Abstract

In the era of globalized higher education, effective English communication has become essential for academic professionals, including those from non-English disciplines. Nevertheless, non-English lecturers frequently face obstacles in developing spoken proficiency due to limited opportunities for practice, elevated anxiety levels, and inadequate access to formal language training. This case study investigates the use of WhatsApp voice notes as a pedagogical tool to support English-speaking development among non-English lecturers at a private university in Indonesia. Over a six-week intervention, seven lecturers from diverse academic backgrounds participated in structured voice-based tasks and engaged in asynchronous peer interactions via WhatsApp. Data were collected through voice recordings, semi-structured interviews, and reflective journals. Findings indicate that the use of WhatsApp voice notes created a flexible, low-pressure environment conducive to gradual improvements in fluency and communicative confidence. Participants reported reduced speaking anxiety, increased willingness to engage in English, and greater clarity in articulating academic ideas. Moreover, peer feedback and interaction fostered a sense of community and collaborative learning. This study contributes to the Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) literature by illustrating the potential of widely accessible, low-cost digital tools to facilitate oral language development among professional adult learners. The implications extend to language policy, faculty development, and the design of scalable speaking interventions within higher education institutions

Abstract

Abstract

The REACT learning strategy was introduced by the Center of Occupational Research and Development (CORD) in the United States, and it has garnered the attention of many researchers who generally study this learning strategy in the field of science subjects. Therefore, this learning strategy was designed to stimulate and attract the enthusiasm of the students in Islamic religious education, in order to facilitate their understanding and consequently improve their academic performance. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of the REACT learning strategy on students' academic achievement in Islamic religious studies at the Madrasah Aliyah. The method used was a classroom action research, "siklus" in research "cycle" atau "research cycle". this research was conducted in three different research cycles."The research sample was from the 10th grade students of Muhammadiyah 1 Private Madrasah Aliyah in Medan. Data were collected through pre-, post-siklus and monitoring attitude in academic achievement assessments in Islamic religious studies, as well as their application in daily life. Data were analyzed using a quantitative conclusion of the percentage of test scores. The results show that there is a significant difference in academic achievement between students who were taught using the REACT learning strategy. Before implementing the strategy, students had a percentage of 69%, whereas after implementing the REACT learning strategy, they achieved a high percentage of 85%. This indicates that the REACT learning strategy has a positive effect on students' academic achievement in Islamic religious studies at the Madrasah Aliyah.

Abstract

One definition of deep learning is a strategy that prioritizes key knowledge application and conceptual comprehension. The goal of the research is to offer both theoretical and practical support for creating deep learning strategies that work in elementary school settings, particularly when it comes to teaching English. Observations, interviews, and an engineering triangulation approach are among the qualitative techniques employed. Teachers and elementary school pupils made up the study subjects. Through data reduction, data display, and conclusions, the gathered data is examined. The results of the study show that the application of Deep Learning to mathematical studies has a positive effect on students' understanding. This method encourages students' active involvement through various interactive activities, such as simulations and experiments, making the learning process more meaningful and enjoyable. However, the application of this method is also faced with a number of challenges, such as limited time to complete the curriculum and uneven access to technology among students

Abstract

Abstract

This study scrutinizes the quality of translation for students who use translation assistance. A new text translated by students is then studied to see how successful students are at translating the text. First, the quality of the translation was analyzed using a scoring rubric in the form of the first, which deals with the perception of the source text message related to the accuracy of the translation, including the translation which has an inaccurate effect on understanding the source text and classified into eight categories: faux sens, nonsense, additions, omissions, unresolved extralinguistic references, loss of meaning, inappropriate linguistic variations (registers, styles, dialects). Second, nonconforming renderings that affect target language (TL) expressions are divided into five categories: spelling, grammar, lexical items, text, and style. Finally, preliminary presentation affects the delivery of the source text's primary or secondary function. The research uses content analysis design and descriptive qualitative methods as the umbrella. The study's results found that there were few grammatical omissions because the target language had absorption from the source language. In table 1, the translator does not make mistakes regarding style and text because, in principle, the language in the news is the standard language. Linguistic problems include grammatical differences, lexical ambiguity, and meaning ambiguity. At the same time, cultural issues refer to different situational features. This classification coincides with, for example, regional languages such as Sundanese, Malay, or Arabic
