Abstract

Kata kunci: Dukungan dana, Peternak asli Papua, Dukungan pelatihan   Abstract  The management system is an important factor for improving native chicken productivity.  The study aimed to observe the management system of native chickens applied by Indigenous Papuan (IP) and Non-Indigenous Papuan (NIP) farmers in the North Manokwari District, West Papua, Indonesia.  Twenty farmers either the IP or NIP were chosen purposively as respondents.  The analysis method used was a descriptive method.  The primary data were collected by interview and direct field observation. The interview was done by using an open and closed questionnaire.  Data collected were then tabulated, analyzed, and then narrated to draw a conclusion.  The results showed that the management systems of native chickens carried out by the IP and the NIP farmers were similar and almost all parameters were still in the normal standard.  However, some production and reproduction data were not able to get due to no data recording.  In conclusion, the management system of native chickens carried out by Papuans and Non-Papuans farmers in the North Manokwari District still requires guidance, especially in recording production and reproduction data.  Government support in the form of training through agricultural extension agents is needed in order to improve farmers knowledge of native chickens management systems.  In addition, motivational support from the government is needed to develop native chicken farms to support the farmers’ economy, especially in the North Manokwari District.  Keywords: Financial assistance; Indigenous Papuan farmers; Training support

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Fisheries activities in Aipiri Village are traditional activities. Using rowboats, the fishing grounds for fishermen are around the beach in front of the village. Some fishermen use motorboats with a wider range of fish catches. Repairing motorboat damage is usually done by calling a trained repairman because fishermen do not yet have adequate equipment to repair them. Community service activities aim to carry out counseling and provide workshop equipment and coolboxes to groups of fishermen in Aipiri village. The activity began with the Unipa Postgraduate team receiving workshop equipment from the Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan of West Papua Province which was symbolically handed over to the Postgraduate Director. Furthermore, the team distributed to groups of fishermen in Aipiri village and conducted counseling for 5 groups of fishermen. Cooperation with partners has succeeded in distributing assistance in the form of workshop tools and coolboxes. It is hoped that the workshop equipment can improve the economy of the fishing community in Aipiri village.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the genotype of the gene Pituitary-specific transcription factor 1 (Pit-1) in Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus). A total of 20 cows Bali (13 males and 7 females) were used in this study. DNA samples isolated from blood samples using phenol-chloroform extraction method (Sambrook et al., 1989). This study using PCR-RFLP method. Amplification of specific DNA fragments (size 451 bp, intron regions stretching from 4 to exon 6) of the Pit-1 gene Bali cattle samples was performed using a pair of specific primers (forward: 5'-AAA-CCA-TCA-TCT-CCC-TTC-TT -3 ', and reverse: 5'-AAT-GTA-CAA-TGT-GCC-TTC-TGA-G-3'). Based on the results of RFLP analysis/HinfI was found that all of Bali cattle research resulted banding pattern uniform (monomorphic), the band size 244 bp and 207 bp, and the band patterns thus identified as genotype BB, so it is known that the frequency of A and B alleles at 0 and 1. The frequency of A allele was not found in Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus) showed a significant difference with other cattle breeds (Bos taurus and Bos indicus).

Abstract

ABSTRACT : With the limited location and space available for livestock land and to prevent social conflicts that arise in society, due to the impact of environmental pollution from livestock activities, methods or methods are needed to reduce the impact of environmental pollution due to livestock activities, one of which is by modifying feed rations by fermentation method as carried out by the Manokwari Integrated Flamboyan Group. Based on this, it is necessary to measure the level of environmental pollution from pig farms that use fermented feed and to determine the levels of ammonia and methane produced. Measurement of public perception was carried out using a Likert scale and measurement of estimates of ammonia gas and methane produced using estimates based on the production of livestock manure produced. The overall perception of respondents for pig breeders who use fermented feed, all respondents stated that they were not very disturbed, while pig breeders who did not use fermented feed stated that they were quite disturbed. The results of statistical tests show that there is no difference in the estimates of ammonia and methane gas produced by pig breeders who use fermented feed and pig breeders who do not use fermented feed. This shows that the public's perception of pig farmers who do not use fermented feed is quite disturbed due to rations given.

Abstract

The present study aims to assess the impact of the green campus score indicator on the development of sports infrastructure at Universitas Papua, Manokwari. The assessment method for implementing a green campus using UI GreenMetric as the criteria met the specified score standard. The analysis findings indicated that the implementation is adequate, following the green campus indicator analysis on the UNIPA Campus's sports center infrastructure. There are only a few indicators that need to be improved in constructing a sports center, such as managing and monitoring development implementation, the use of environmentally friendly tools, managing and monitoring the impacts caused by development activities, and the campus providing regular budgets. In addition, other indicators are thought to have been well field implemented. Based on these findings, a strategy for environmental structuring and green campus infrastructure is required for the UNIPA campus sports center infrastructure. The strategy emphasizes the importance of paying attention to potential threats that may arise as a result of construction, such as environmental damage, the emergence of new residential clusters that do not follow the UNIPA campus, and the emergence of new residential clusters that do not follow the UNIPA campus.
