstract

Background: Human rights violations and political interference in judicial systems remain persistent global challenges that undermine accountability, democratic governance, and the rule of law. Armed conflicts, authoritarian governance, and socio-political crises have intensified systematic abuses by both state and non-state actors, while weakening the independence of judicial institutions responsible for upholding justice. Objective: This study aims to examine contemporary human rights violations and assess the effectiveness of international legal mechanisms in addressing these violations, while also analyzing the extent to which political influence affects judicial independence in modern democratic systems. Methods: The research employs a qualitative approach using doctrinal legal analysis and comparative case studies. Data are derived from international legal instruments, judicial decisions, United Nations reports, International Criminal Court (ICC) documents, regional human rights bodies, and scholarly literature published within the last five years. Results: The findings indicate that international legal frameworks provide essential mechanisms for addressing human rights violations; however, enforcement remains inconsistent due to political constraints, jurisdictional limitations, and state non-cooperation. Case studies from Ukraine, Myanmar, Ethiopia, and Venezuela reveal both successes and structural limitations of international legal interventions. Additionally, political interference in judicial appointments, budgetary control, and legislative restrictions significantly undermines judicial independence, contributing to democratic backsliding. Conclusion: The study concludes that strengthening international human rights protection and safeguarding judicial independence require enhanced international cooperation, robust legal frameworks, judicial autonomy, and active civil society engagement. These measures are crucial for ensuring accountability, protecting civil liberties, and promoting democratic resilience in contemporary governance systems.
