Abstract

Overexpression of Human Epidermal Receptor-2 (HER-2) is the cause of the development of breast cancer, so HER-2 can be a target for anticancer therapy. Trastuzumab is the drug of choice in inhibiting the HER-2 receptor and tyrosine kinase, but the weakness of this drug is that drug resistance can occur. Naringin has potential as a breast cancer therapy. The research aims to determine the inhibiting overexpression of the HER-2 receptor by naringin using in silico method. Molecular docking has been carried out by optimizing naringin and trastuzumab, preparing the HER-2 protein target (PDB ID 3PP0), validating the molecular docking protocol, and docking naringin and trastuzumab on HER-2. The research produced a binding energy of -8,66 kcal/mol, while the binding energies of the original ligand and trastuzumab to HER-2 were -9,94 kcal/mol and -5,87 kcal/mol, respectively. The binding energy shows that naringin has potential as an anti-breast cancer agent as indicated by its stronger affinity for HER2.

Abstract

MSMEs in the food sector are among the main supporters of Indonesia's economic activities. As a food production center in the form of tofu products, Kediri Regency is well known to the public, with white, yellow, silk, and other tofu products. Most of the tofu production carried out to date is only in the form of tofu products in their original form. This is because tofu craftsmen have not utilized other processed tofu products to increase their income. This community service activity aims to introduce innovations in processed tofu products, packaging, marketing, and processing of liquid tofu waste into new products which are expected to increase the income of tofu makers in Karanganyar village, Wates District, Kediri Regency. This community service activity was carried out using the media of presenting several materials and carrying out two-way interactive discussions. Evaluation of this activity was carried out with pre- and post-tests from the participants by answering 10 questions related to the three materials. The results obtained after being analyzed using the SPSS program showed differences between the pre-and post-tests of the participants, whereas the post-test results showed that the participants had understood the material provided during this activity. Thus, it can be concluded that this activity can be proven to be understood by the participants regarding innovation in processed tofu products and processing of tofu liquid waste.

Abstract

Global health issues have become increasingly urgent following the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in approximately 6.6 million deaths by 2022. This impact has prompted communities to revert to traditional medicines, aligning with the National Development Planning System (RPJPN) 2005-2025, which promotes a health paradigm through traditional remedies. Community service activities were carried out in partnership with the Ngudi Makmur Farmer Group (POKTAN) in Dlingo Village, Bantul Regency. The primary objective of this activity was to enhance residents’ knowledge in Dlingo Village regarding the benefits and processing of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA). The methods employed included material development, counseling sessions, question-and-answer discussions, and direct practical training in the preparation of aromatherapy candles. Evaluation was undertaken using pretests and posttests, which demonstrated a significant increase in participants’ understanding. The average scores rose from 81.67 (pretest) to 132.5 (posttest), with a statistically significant difference (p <0.001). These findings indicate that the counseling was effective in improving knowledge about TOGA and its utilization in producing aromatherapy candles. Such activities not only enhance awareness but also reinforce community autonomy in managing traditional medicinal resources, in line with the health-related objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Hydrolyzed collagen (HC) exhibits excellent anti-aging activity, but when applied topically, it faces limitations related to its physicochemical properties and low permeability to penetrate the skin. A system like liposomes is required. With the addition of cholesterol and Tween 80 surfactant to the liposome formulation, it is anticipated to enhance the characteristics and stability of the system in various combination ratios of Soy phosphatidylcholine: cholesterol: Tween 80, namely (F1= 4: 2: 1), (F2= 4: 1: 1), and (F3= 4: 1: 2). Characterization test results indicate that formula F3 exhibits the best characteristics, with respective values for particle size, PDI, zeta potential, and %EE being 63.26nm ± 0.73; 0.182 ± 0.011; 2.5mV ± 0.1; and 85.54% ± 0.20. Real-time stability test results, analyzed statistically using a Paired T-test, yield p-values for all three formulas (Sig 2-tailed) < 0.05, signifying a significant difference. Formula F2 demonstrates the smallest differences in particle size reduction and %EE. Hence, it can be observed that F2 stands out as the formula with the best characteristics and stability compared to F1 and F3. Abstract

Bali is renowned as a tourist island rich in local wisdom, one of which is the traditional herbal remedy loloh cemcem from Penglipuran Village, Bangli Regency. This herbal drink has long been used to maintain health and alleviate internal heat. However, the loloh cemcem products produced by the local community still fall short of the standards for quality traditional medicine preparations, particularly in terms of product quality, packaging, and labeling. Through a community service initiative, activities such as observation, education, training, and mentoring were conducted for local entrepreneurs, focusing on proper selection of raw materials, hygienic production processes, safe packaging practices, accurate labeling of composition, and the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The training, attended by more than 20 participants from MSMEs and youth organizations (karang taruna), aimed to enhance public understanding of the benefits and importance of high-quality herbal products. It is hoped that loloh cemcem can evolve into a safe, high-quality, efficacious, and competitive traditional beverage. Furthermore, product innovation may serve as an alternative strategy for developing loloh cemcem preparations and expanding their recognition among the wider public.
