Abstract

Abstract

Animal husbandry in Indonesia is currently developing by utilising local genetics. Based on Government Regulation No. 68 of 2002, National Resilience is emphasised on self-reliance in food supply by utilising the potential of local resources. One of the native chickens developed is the KUB chicken. The advantages of KUB chickens are large egg production and rapid growth, low mortality rate, adaptation to a fast environment, more efficient feeding, more resistant to disease compared to other native chickens. The Industrial Work Practice activities were carried out for approximately one month from July to August 2024. The Industrial Practice activities were carried out at the Flores Bajawa College of Agriculture. The handling of KUB/ULU chicken DOC is quite different compared to the handling of native chickens, this can be seen in terms of feed, where the level of feed consumption required by KUB chickens is quite a lot besides the need for protein contained in the feed is also quite high, namely from 20-22% protein. The high need for protein aims to increase the strength of the shell and for the growth process of meat and feathers. In addition, in terms of DOC health, it is quite adequate, this is indicated by the routine administration of vaccines, medicines, vitamins and decomposers.

Abstract

Water can be polluted by various contaminants, including suspended solids, oil, heavy metals, detergents, dissolved solids, and so on. Therefore, water must go through a processing stage first before being used for certain purposes. An ecosystem is a level of organisms that is higher than a community, or is the unity of a community and its environment where interrelationships occur. In this case it does not only include a series of plant and animal species, but also all kinds of forms of matter that carry out cycles in the system as well as the energy that is the source of power. To obtain the energy and materials needed for life, all communities depend on the abiotic environment. To achieve the desired goals in accordance with the conditions and capabilities of existing resources, a water control plan requires a series of criteria and alternatives. Apart from that, cooperation from all parties in this matter (general public, industry and government) is very important. Eco-enzyme is a remediation agent that utilizes active enzymes and microorganisms produced during the fermentation process to degrade pollutants that are harmful to the environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of substituting rice bran with fermented tofu pulp in the basal diet on the performance of grower phase broiler chickens in Mengeruda Village, Soa District, Ngada Regency. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replicates, namely: P0 (100% basal diet without fermented tofu pulp), P1 (95% basal diet + 5% fermented tofu pulp), P2 (85% basal diet + 15% fermented tofu pulp), and P3 (75% basal diet + 25% fermented tofu pulp), each with three replicates. The population of chickens used in this study was 48, with each treatment consisting of 4 chickens and each treatment consisting of 3 replicates. Thus, 1 treatment required 12 broiler chickens. The research data were statistically analyzed according to RAL (Complete Randomized Design). If there were significant differences, they were followed up with a BNT test. The analysis was performed using SPSS 22.00 software. The parameters observed included feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that the substitution of fermented tofu pulp had a significant effect on broiler chicken performance. Treatment P3 yielded the best results in terms of weight gain and feed conversion efficiency. This improvement in performance was due to better nutrient availability, increased digestibility, and a reduction in anti-nutritional factors.

Abstract

Livestock extension workers play a key role in efforts to increase livestock productivity while ensuring sustainable livestock development. As catalysts for change, extension workers disseminate technological innovations, provide non-formal education, and provide technical assistance aimed at increasing the capacity of livestock farmers. The method used in this study was a literature study with qualitative descriptive analysis techniques through library research, which examined the role of livestock extension workers in increasing livestock productivity in support of sustainable livestock development. As a result of structured extension activities, extension workers help farmers implement efficient feed management, appropriate reproduction strategies, preventive animal health practices, and cultivation techniques that can improve the quality and quantity of livestock production. In addition to technical aspects, extension workers also play a role in strengthening farmer institutions, developing agribusiness partnership patterns, and improving business literacy so that farmers are able to compete in a more modern value chain. On the environmental side, extension workers encourage the implementation of environmentally friendly farming practices through waste management, resource conservation, energy efficiency, and the application of animal welfare standards that ensure the sustainability of the production ecosystem. Thus, the role of extension workers is not only focused on increasing productivity, but also on building a resilient, adaptive, and socially and ecologically responsible farming system. Overall, extension workers are the main drivers of livestock transformation towards sustainable development that can support food security, farmer welfare, and long-term sustainability of natural resources.
