Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of guided discovery learning models assisted by PhET simulations on the mastery of physics concepts and students' problem-solving abilities. This quasi-experimental study uses a nonequivalent multiple group design. This study population was all grade X students in one of the high schools in Narmada, West Lombok. Two sample classes were treated with guided discovery learning models. One class was assisted by PhET simulation media while the other class was not assisted by PhET simulation media. Concept mastery data were obtained using multiple-choice tests, while problem-solving ability data was obtained using essay tests. The results showed that the mastery of concepts and problem-solving abilities of students who learned PhET-assisted simulation were higher than other classes. The research hypothesis was tested using the MANOVA test with a significance level of 5%. It concluded that there was an influence of the guided discovery learning model assisted by PhET simulations on the mastery of physics concepts and students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Achievement motivation is part of the affective domain which also determines learning success. Motivation is an incentive for individuals to do better and tends to assess themselves to measure the progress that has been achieved. Researchers intend to conduct development research to produce appropriate achievement motivation instruments. So that it can be used as an instrument for evaluating achievement motivation in students. This research is a research and development (R&D) with 4D model namely Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. In this study, only the develop phase was carried out, namely expert validation and limited trials. The instrument developed was a questionnaire with 4 Likert scales. The sample used was Physics Education students at FKIP Mataram University. From the results of the study note that as many as 74% of students who have high motivation, and as many as 11% of students who have moderate motivation. For the results of the feasibility analysis, achievement motivation was obtained from the results of the validator assessment. Based on the validator's evaluation, the achievement motivation questionnaire has an average eligibility of all aspects of 3.37 with a very good category and a content validation value of 0.85 with a valid category. So it can be concluded if the achievement motivation evaluation instrument is appropriate to be used in the assessment of achievement motivation in students.

Abstract

The low levels of scientific literacy and science process skills among Indonesian students necessitate innovative approaches to learning. This study aimed to analyze the impact of using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) e-modules, incorporating local wisdom, on improving students' scientific literacy and science process skills. A systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was employed. Literature searches used relevant keywords in electronic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The identified articles were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and their quality was assessed. Relevant data were extracted and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The study results indicate that PBL e-modules incorporating local wisdom effectively enhance students' scientific literacy and science process skills. Improvements were observed in concept understanding, critical thinking abilities, problem-solving skills, creativity, and learning motivation. Factors influencing the effectiveness of the e-modules include the quality of their design, the role of the teacher, and the learning context. This study recommends the broader development and implementation of such e-modules, teacher training in their use, and further research on the long-term impact of these modules on students' knowledge and skill retention.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of interactive learning media based on Google Sites on students' understanding of concepts. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada with the research subject of students in class XI MIPA 5. The data collection instrument used to measure the effectiveness of learning media is a test consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions. The analysis of the effectiveness of learning media was assessed based on the increase in pre-test and post-test results. The results showed that the average pre-test and post-test of students were obtained by 39.80 and 84.71, respectively. Based on this increase, an N-Gain test score of 0.74 was obtained, so interactive learning media based on Google Sites on students' understanding of concepts is included in the criteria and is quite effective. Based on the results of the N-Gain test, it can be concluded that interactive learning media based on Google Sites is quite effective in improving students' understanding of concepts.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of a problem-based learning (PBL) model incorporating PhET Interactive Simulations on students' critical thinking skills. A quasi-experimental design, specifically an untreated control group design with pretest and posttest, was employed. The population comprised all eleventh-grade science students at SMAN 3 Mataram. Purposive sampling was used to select two classes: XI MIPA 3 as the experimental group and XI MIPA 6 as the control group. The research instrument consisted of a seven-item essay test designed to measure critical thinking skills. The instrument underwent validity, reliability, discriminating power, and difficulty level testing. Data analysis was performed using an independent samples t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results indicated a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model with PhET media effectively enhances students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the response of teacher and students to learning device based on the cognitive conflict approach in the blended learning model. This learning device was developed to improve students' mastery of concepts and critical thinking skills. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 6 Mataram. The learning tools developed are learning plans (RPP), learning materials, LKPD (students worksheets), and evaluation instruments. The subjects of this research were a physics teacher at SMA Negeri 6 Mataram and students in class XI MIA 4. The responses of teachers and students were part of a practical analysis. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire. Teachers and students were given questionnaires to respond to the learning tools developed. The teacher responds to the entire device while the students respond to the learning process, learning materials and LKPD that they study. The results of the analysis show that the learning tools are categorized as practical. This means that the learning tools developed can be used in learning. A more complete and detailed explanation of these results is presented in this article.

Abstract

The shift in science education towards a constructivist approach requires integrating learning strategies that foster deep student engagement and understanding. This research systematically investigates the integration of multimodal approaches into Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) models in science education, and evaluates their effectiveness on student learning outcomes. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol, this study covers peer-reviewed sources from various international databases over the last 15 years. Findings consistently indicate that multimodal integration through simulations, virtual laboratories, multiple representations, videos, and other digital tools significantly improves conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, creativity, and positive motivation and attitudes towards science. While each model offers specific advantages (PBL excels in problem analysis, PjBL in artifact creation, and IBL in scientific exploration), successful implementation depends heavily on the teacher's role, student readiness, and contextual support. This review recommends well-planned multimodal learning designs that align with learning objectives and the specific model's characteristics.
