Abstract

Readability research has largely focused on prose-based texts, leaving translated nazam materials in Arabic language pedagogy underexplored. This study investigates the readability of the Indonesian translation module of Tafsīriyah Muqaddimah Jazariyah by Abu Ezra al-Fadhli within the framework of Arabic language pedagogy. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, three discourse samples from the beginning, middle, and end sections of the module were analyzed through the Gunning Fog Index as a heuristic tool to assess linguistic load based on sentence length and lexical density. The results show an average Fog Index score of 6.08, indicating that the module is generally categorized as easy to read, although variations in readability appear across sections. The findings demonstrate that sentence structure plays a more significant role in pedagogical accessibility than lexical complexity alone. This study highlights the need to interpret readability formulas critically when applied to translated nazam texts and contributes to a genre-sensitive understanding of readability in Arabic instructional materials.

Abstract

Central Obesity, Characterized By The Accumulation Of Fat Around The Abdomen, Has Been Increasingly Recognized As A Significant Risk Factor For Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). This Systematic Review Aims To Evaluate Between Central Obesity And The Incidence Of T2DM. A Literature Search Was Conducted In July 2025 Using Databases Such As Pubmed, Google Scholar, And Ebsco. The Inclusion Criterias Are: Studies Published In The Last 10 Years, Available In Full Text, And Accessible For Free. Five Relevant Studies Were Reviewed And Synthesized. The Results Consistently Show That Indicators Of Central Obesity, Including Waist Circumference, Waist-To-Hip Ratio, Weight-Adjusted Waist Index (WWI), And Triglyceridemic Waist Phenotype, Are Strongly Associated With The Risk Of T2DM, Outperforming General Obesity Metrics Like BMI. The Visceral Fat Accumulation Plays A Critical Role In Insulin Resistance And Metabolic Dysfunction. These Results Draw Attention To The Value Of Central Obesity Measurements As Essential Components Of Early Detection And Prevention Strategies Aimed At Combating The Global Diabetes Burden.

Abstract

Gastrodiplomacy is a popular instrument in today's cultural diplomacy. This gastronomic diplomacy was first implemented by Thailand through the "Global Thai" program, which successfully introduced Thai cuisine and culture to the international community. Among ASEAN countries, the Philippines is one that currently engages in gastronomic diplomacy, led by adobo as a staple dish. This study examines the Philippines' efforts to conduct gastronomic diplomacy through the lens of gastrodiplomacy theory. This study uses a qualitative method and draws on a literature review of journal articles, books, news, and social media. In 2025, the Philippines will intensify its efforts in conducting gastronomic diplomacy, especially with countries with which it has established close relations, such as South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Australia. This gastronomic diplomacy is referred to as "Adobo Diplomacy" because adobo is the primary food promoted by the Philippine government in diplomatic contexts. The results of this study indicate that the Philippines' gastronomic diplomacy efforts align with the practical methods identified by Rockower (2020) following a literature review of previous studies.
