Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menyelidiki dan menganalisis jenis strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk mengajar siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus, (2) menemukan alasan mengapa guru menggunakan jenis strategi komunikasi, dan (3) mendeskripsikan tanggapan siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus terhadap strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar dan proses belajar. Subyek penelitian ini adalah guru yang mengajar siswa berkebutuhan khusus di kelas 3, 4, dan 5 di SLB C Singaraja. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan beberapa perangkat seperti: lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan perekam audio video. Data tentang jenis strategi komunikasi dikumpulkan dengan mengamati dan merekam guru melalui proses belajar mengajar, sementara pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk menemukan alasan guru dalam menggunakan jenis strategi komunikasi. Kemudian, data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan beberapa langkah, yaitu coding, pengurangan, kategorisasi, analisis data, dan menampilkan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 14 jenis strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk mengajar siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus melalui proses belajar mengajar. Guru paling sering menggunakan pengulangan. Ini terjadi selama 46 kali melalui proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Selain itu, alasan para guru dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi adalah untuk membantu siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus untuk memahami materi dan instruksi dengan mudah. Para siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus juga yang paling sering menunjukkan respon positif terhadap strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam proses belajar mengajar. The subjects of this study were teachers who teach the students with special needs in grade 3, 4, and 5 in SLB C Singaraja. The data in this study were collected by using some devices such as: observation sheet, interview guide, and audio video recorder. The data about the types of communication strategies were collected by observing and recording the teachers through teaching and learning process, while interview guide was used to find the reasons of teachers in using the types of communication strategies. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively by using some steps, namely coding, reduction, categorizing, data analysis, and data display. The results of this study showed that there were 14 types of communication strategies applied by the teachers to teach students with special needs through teaching and learning process. Teachers most frequently used repetition. It occurred for 46 times through teaching and learning process in the classroom. Furthermore, the reason of the teachers in using communication strategies was to help the students with special needs to understand the materials and instructions easier. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian in adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tentang jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru- guru Taman Kanak- kanak Aura Sukma Insani dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa kedua. Penelitian ini melingkupi jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru-guru dalam mengajar, alasan guru-guru dalam menggunakan jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi dalam mengajar, dan pedapat siswa mengenai jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar. Dalam penelitian ini, data dikumpulkan oleh peneliti sebagai instrumen utama, dan dibantu oleh beberapa alat, seperti perekam video, lembar observasi, dan pedoman wawancara. Data mengenai jenis dari strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru-guru dikumpulkan memalui proses merekam dan mengamati proses belajar mengajar, sedangkan pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi tentang alasan guru-guru dalam menggunakan tipe-tipe strategi komunikasi dalam mengajar, dan pendapat siswa mengenai strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 15 jenis dari strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru. Strategi perubahan kode adalah yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru. Alasan dari guru menggunakan strategi tersebut adalah untuk membantu guru-guru dalam menjelaskan materi kepada siswa, mempermudah siswa dalam memahami materi, dan mencegah terjadinya kesalahpahaman antara siswa dan guru saat berkomunikasi. Data juga menunjukkan bahwa guru mendapatkan persepsi yang positif dari siswanya dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi selama proses belajar mengajar. Kata Kunci : Strategi Komunikasi, guru bahasa Inggris, dan proses belajar mengajar. The purpose of this study was to describe the communication strategies used by kindergarten teachers of Aura Sukma Insani in teaching English as a second language. It includes the types of communication strategies used by the teachers in teaching, the reasons of the teachers in using such types of communication strategies and the students’ perception toward communication strategies used by the teachers. The subjects of this study were kindergarten teachers of Aura Sukma Insani Kindergarten. The data were collected by using the researcher as the main instrument helped by some devices, namely audio-video recorder, observation sheets, and the interview guides.The types of communication strategies were gathered by observing and recording the teacher during teaching and learning process, while the interview guides were used to gather the data about the teacher’s reason in using such types of communication strategies and the students’ perception toward the communication strategies used by the teachers. The results of this study showed that there were 15 types of communication strategies used by the teachers. Code switching strategy was the most frequently used by the teachers. The reasons of the teachers used those strategies were to help the teachers in delivering the material to the students, made the students easier to understand the material, and avoid the communication breakdown among teachers and the students. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan prefiks dan sufiks inflektif dan prefiks dan sufiks derivasi dari Cempaga Dialek di desa Cempaga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Dua sampel informan dari Cempaga Dialek dipilih berdasarkan seperangkat kriteria. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan dua teknik, yaitu: elisity dan teknik snowball. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis prefiks derivasional di Cempaga Dialek: awalan {mə-}, {m -}, kɅ-, dan pɅn-,. Ada lima jenis prefiks inflektif di Cempaga Dialek: awalan {n}, {N-}, {N-}, {m-} dan Λ-. Ada wes salah satu jenis akhiran derivatif di Cempaga Dialek: akhiran {-n}. Ada wes salah satu jenis akhiran infleksi: akhiran -ə. Prefiks dan sufiks di Cempaga Dialek yang milik derivasi adalah: prefix {mə-}, {m-}, {kɅ-} dan pɅn- dan akhiran {-n}. Prefiks dan sufiks di Cempaga Dialek yang milik belok adalah: prefix {n}, {N-}, {N-}, m-, dan Λ- dan akhiran -ə.Kata Kunci : Derivasi Awalan dan Akhiran, infleksi Awalan dan Akhiran, Cempaga Dialek This study aimed at describing inflectional prefixes and suffixes and derivational prefixes and suffixes of Cempaga Dialect in Cempaga village. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan jenis-jenis strategi kesantunan yang digunakan siswa perempuan dan laki-laki di kelas XI IIS SMA Bhaktiyasa Singaraja untuk berbicara dengan para guru mereka saat di dalam kelas dan diluar kelas dan alasan mereka menggunakan strategi kesantunan tersebut. Subjek penelitian ini ialah para siswa di kelas XI IIS SMA Bhaktiyasa Singaraja yang berbicara dengan guru-guru mereka. Peneliti merupakan instrument utama pada penelitian ini yang mengumpulkan data dengan merekam suara percakapan siswa dengan guru, mencatat fenomena yang terjadi, dan mewawancarai subjek penelitian. Strategi kesantunan yang digunakan oleh siswa dianalisis berdasarkan teori kesantunan Brown & Levinson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang digunakan ialah bald on record politeness positive politeness, dan off record. Bald on record impolite language merupakan strategi yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa baik di dalam kelas maupun diluar kelas. Sebagian besar, siswa mengunakan bahasa tidak santun yang dapat disebut sebagai kesalahan pragmatik karena siswa memiliki motif untuk menadi lebih dekat dengan guru-guru mereka. Hal ini berbeda dengan penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya yang menunjukkan bahwa positive politeness strategy yang banyak dipilih saat berbicara dalam situasi formal. Penelitian ini menunjukkan siswa menggunakan impolite language bahkan pada saat mereka berbicara dengan guru di dalam kelas. Hasil tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa siswa jarang menggunakan strategi kesantunan dalam berbicara dengan guru, bahkan dalam situasi formal. Alasan para siswa menggunakan bahasa tidak santun karena mereka merasa mereka dekat dengan para guru. Kata Kunci : Kesalahan Pragmatik, Strategi Kesantunan, Strategi Komunikasi This study aimed to explain the types of politeness strategies used by female and male students of XI IIS of SMA Bhaktiyasa Singaraja to talk to their teachers inside and outside the classroom and the reason of using those strategies. The researcher was the key instrument in this study that collected the data by audio-recording the conversation between students and teachers, taking note of the phenomena and interviewing the subject of the study. The subjects of the study were the students in XI IIS of SMA Bhaktiyasa Singaraja who talked to their teachers. The politeness strategies used by students were analyzed based on Brown & Levinson’s theory of politeness. The result of this study showed that the strategies used by female and male students were bald on record politeness, positive politeness, and off record. Mostly, the students used impolite language which can be stated as pragmatic errors because the students’ motive was to get closer to the teachers so they used impolite language. It was different from the previous studies that indicated positive politeness strategy most used by speaker in formal situation. The result of this study indicated that the students used politeness strategies rarely even when they talked to their teachers in the classroom activities. The students’ reasons of using the impolite language most frequently than politeness strategies because they felt they were close with the teachers so that they used impolite language to show their friendliness.keyword : Communication Strategies, Politeness Strategies, Pragmatic Error

Prefik dan sufiks ini akan digolongkan lebih lanjut kedalam derivasi dan infleksi prefik dan sufik. Prefik derivasi adalah {ma-}, {N-}, {ka-}, dan {pa-}. Sedangkan sufik derivasi adalah {-an} dan {ang}. Prefik infleksi adalah {ma-}, {N-}, dan {ka-}. Sedangkan sufik infleksi adalah {-in}, {-ne}, {-an}, {-ang}, dan {-e}. Terlebihnya, masing-masing prefik dan sufik memiliki fungsi yang berbeda seperti pembuat kata kerja (kalimat suruh), pembuat kata benda (definite article), pembuat kata sifat (perbandingan), pembuat kata pasif, dan pembuat kata aktif.Kata Kunci : derivasi prefik dan sufik, infleksi prefik dan sufik, dan dialek Bali Lemukih This study aimed at describing the kinds of prefixes and suffixes in Lemukih dialect of Balinese and the types of inflectional and derivational processes in which they are involved. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tipe strategi komunikasi yang digunakan guru sebagai teknik mengajar untuk membantu siswa belajar berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa inggris, alasan guru dalam menggunakan tipe strategi komunikasi tersebut dan pendapat siswa terhadap strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dan angket. Selain perekam, lembaran, pedoman wawancara juga digunakan untuk memperoleh data. penelitian ini adalah qualitative research, tipe ini adalah deskriptif yang mana data diambil dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: ada delapan strategi komunikasi yang di aplikasikan oleh guru dalam membantu siswa belajar berkomunikasi mengunakan bahasa inggris,strategi tersebut adalah literal translation, repetition, language switching, appeal for assistance, topic avoidance, paralanguage, comprehension check dan clarification request.(2) ada lima alasan utama yang menyebabkan guru mengaplikasikan strategi komunikasi tersebut seperti membantu siswa untuk memahami arti dari pengucapan bahasa inggris, untuk membantu siswa mengingat kata dalam bahasa inggris, untuk menghindari sebuah kesalahan, dan untuk membantu siswa memahami pelajaran. (3) dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi komunikasi yang terapkan guru di dalam proses belajar mengajar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. karena guru menggunakan strategi komunikasi yang tepat dalam membantu siswa belajar menggunakan bahasa inggris. Kata Kunci : strategi komunikasi, teknik mengajar, kemampuan berbicara The purposes of this study were to investigate the types of communication strategies used by the teacher as a technique of teaching to help the students learn to communicate in English, the teacher’s reasons in applying certain types of communication strategies and the students’ perception toward communication strategies used by the teacher. The data was collected through direct observation, interview, and questionnaire. Besides, mobile recorder, observation sheet and interview guide also used in gaining the data. This study was qualitative research, this type of research was descriptive in which the data taken were automatically analyze descriptively. The result of this study were: there were eigh types of communication strategies applied by the teacher to help students learn to communicate in English, namely : literal translation, repetition, language switching, appeal for assistance, topic avoidance, para language, comprehension check and clarification request. (2) There were five main reasons that caused the teacher applied those communication strategies such as to help students to understand the meaning of English utterances, to help students memorized the word in English, to help the students in mastering a topic, to improve students’ motivation in speaking and to help students comprehend the lesson. (3) It can be concluded that communication strategies applied by the teacher in the teaching and learning process can increase the students’ ability in speaking, because the teacher used appropriate communication strategies to help students in learning English. keyword : communication strategies, technique of teaching, speaking ability

Abstract

This study aimed at (1) investigating and analyzing the types of communication strategies used by the people involved in Ngidih wedding ceremonny and (2) knowing the motives of the use communication strategies in Ngidih wedding process. The subjects of this study were two kelian adat, two kelian dinas, pangeter, groom’s and bride parents in Padangbulia village. The data were collected by using the researcher as the main instrument helped by some devices, namely non-participant observation, audio-video recorder, interview and field note. The types of communication strategies were gathered by observing and recording the people involved during Ngidih wedding process, while the interview guides were used to gather the data about the motives in using the types of communication strategies used by the respondents. The results of this study showed that there were 9 types of communication strategies used by prajuru (manggala desa), groom’s and bride’s family. Mime strategy was the most frequently used by prajuru (manggala desa), groom’s and bride’s family. The motives of using those strategies among the respondents were intented to make everthing clear and acceptable. They also said that it was usually shown naturally by them in order to emphasize the aims, and they used gesture or facial expression to express their feeling in their speech. The used of gesture was believed to be able to make the interaction much calmer and more relax in using communication strategies during Ngidih wedding process.keyword : communication strategies, ngidih wedding ceremony, balinese hinduism marriage

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis alih kode yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris sebagai strategi untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk bahasa asing siswa kelas VIII di SMP N 3 Mendoyo tahun akademik 2015/2016. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris yang mengajar siswa kelas delapan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sebagai instrument utama, dan panduan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga jenis alih kode yang digunakan oleh guru yaitu,alih kode Inter-personal (35,1%) alih kode inter-sentential (33,8%) dan, alih kode intra-sentential (31,2%). Ada lima fungsi alih kode yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris yaitu, fungsi emphasis ( 36,4%), fungsi clarification (24,4%), fungsi instruction (16,2%), fungsi sosiolinguistics play (13,0%), dan fungsi attention (10,1%). Alasan untuk menggunakan alih kode adalah membantu siswa untuk memahami pelajaran dengan mudah, strategi komunikasi dan pemahaman, membantu guru untuk menarik perhatian siswa, membantu guru untuk memberikan instruksi yang jelas, dan membantu guru untuk membuat sebuah lelucon.Kata Kunci : alih kode, strategi pengajaran, bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing This descriptive qualitative study aimed at analyzing code switching used by the English teachers as a strategy for teaching English for foreign language at eighth grade students at SMP N 3 Mendoyo in the academic year 2015/2016. The subjects of this study were English teachers who taught eighth grade students. This study was descriptive qualitative research. The instruments used in this study were the researcher as main instrument and an interview guide. The result of this study showed that there were three types of code switching used by the teachers. They were inter-personal code switching (35.1%) inter-sentential code switching (33.8%) and, intra-sentential code switching (31.2%,. There were five functions of code switching used by the English teachers. They were emphasis function (36.4%), clarification function (24.4%), instruction function (16.2%),sociolinguistics play function (13.0%), and attention function (10.1%). The reasons for using code switching were helping the students to understand the lesson easily, communication strategy, helping the teacher to attract the students’ attention, helping the teacher to give clear instruction, and helping the teacher to make a joke.keyword : code switching, teaching strategy, English as foreign language

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan bentuk linguistik, arti dan fungsi jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis pada front office di Asa Bali Luxury Villa and Spa Seminyak. Jargon dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori dari Allan & Buridge (2006), dan di dukung oleh teori Yule 2006, Chaer & Agustina 2010. Penelitian ini di desain menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Jargon yang di identify kasi adalah jargon yang digunakan dalam bentuk lisan dan tertulis. Tehknik - tehknik yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, dokumentasi dan interview. Dalam hasil penelitian, ditemukan 120 jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis di front office Asa Bali Villa and Spa. Dalam bentuk linguistik, jargon – jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis terdiri dari noun phrases (46 atau 38%), abbreviation (29 atau 24%), noun (21 atau 18%), clipping (5 atau 4.1%), affixation (4 atau 3.2%), borrowing (4 atau 3.2%), acronym (3 atau 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 atau 2.4%), verb (2 atau 1.6%), adjective (2 atau 1.6%), coinage (1 atau 0.5%). Arti dari 120 jargon didefinisikan berdasaran interview pada staff villa, dokumen resepsionis, kamus, dan konteks penggunaan jargon. Data analisis menunjukan terdapat dua fungsi jargon, (1) sebanyak 37 data (30%) menyajikan bahasa yang khusus untuk mengefisienkan komunikasi dan (2) 83 data (70%) meningkatkan solidaritas dalam kelompok. Jargon merupakan sebuah variasi bahasa untuk berkomunikasi di dalKata Kunci : jargon, front office department, Asa Bali Luxury Villas and Spa ABSTRACT This study aimed at identifying and describing the linguistic forms, the meanings and the functions of jargon used by receptionists of the front office department at Asa Bali Luxury Villas and Spa Seminyak. This study found that 120 types of jargon were used by receptionists in front office department. It was found that the jargon was in the form of noun phrases (46 or 38%), abbreviation (29 or 24%), noun (21 or 18%), clipping (5 or 4.1%), affixation (4 or 3.2%), borrowing (4 or 3.2%), acronym (3 or 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 or 2.4%), verb (2 or 1.6%), adjective (2 or 1.6%), and coinage (1 or 0.5%). The meanings of 123 jargon was identified by investigating technical meaning. Besides, this study found that there were two functions of the jargon, (1) providing a technical or specialist language to make communication more efficient and (2) encouraging group solidarity.
