Abstract

Burns are still a very serious concern so they require immediate treatment. This research is a qualitative research with phenomenological design. Participants in this study amounted to 10 people. The selection of informants for this study used the Purposive Sampling technique. Data collection in this study was carried out through in-depth interview methods, and observation or observation. In-depth interviews use semi-structured questions. The interview is equipped with field notes that serve to identify non-verbal responses and situations during the interview process with informants. The results of this study obtained two themes, namely public knowledge about burns with sub-categories, and knowledge and first treatment of burns. Public knowledge about burns is still general. Society defines burns as injuries caused by fire, hot water, electrical short circuits and skin blisters. The handling of burns carried out by the community is using traditional methods obtained from their respective experiences. The first treatment carried out by the community was by giving toothpaste, honey, aloe vera (aloe vera), and running water

Abstract

The high turnover rate of healthcare workers can impact the smoothness and stability of hospital services. This study aims to determine the relationship between the dimensions of workload time load, mental effect load, and psychological stress load with turnover intention in healthcare workers at Pinna Hospital Bekasi in 2025. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional study design, involving 92 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Spearman test. The results showed a significant relationship between workload and turnover intention (p = 0.049), as well as a significant relationship in each workload dimension with turnover intention. Only the psychological stress load dimension had a significant relationship with turnover intention (p = 0.001). Meanwhile, the time load dimension (p = 0.303) and mental effect load (p = 0.394) did not show a significant relationship. The higher the workload, especially psychological stress, the greater the tendency of healthcare workers to intend to change jobs. The results of the bivariate test on the workload variable indicate a positive and significant relationship between workload and turnover intention, a relationship that illustrates that the heavier the workload perceived by healthcare workers, the higher their intention to move or leave their jobs, although the strength of the relationship is relatively weak. Therefore, hospital management is expected to review the work system and pay attention to staff welfare to reduce turnover rates.

Abstract

Background: Simulation-based learning (SBL) is widely used in nursing education, especially in high-risk settings such as emergency departments. However, limited qualitative research has explored how emergency nurses experience simulation in clinical practice.Purpose: This study aimed to explore emergency room nurses’ lived experiences of simulation-based learning and to understand how simulation contributes to their professional development and clinical practice. Methods: A descriptive phenomenological approach was used. Ten emergency room nurses from a public hospital under Oman’s Ministry of Health were recruited using purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s seven-step phenomenological method to identify the meaning of participants’ experiences. Results: Three themes emerged from the analysis: (1) simulation as a bridge between theory and clinical practice, where simulation enabled nurses to translate theoretical knowledge into practical decision-making in realistic emergency scenarios; (2) developing professional confidence and clinical competence, where repeated simulation practice strengthened clinical skills, preparedness, and confidence; and (3) simulation as a strategy for improving nursing services, where participants perceived simulation as contributing to improved clinical performance, teamwork, and patient care quality. Participants also identified practical challenges, including scheduling constraints and workload demands, which limited participation in simulation activities. Conclusion: Simulation-based learning is experienced by emergency nurses as a meaningful experiential learning process that supports the integration of theoretical knowledge with clinical practice. In addition to improving individual competencies, simulation contributes to professional confidence, teamwork, and the quality of emergency care. Further research across diverse healthcare settings is needed to explore its long-term impact on nursing practice and patient outcomes.
