Abstract

Fruit and vegetable waste significantly contributes to nutrient loss, food insecurity, and the transmission of waste-related diseases, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Understanding how global research has evolved on this topic is essential to guide effective interventions, enhance cross-country collaboration, and prioritize research efforts in regions facing the most severe waste-related challenges. This study aims to analyze the global development of research on fruit and vegetable waste to identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities for addressing critical challenges such as environmental degradation, inefficiencies in food systems, and public health implications. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database, focusing on English-language, open-access journal articles published between 1965 and 2024. Keyword searches were validated through manual screening to ensure relevance and duplicate or unrelated records were excluded. The final dataset consisted of 1,192 publications. VOSviewer software was employed to performed co-authorship, co-occurrence, citation, and clustering analyses. The results indicate amarked increase in research activity from 2019 to 2024, with the United States (186 articles), Spain (107 articles), and Italy (102 articles) emerging as leading contributors. The most dominant keyword was “food waste” with recent research trends focusing on sustainability, valorization, circular economy, and links to nutrition and food security. These findings offer actionable insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in developing integrated strategies that address both environmental and public health dimensions of fruit and vegetable waste.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has made mobile phones an inseparable part of everyday life, including for Generation Alpha children. Although these devices provide educational and social benefits, exposure to the electromagnetic radiation they emit has the potential to cause various health impacts. Children are more vulnerable because their bodies are still growing and developing. This study aims to examine scientific findings related to the impact of mobile phone radiation exposure on the physical and psychological health of Generation Alpha children. A narrative literature review was conducted using 12 articles from databases such as Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, MDPI, PlosONE, Google Scholar, and SINTA. The included articles were published between 2015 and 2025 and discussed the effects of electromagnetic radiation on children and adolescents. The results show that prolonged and unsupervised mobile phone use can affect visual function, sleep quality, and concentration, and may trigger digital addiction and psychological stress. Several studies also indicate possible long-term effects on the nervous system and hormonal balance. Exposure to mobile phone radiation in Generation Alpha children therefore requires serious attention, along with effective prevention and education strategies and further research to strengthen the evidence on its mechanisms and long-term impact on child development.

Abstract

The problem of organic waste accumulation in RW 011, Cipayung Village, is increasingly crucial due to the limited capacity of the landfill and the discourse of suspending waste collection. This condition risks causing environmental pollution and health problems. The CEMOT community service activity was carried out to increase public knowledge and awareness regarding waste sorting and organic waste management using Black Soldier Fly larvae (maggots) as bioconversion agents. Activities using educational-participatory design through counseling, maggot cultivation demonstrations, and mentoring were conducted. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires on 17 participants, accompanied by observations of the practical process. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (p = 0.009), with an increase in the mean score from 5.2 to 8.0, indicating an increase in participants' knowledge regarding maggot-based organic waste management. Qualitatively, participants showed enthusiasm and interest in implementing maggot cultivation at home, although there were still limitations in participation and program sustainability. CEMOT has the potential to become a model for adaptive and sustainable community-based organic waste management.
