Abstract

Problem solving skills are important to have in the 21st century. In the online learning period, students are required to be able to learn independently from home. However, in fact the motivation of students' learning has decreased. To facilitate students' self-learning during online learning, improving learning motivation and problem solving skills, teachers need to provide interesting learning materials. Therefore, this research aims to develop self-learning materials in the form of problem based learning e-module flipbooks on Environmentally Friendly Technology materials. This research is research and development with Lee Owens development model namely analysis, design, development and evaluation. The data collected in the form of qualitative data in the form of comments and suggestions validators and quantitative data in the form of validation scores of material experts, media and readability. The data collection instruments used are material expert validation test sheets, media experts, teachers and readability tests. Data analysis techniques are descriptive analysis. The results showed that the e-module flipbook developed has a succession of feasibility percentages from the validation tests of material experts, media experts and teachers, namely 84.03, 84.62 and 95.00%. Meanwhile, the percentage of readability tests to students was 87.81%. Teachers and students showed a response that the developed flipbook was interesting and suitable for self-learning during the pandemic. It can be concluded that, the e-module flipbook developed falls into the category of very valid (worth using) and excellent. It is expected to test the effectiveness of flipbooks to learning and develop flipbooks for other materials

Abstract

Insects are a group of living things that have the highest number of species. This study examines the diversity of insect species that aims to determine the diversity of insect species found in Singha Merjosari Park, Malang City. This research was conducted on Monday, November 7, 2022. This research used the observation method to collect data by direct observation. This method is used as an observation of the object of research, especially on the focus of the problem under study. The data obtained consisted of the number of species and body morphological characteristics of the insect species. The results of the study found six species of insects with different body morphologies. The special feature of insects is their body is divided into three main parts, namely the head (Caput), chest (Thorax) and stomach (Abdomen). Insects have a function to help pollinate or fertilize flowers, as decomposers or decomposers, as environmental bioindicators, as producers of materials that have high economic value such as producing honey, medicinal ingredients, as cleaners and soil conditioners so that they can be found in their distribution in the area around Singha Merjosari Park, Malang City.

Abstract

Online learning that has been carried out more or less in the past year has caused student studying saturation. The provision of material through Youtube videos, articles or handouts in pdf form is generally done by teachers. In fact, technology has provided many alternatives that can be used as more interesting learning media, for example Powtoon. Therefore, this study aims to provide training to teachers in developing materials in the form of Powtoon in order to increase students' learning motivation, especially during online learning. This research includes community service research. The steps taken are; 1) Pre-implementation, in the form of needs analysis, 2) Implementation, in the form of training with Powtoon development materials as learning media, filling out questionnaires, independent work, discussions and 3) Post-implementation, in the form of evaluation of activities. The implementation of the training showed the enthusiasm of the participants as seen from the life of the discussion session. Based on the questionnaire filled out by the participants, the implementation of the training has been well implemented with suggestions for adding other innovative media materials, and improving teacher competence in other matters. In addition, the results of the development and use of Powtoon media carried out by participants showed that students were enthusiastic and motivated in learning

Abstract

Bryophyta, juga dikenal sebagai lumut yang merupakan tumbuhan tingkat rendah yang tidak memiliki jaringan pembuluh, akar, batang, dan daun sejati seperti tumbuhan tingkat tinggi. Meskipun demikian, lumut memiliki adaptasi yang memungkinkannya tumbuh dan bertahan hidup di berbagai habitat, termasuk di lingkungan yang ekstrim seperti hutan lebat, pegunungan, atau batu-batuan. Terdapat 18.000 jenis bryophyta yang tersebar di seluruh dunia, dan di Indonesia ditemukan sekitar 1500 jenis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keragaman dan kelimpahan pertumbuhan lumut terhadap jarak sumber air terjun Coban Putri. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kawasan air terjun Coban Putri, Kota Batu, Jawa Timur. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah dengan membagi 3 plot, masing-masing luas lokasi sebesar 32 m x 12 m. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada 3 plot di kawasan air terjun Coban Putri, diperoleh 6 jenis tumbuhan lumut yang tumbuh di lokasi tersebut dan kelimpahan pertumbuhan lumut lokasi yang dekat dengan air terjun tumbuh dengan baik dan karenanya melimpah.

Abstract

Tumbuhan paku dapat hidup di berbagai lingkungan. Selain dapat menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem, tumbuhan paku dapat menghentikan erosi tanah, menghasilkan oksigen, dan menyerap air hujan. Tumbuhan paku dapat tumbuh sebagai epifit, yaitu menempel pada tumbuhan lain. Coban Putri merupakan salah satu tempat wisata air terjun yang berada di Kota Batu, Jawa Timur. Berbagai jenis tumbuhan dapat dijumpai di Coban Putri termasuk tumbuhan paku. Tumbuhan paku memiliki banyak manfaat dan keanekaragaman jenis yang luar biasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data dan informasi mengenai keanekaragaman jenis paku di Coban Putri Kota Batu beserta kebermanfaatannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dan studi literatur. Data yang diperoleh tumbuhan paku tersebut teridentifikasi seluruhnya terdiri dari 6 spesies terestrial yaitu Diplazium esculentum (Retz.) Sw., Microlepia speluncae (L.) T. Moore, Dryopteris filix-mas (L.) Schott, Adiantum concinnum Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd., Pteris biaurita L, Dryopteris filix-mas (L.) Schott, dan Dryopteris oreades Fomin. Tumbuhan paku-pakuan tersebut memiliki manfaat yang beragam antara lain dikonsumsi sebagai sayuran, sebagai tanaman hias, mengobati infeksi bakteri dan jamur pada kulit dan saluran pernapasan, mengobati penyakit (seperti cacingan, radang usus, gangguan pencernaan, luka, bisul, radang kulit, batuk, asma, bronkitis, demam, sakit kepala, dan nyeri sendi) dan juga sebagai tanaman hiperakumulator terhadap logam berat merkuri.

Abstract

This research focuses on developing handout teaching materials based on critical thinking skills to enhance students' scientific literacy. The study employed the RD development method, along with the ADDIE model. The research subjects included material and media validators, science teachers, and eighth-grade of Junior high school students. The research utilized validation forms, questionnaire responses, pretest, and posttest as instruments. Data analysis techniques involved percentage equation, independent sample t-test, N-gain test, and effect size test. The results indicated that the handouts' quality, as assessed by material validators, was 92.31%, while media validators reported a score of 90.89%, placing both categories in the very decent range. There was a significant difference in average learning outcomes between students who utilize handouts and those who did not. The increase in scientific literacy ability was 0.7, indicating a high category, and the effect size of using handouts is 2.8, denoting a large category. Consequently, handout teaching materials based on critical thinking skills are deemed suitable for improving students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

The environmental crisis, which is a global problem, can be overcome by increasing sustainability awareness. The education for sustainable development (ESD) based global warming module can increase understanding and sustainability awareness. The goal of this research was to create a module based on ESD that deserves to be tested for its effectiveness in raising junior high school student’s understanding and sustainability awareness of global warming. The development procedure is based on the ADDIE model (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate) data collection techniques using interviews, questionnaires, and pretest-posttest questions. The data analysis techniques used are the descriptive qualitative technique, percentage analysis, readability test, validity and reliability test, normality and homogeneity test, independent sample t-test, N-gain test, and effect size test. The results of media and material validation tests show very valid criteria. The results of the N-gain test in the post-test control class showed low criteria, while those in the experimental class showed medium bars. The outcomes of the effect size test in the post-test control and practical classes show high criteria. This research indicates that the modules developed are valid and effective for increasing students' understanding and sustainability awareness

Abstract

Background: Asteraceae grows a lot in the tourist area of Lake Ranu Gumbolo Tulungagung and is not given much attention because it is only considered a wild plant. Hence, the utilization and management of these plants could be more optimal. This research aimed to identify the species diversity of the Asteraceae tribe on the shores of Lake Ranu Gumbolo, Tulungagung. Methods: The method used was to explore every corner of the observation location and calculate its diversity index. Results:  A total of 8 species of the Asteraceae tribe have been identified on Lake Ranu Gumbolo, including Blumea balsamifera, Sphagneticola trilobata, Grangea maderaspatana, Ageratina Riparia, Ageratum conyzoides, Emilia sonchifolia, Tridax procumbens, and Eupatorium odoratum. The calculation of the diversity index showed that the species of the Asteraceae tribe at the observation site had a high diversity of 1.9. Conclusions: The results of this study can provide new knowledge about the plant diversity of the Asteraceae tribe, which readers or researchers can use as a source or reference. The results of this observation can be a different added value for Lake Ranu Gumbolo Tulungagung tourism and become an attraction for tourists.

Abstract

This research aims to reduce students' misconceptions about the Earth and Solar System subject by implementing the RADEC model using a flipped classroom strategy assisted by the Wordwall application. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that adopts the Kemmis and McTaggart design. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four components: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study was conducted in Class VII-A of UPT SMPN 14 Gresik, which consisted of 30 students. Data was collected through classroom observations, student reflections, and a four-tier diagnostic test. Data analysis was performed using qualitative descriptive analysis to describe changes in student misconceptions. The results of the first cycle showed that students' conceptions of the Earth and the Solar System were as follows: 60.33% had scientific conceptions, 16.33% lacked knowledge, and 23.33% had misconceptions. The results of the second cycle showed an improvement in students' scientific conceptions and a decrease in the lack of knowledge and misconceptions: 86.67% had scientific conceptions, 4.33% lacked knowledge, and 9.00% had misconceptions. It can be concluded that implementing the RADEC model with a flipped classroom strategy assisted by the Wordwall application can be an alternative solution to reduce students' misconceptions in science learning, especially Earth and the Solar System.

Abstract

Learning objectives can be achieved if students are diligent in learning activities. Student activeness can be assessed through their involvement in study groups, responsibility, and how they express their opinions. Therefore, problem-based learning materials are necessary to train students' thinking skills and to ensure they are active in learning activities. The aim of this research is to develop a student worksheet product based on problem-based learning on the human circulatory system material, to test the product's validity, and to assess the product's practicality. The mechanism used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). Data collection involved respondents from 8th-grade students (n = 130) and science subject teachers (n = 6) for practitioner validation and readability tests. The scope of this research is limited to the feasibility assessment of the Problem-Based Learning student worksheet by material experts, media experts, practitioners, and student readability tests. The teaching materials developed by the researchers include factual problems in daily activities, making them easy for students to understand and supported by videos and articles to comprehend the material. Data analysis shows that (1) the assessment criteria by material experts indicate a valid category with an average of 80.83%; (2) it is considered very valid as evidenced by an average of 90% for media expert assessments; (3) student responses to the worksheet are very good with an average of 95.37%; (4) based on practitioner expert tests, it is stated to be very valid with an average of 94.7%.
