Abstract

Humans certainly have a desire to fulfill their needs to survive, be it clothing, food, or shelter. Along with the development of civilization, especially in modern human civilization, this consumption is always closely related to signs, images and codes where consumption that was previously carried out to fulfill primary needs, now becomes an action carried out because of the influence of other actors through the subconscious so that hyperconsumption can occur. The study examines the images, signs and codes that exist on women's bodies and the form of representation formed from their interactions on social media and the real world. The involvement of women in this discussion, because women are often seen as targets of advertising that are deeply involved in the arena of capitalism and media eroticism. The method used in this study is a qualitative method, this method was chosen because it is considered able to explore meaning in detail. The theory used is the theory of hyperreality put forward by Baudrillard and the theory of social representation put forward by Serge Moscovici. Both theories were chosen because they were considered relevant to studying phenomena related to this problem, namely regarding the social representation of women in the form of images, signs and codes. The results of this study are as follows: (1) social media plays a role in forming social representations of women, (2) The objects used by women are signs of the meaning or image they wish to convey.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has infiltrated the education domain, offering enhanced learning effectiveness. This study examines the construction of student knowledge in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) development from a sociological perspective in education. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, incorporating literature studies and data collection techniques. The results indicate that AI facilitates the construction of student knowledge. In the externalization stage, students build knowledge by expressing ideas outside themselves or through thinking. In the objectivation stage, ideas become part of social reality through interaction. In the internalization stage, social knowledge is adopted back into the individual. Artificial Intelligence provides access to extensive learning resources, facilitates online discussions, and personalizes learning according to individual and group needs. However, issues emerge, such as the digital literacy gap, differences in access to technology, and potential algorithmic bias, which can affect the validity of the knowledge built. From a sociology of education perspective, while AI plays an important role, its use must be carefully considered to avoid individual mindset errors caused by the technology. This study contributes to the sociology of education by showing how AI supports student knowledge construction through externalization, objectivation, and internalization. It highlights AI’s role as a social medium in learning while also addressing issues, such as digital literacy gaps, unequal access, and algorithmic bias, offering insights for educators, policymakers, and technology developers.

Abstract

Introduction: Nutrient-poor soil can lead to reduced crop yields. Biochar-organic fertilizer has demonstrated positive effects over several growing seasons. However, the efficacy of biochar-organic fertilizers varies based on the raw materials used and the duration of their application in the soil. This study aims to assess the residues of biochar, manure, and compost one year after their application on maize plants in Alfisol. Methods: A 300 kg/ha dosage was employed for a single treatment of biochar, manure, and compost. Additionally, biochar was combined with manure or compost at a dose of 150 kg/ha each. The experiment utilized a randomized block design with nine treatments and three replications, including a control group. The treatments comprised biochar made from coconut shell and husk, compost, manure, shell+compost biochar mixture, shell+manure biochar mixture, husk+compost biochar mixture, and husk+manure biochar mixture. Corn variety Pertiwi 3 was harvested upon reaching physiological maturity. Results: Combining husk biochar with chicken manure exhibited the most favorable response regarding plant height, leaf area, and weight. Furthermore, combining cob biochar and chicken manure yielded optimal cob length, weight without seeds, and seed weight. Conclusion: After one year, applying shell biochar mixed with manure demonstrated the most significant residual effect on corn plants.

Abstract

The use of synthetic dyes in the textile industry produces wastewater with high potential for environmental pollution. Utilizing natural dyes from Ketapang leaves offers an alternative for reducing such wastewater and can be considered a sustainable dyeing method. According to data from the UNNES Conservation Development Agency, there are 5,170 Ketapang trees around the UNNES campus, indicating a plentiful supply for natural dye production. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of Ketapang leaf dye in enhancing the aesthetic quality of Shibori products, specifically in terms of motif aesthetics and color direction. The research employs a quantitative approach with an experimental design, using a single variable. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive percentage statistics. The Shibori with the highest aesthetic value was produced using lime as a fixative, achieving a 95% rating (highly quality). Color direction analysis showed that each fixative produced different color outcomes: lime resulted in a Dijon color, alum produced a Corn color, and ferrous sulfate yielded a Seaweed color. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that natural dyes from Ketapang leaves contribute significantly to both motif aesthetics and color direction in Shibori dyeing, offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative for textile production.
