Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic socio-cultural values within nature-based environmental education by comparing three educational models: Sekolah Alam and eco-pesantren in Indonesia, and Forest Schools in Europe. The growing global ecological crisis highlights the need for educational approaches that promote not only cognitive development but also value internalization, character formation, and ecological consciousness. Using a qualitative design with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA 2020, this study reviewed literature from Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, Google Scholar, GARUDA, and ResearchGate published between 2019 and 2025. Of the 1,546 initial records, 30 studies met the inclusion criteria and were synthesized thematically. The findings show that: (1) Sekolah Alam cultivates ecological character through experiential learning grounded in Islamic values and local wisdom; (2) Eco-pesantren integrate Islamic ecological theology, khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), ihsan (excellence), and ecological monotheism, into conservation practices, organic farming, and waste management; (3) Forest Schools emphasize exploration, learner agency, and wellbeing without religious foundations; and (4) all three models foster emotional and ethical connections to nature while differing in value orientations. The proposed Islamic Socio-Cultural and Nature-Based Environmental Education Model offers a framework for developing faith-based and sustainability-oriented Islamic education curricula.

Abstract

The practice of hoarding goods poses a serious challenge to the realization of distributive justice within the Islamic economic system. This study aims to examine the prohibition of hoarding through a comprehensive fiqh al-hadith approach by tracing the legal status of relevant hadiths and analyzing the implications of hoarding practices for market dynamics and socio-economic stability. Employing a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical design, this study is based on an extensive literature review that integrates tahrij al-hadith, syarh al-hadith, and a normative analysis grounded in maqasid al-shariah. The findings reveal that the prohibition of hoarding articulated in the hadith literature is not merely rooted in religious injunctions but also embodies profound ethical and social considerations that remain highly relevant to contemporary issues of goods distribution. Hoarding practices generate artificial scarcity, induce price inflation, and disrupt market equilibrium, ultimately imposing welfare losses on consumers. Accordingly, this study underscores the urgency of strengthening sharia-based regulatory oversight and enhancing public education on muamalah ethics as preventive measures against manipulative economic behavior. Overall, this study contributes to the development of a more just, ethical, and sustainable Islamic distribution framework in addressing the challenges of modern and globalized economies.

Abstract

Amidst the global euphoria surrounding the transition to a low-carbon economy, decarbonisation is in fact ushering in a new chapter in the politics of natural resources. This study aims to analyse the relationship between the global decarbonisation agenda and the politics of natural resource management in Indonesia, with a particular focus on its implications for the rights of indigenous peoples. This study employs a qualitative, critical case study design, given that the phenomenon is complex, contextual, and involves power relations that a purely quantitative approach cannot adequately explain. The findings confirm that decarbonisation not only brings about an energy transition but also creates new political arenas in the struggle for authority over territories and natural resources, where the state, the global market, and the carbon regime form a configuration of power that risks reproducing the logic of extractivism in a greener guise. The energy transition, which is normatively promoted as a solution to the climate crisis, risks creating an ecological-political paradox as strategic mineral projects, green industrial zones, and market-based carbon economies expand institutional control over forests and indigenous territories that have long served as the foundation for ecosystem sustainability. The conflict between climate mitigation and the sovereignty of indigenous communities is not an anomaly but a structural consequence of integrating nature into the logic of the carbon market and the industrialisation of clean energy.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the senior high school level still tends to emphasize cognitive-normative mastery, while spirituality, adab, moral reflection, character formation, and social sensitivity remain insufficiently integrated. Previous studies on Al-Ghazali’s epistemology have mainly focused on philosophical and mystical aspects, with limited attention to its pedagogical application in contemporary Islamic education. This article aims to reconstruct Al-Ghazali’s concepts of kasbi and laduni knowledge into a spiritual-cognitive educational model to strengthen PAI learning at SMA Peacesantren Welas Asih Garut. The study employs a qualitative conceptual approach through library research and educational reconstruction methods. Data were analyzed using conceptual synthesis and pedagogical interpretation. The findings show that the integration of kasbi and laduni knowledge can be formulated into a spiritual-cognitive educational model consisting of seven components: learning objectives, learning materials, learning strategies, spiritual habituation, teacher roles, learning outcome indicators, and evaluation. The model integrates cognitive, affective, spiritual, and practical dimensions in PAI learning. The study contributes to contemporary Islamic education by operationalizing Al-Ghazali’s epistemology into a practical framework relevant to pesantren-based secondary education.

Abstract

This study critically examines Ibn ‘Āshūr’s interpretation of the maqāṣid al-shari’ah and its potential to strengthen harmonious family values in contemporary Muslim societies, with a particular focus on Indonesia. Using a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach, the research examines Ibn ‘Āshūr’s key writings alongside classical and modern commentaries to provide a comprehensive understanding of his framework. To ensure practical relevance, the study incorporates illustrative examples drawn from jurisprudential sources and current socio-legal realities that shape Muslim family life today. The findings show that Ibn ‘Āshūr’s emphasis on preserving religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth provides a strong normative basis for addressing central issues in Islamic Family Law, such as spousal rights, gender equity, and child custody. His prioritization of justice, moral development, and public welfare underscores that legal interpretation should serve broader ethical objectives rather than rigid textualism alone. However, when applied to modern socio-cultural contexts, several challenges emerge. Evolving gender roles, diverse family structures, and socioeconomic disparities often require adaptations beyond Ibn ‘Āshūr’s original formulations. These realities call for a contextualized reading of maqāṣid to maintain its relevance and effectiveness in contemporary settings. This study’s academic contribution lies in bridging classical maqāṣid theory with the concrete needs of modern Islamic Family Law reform. By positioning Ibn ‘Āshūr’s ideas alongside those of contemporary scholars, the research clarifies where his framework remains robust and where it requires reinterpretation. This integrative approach offers a fresh analytical lens for understanding family-related legal issues, combining normative principles with socio-legal awareness.

Abstract

The global halal industry continues to grow rapidly, positioning halal certification not only as a religious obligation but also as a key indicator of product quality, safety, and market competitiveness. As a country with the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia has considerable potential to strengthen its national halal ecosystem. However, the implementation of mandatory halal certification among Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) still faces several obstacles, particularly low halal awareness and limited understanding of certification requirements and procedures. To address these challenges, the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) launched the Free Halal Certification Program (SEHATI) and involved Halal Product Process Assistants (P3H) to provide direct guidance to business actors. This study aims to (1) analyze the role of P3H in supporting the implementation of SEHATI, (2) examine the level of halal awareness among MSEs, and (3) identify supporting and inhibiting factors affecting halal awareness in Bandung Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving MSE owners and P3H assistants. The findings show that P3H plays an essential role as an educator, facilitator, and verifier, helping improve MSEs’ understanding of halal assurance and the steps required for certification. However, the effectiveness of this role is constrained by the limited number of active assistants, low halal literacy among business actors, and technical barriers in using the digital certification system. Overall, the study concludes that P3H significantly contributes to increasing halal awareness, yet further optimization through strengthened capacity, broader outreach, and better technological support remains necessary. Keywords: Halal Awareness, Halal Product Process Assistants (P3H), Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), SEHATI Program, Halal Certification.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital service platforms has intensified competition among service providers, making customer loyalty a critical factor for achieving long-term business success. This study aims to examine the influence of service quality, customer experience, perceived value, and brand trust on customer loyalty in digital service platforms. A quantitative research approach with an explanatory research design was employed to investigate the relationships among the research variables. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and distributed to users of digital service platforms through purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, validity testing, and multiple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate that service quality, customer experience, perceived value, and brand trust each have a positive and significant influence on customer loyalty. Simultaneously, these four variables significantly explain customer loyalty, indicating that they collectively contribute to customers' intentions to continue using digital service platforms. Among the independent variables, brand trust was identified as the strongest predictor of customer loyalty, followed by customer experience, service quality, and perceived value. These findings suggest that fostering customer loyalty requires organizations to focus not only on delivering high-quality services but also on creating positive customer experiences, enhancing customers' perceived value, and building strong brand trust through reliable and secure digital services. The study contributes to the marketing and consumer behavior literature by providing empirical evidence regarding the determinants of customer loyalty in digital service platforms and offers practical implications for managers seeking to improve customer retention and long-term business performance.

Abstract

The issue of women’s leadership in Islam remains a subject of theological and social debate among contemporary Muslim societies. One of the figures who has triggered a global discourse on this issue is Amina Wadud, particularly following her act of leading a Friday prayer in 2005. This study aims to analyze Amina Wadud’s thought on gender equality and women’s leadership in religious worship, as well as to examine the responses of the Muslim world to these ideas from a sociological and historical perspective of contemporary Islamic civilization. This research employs a qualitative approach in the form of library research, utilizing the works of Amina Wadud as primary sources and various scholarly articles and academic journals as secondary sources. The analysis is conducted using a feminist hermeneutical approach to understand the construction of gender-just interpretations of the Qur’an. The findings indicate that Amina Wadud’s interpretation emphasizes the principle of gender equality in Islam and argues that there is no explicit textual prohibition in the Qur’an against women’s leadership in certain contexts. Muslim responses to this line of thought vary, ranging from normative rejection to progressive acceptance, influenced by cultural, historical, and social factors. This study underscores the importance of inclusive dialogue among academics, religious scholars, and Muslim communities in responding to feminist interpretations of Islam. Keywords: Amina Wadud, gender equality, women’s leadership, contemporary Islam, feminist hermeneutics.
