Abstract

Abstract: Natural lighting and natural ventilation are very important in the architecture of cultural heritage buildings, especially concerning thermal comfort and energy efficiency. This study aims to explore the impact of these two elements on the design of cultural heritage buildings in tropical climates. The method used is a systematic literature review, highlighting the latest relevant scientific articles. The results of the study show that the optimal use of natural lighting and ventilation can improve occupant comfort. A reduction in indoor temperature of up to 5°C can also decrease the energy requirements for cooling and lighting. In addition, passive design strategies that consider building orientation and the use of local materials have proven effective in managing heat and humidity loads. These conclusions are expected to serve as a reference for practitioners and managers of heritage buildings. By applying sustainable design principles, they can maintain the historical integrity of buildings while achieving better energy performance. Abstract

As of March 31, 2020, Indonesia reported 1,528 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 136 deaths and a case fatality rate (CFR) of 8.9%. Covid-19 pandemic limited activities, including the dissemination of information; thus, an intensive education was required to build community preparedness. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of counseling through WhatsApp on the preparedness of Villa Pamulang Depok community in dealing with Covid-19. This study used an analytical quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design method. The samples of this study amounted to 44 people who were selected by proportional sample technique. The respondents received education via WhatsApp for 14 days. The effects of information dissemination through WhatsApp was measured by using paired sample t-test. The results of this study showed that there was a relationship between the spread of Covid-19 information via WhatsApp on the community preparedness at Villa Pamulang Depok in facing Covid-19 with p-value 0.004. The findings also showed the difference of Covid-19 preparedness before and after providing information about Covid-19 through WhatsApp. This research was expected to enrich knowledge of community preparedness as an effort of Covid-19 prevention.

Abstract

The focus of this study is the issue of reorganizing the preexisting Islamic Geometric Patterns found at the Cheng Ho Mosque via the use of computer modeling techniques. The need for computer modeling research for rearranging geometric patterns at the Cheng Ho Mosque may be attributed to many factors. The objective is to use digitization to streamline the ornamental design process. The study methodology used included the analysis of geometric forms, which were then processed and patterned using Parametric Islamic Geometric Patterns with the assistance of Grasshopper software. This study employs the Islamic octagonal archetype, similar to Chinese geometric ornamentation, using circular geometry with a radius input, as discussed in the preceding article. The inclusion of the division shape serves as a necessary limitation to facilitate the cutting of the recurring patterns. The findings indicate that the algorithmic technique is constructed using a collection of parameter inputs organized into four primary components: octagonal basis geometry, repetition procedure, partition or boundary-shaped surface, and material dimension simulation. However, it also demonstrates varying parameter inputs, posing challenges in organizing them accurately to generate the octagonal form. Visual scripts may effectively depict Islamic geometry in open systems that exhibit parametric adaptability to the fundamental principles of division. During the design processing phase, it is possible to exert control over the pattern proportions in some instances.

Abstract

Adolescent reproductive health is a crucial issue directly related to the quality of life and future of the younger generation. Adolescent knowledge is a vital foundation for addressing reproductive health issues. Therefore, health promotion media that adapt to the needs and lifestyles of today's adolescents are necessary. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of digital reproduction classes as a learning medium for increasing adolescents' knowledge about reproductive health. It is hoped that this increased knowledge will stimulate awareness of the importance of reproductive health. This research is a single-group experimental study using a pre-post-test design for the trial of the reproductive health classes. The trial was conducted in three stages: a small-scale trial (n=7), a limited-scale trial (n=60), and a large-scale trial (n=380). Data were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test to compare knowledge scores before and after the intervention, and the N-Gain formula was used to assess class effectiveness. The small-scale trial increased the knowledge of 85.7% of participants, with an average increase of 14.3 points. The limited-scale trial showed an average increase of 15 points, while the large-scale trial showed an average increase of 15.54 points, with a p-value of 0.000 (95% CI: 16.67–14.42). The N-Gain score in the small-scale trial was 0.56, compared to 0.47 in the large-scale trial. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the class in improving adolescents' knowledge. These findings reinforce the potential of online learning as an innovation in health promotion.
