Abstract

The discussion of Papua conflict with all sorts of controversy has always captured the attention and sparked the response of many, ranging from the complexity of the underlying problem, international world intervention, gun contact to the lives of innocent civilians. Many people consider the best episode in the history of the Papua conflict resolution was when President Abdurahman Wahid (Gus Dur) took office. The research was intended to get an image of the representation of peace message that Gus Dur used in Mamat Alkatiri’s Stand Up Comedy on the Gusdurian First Friday Forum in Jakarta, which streamed on NU YouTube channel. The research used qualitative method of Roland Barthes’ semiotics model of analysis approach to produce comprehensive exposure. The research shows that Gus Dur’s peace message in Mamat Alkatiri’s stand up comedy suggests that Papua's conflict resolution was not carried out by violence and military operations. The thing to do is opening a dialogue room and promoting a humanist approach. In addition, Gus Dur also emphasized accommodations on local wisdom and cultural symbols as a reward for Papuanese identity. Despite raising controversy, however, over time, everything Gus Dur did turned out to be an idea to many that Papuan conflict solutions needed a particular approach.

Abstract

This study analyzed the mediamorphosis of Aula Magazine from a postcolonial perspective to examine how an Islam Nusantara media outlet maintained its existence, cultural identity, and epistemic autonomy amid the hegemony of global digital media. Mediamorphosis was conceptualized as a process of negotiating the epistemic position of local Islamic media within a digital landscape dominated by Western media values and knowledge structures. A qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm was employed. Data were collected through interviews with key participants and documentation of Aula Magazine’s transformation and were analyzed inductively to identify the strategic dimensions of mediamorphosis. The findings indicated that Aula implemented three main strategies. First, co-evolution was achieved by expanding its presence across digital platforms and social media to create alternative spaces for Islamic discourse. Second, convergence was realized through the development of the majalahaula.id news portal, which integrated journalism, da’wah, and Islam Nusantara perspectives. Third, complexity was reflected in audience participation, contributor engagement, and content designed to attract younger readers. These strategies demonstrated that Aula’s mediamorphosis not only sustained its institutional existence but also functioned as symbolic resistance to digital colonialism by preserving and disseminating Indonesian Islamic knowledge. The study’s novelty lay in interpreting mediamorphosis as a strategy for both symbolic resistance and epistemic survival.

Abstract

The demand for speed in delivering news online often causes journalists to sacrifice accuracy and ethical standards. Therefore, prophetic journalism emerges as a paradigm that emphasises prophetic values. This study aims to identify how Kediripedia.com implements these values and how the platform leverages opportunities and faces challenges to maintain journalistic quality. A constructivist paradigm and qualitative approach were employed to collect data through interviews, observation and documentation, which were then analysed using Teun A. van Dijk’s three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis. The findings reveal that Kediripedia.com successfully integrates prophetic journalism values into its editorial practices and news products. Shiddiq (truthfulness) is reflected in editorial honesty; Amanah (trustworthiness) in the team’s moral responsibility; Tabligh (communication) in the use of a distinctive storytelling style; and Fathanah (wisdom) in the broad interpretation of local issues. Challenges such as financial pressure, maintaining integrity and competing with other digital media are addressed through content diversification, community collaboration and developing a unique audience segmentation strategy, which strengthens Kediripedia.com’s position as a local media platform.

Abstract

Discussions about films as a tool to convey messages are indispensable in public entertainment. With the development of the film world, Web series has recently become the talk of the community. One of the most popular is the series "Imperfect The Series" directed by Naya Anindita with a comedy-drama genre. The storyline is about boarding children with different personalities, regional origins and their purpose in boarding houses. Imperfect the Series. The semiotic theory of Roland Barthes is used by the author for research and the use of a qualitative descriptive approach is shown by dialogue, the behavior of the characters in one of the scenes. Based on the results of research and data analysis, it is obtained that there are two types of code mixing contained in the dialogue between characters. in the film Imperfect the series, namely the inner code mixing and outer code mixing. Friendship occurs because of the support of trust, acceptance and intimacy with each other. Acceptance is caused by good communication. Communication interpersonal is also an exchange namely the act of conveying and receiving messages reciprocally. The foundation of trust includes respecting each other and accepting differences. It is hoped that this research can serve as a reference for similar research in the future.
