Abstract

This study aims to produce valid Student Activity Sheets (LAS) in mathematics based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) for prisms and pyramids. The research adopts a Research and Development approach consisting of three stages: defining (define), designing (design), and developing (develop). The instrument used in this study is a validation questionnaire. Through validity testing conducted with two validators and several revisions and improvements, the average score of the LAS validation results was 3.64, categorized as highly valid. Thus, the LAS developed with the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in this study has a very good level of validity. This research contributes significantly to developing and improving mathematics learning in the classroom. CTL-based SAS for prisms and pyramids is expected to enhance students' interest and understanding of mathematical concepts contextually, enabling them to relate their learning to everyday life situations. Moreover, the LAS development method used in this study can also be adapted to produce CTL-based student worksheets for other mathematical topics.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Validated Guided Inquiry-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) in Mathematics, focusing on systems of linear equations with two variables. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D), consisting of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate, although in this study, it only reached the development stage. The subjects of this research were eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Rambah Hilir during the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The validation instrument used in this study was a validation questionnaire. The result of this research is a Guided Inquiry-based LKPD. Based on the validity test conducted by three validators with several revisions and improvements, the average validation score for the Guided Inquiry-based LKPD is 3.55, categorized as "very valid." Therefore, the Guided Inquiry-based LKPD is highly valid.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the Brain Based Learning model on the mathematical critical thinking abilities of 10th-grade students at SMAS Salafiyah Babussalam. The type of research conducted here is a pre-experiment with an Intact-Group Comparison research design, where one class is divided into two groups. The sampling process employed random sampling techniques for selecting participants. Data on mathematical critical thinking abilities were collected through a test. Data analysis was carried out to test the hypotheses. Before hypothesis testing, a prerequisite test for normality was conducted. The results of the normality test indicated that the data did not follow a normal distribution. Therefore, hypothesis testing was conducted using the Mann Whitney test. The calculation results showed that the calculated z-score zscore > critical ztable, with a value of zscore = 4.39 > ztable = 1.96, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0). This means that there is a significant influence of the Brain Based Learning model on the mathematical critical thinking abilities of 10th-grade students at SMAS Salafiyah Babussalam. This research contributes significantly to the development of effective learning methods aimed at improving students' mathematical critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the numeracy ability of students at the cognitive level of reasoning grade VIII State Junior High School 5 Rambah Hilir in solving algebraic domain numeracy problems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The subjects in this study are students in grades VIII-3 of State Junior High School 5 Rambah Hilir which totals 23 students. Then 6 students with qualifications 2 students with high numeracy skills, 2 students with moderate numeracy skills and 2 students with low numeracy skills were selected as interview subjects. The technique of checking the validity of the data uses triangulation techniques. The results of the study showed that the numeracy ability of students at the cognitive level of reasoning at State Junior High School 5 Rambah Hilir, namely students with a high level of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of reasoning, were able to meet the three indicators of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of reasoning, namely namely analyzing data and information, evaluating, and inferring. Students with a level of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of moderate reasoning are only able to meet two indicators of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of reasoning, namely analyzing data and information, and evaluating. Students with a low level of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of reasoning are only able to meet one indicator of numeracy ability at the cognitive level of reasoning, namely analyzing data and information.

Abstract

Minimum competency assessment is a basic competency that all students need to be able to develop their own abilities and play an active role in society in positive activities. Minimum competency assessment aims to measure students' cognitive learning outcomes which include reading literacy and numeracy competencies. This study aims to determine the types of errors made by students in solving algebraic domain numeracy problems based on the kastolan theory, namely: (1) conceptual errors, (2) procedural errors, (3) technical errors. The research that has been conducted is a qualitative descriptive study with a research instrument of three AKM type algebra essay questions on 26 class VIII 3 students at SMP N 1 Tambusai. The results obtained based on the results of student answer sheets include: (1) conceptual errors of 30.76%, procedural errors of 38.46%, and technical errors of 32.05%. It can be concluded that the mistakes that students often make are procedural errors. The results of this study provide an overview of the various errors made by students in solving algebraic domain AKM problems, so that they can determine follow-up actions so that students' numeracy skills become better.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the critical thinking skills of grade VIII students in solving numeracy-based problems at SMP Negeri 2 Kunto Darussalam. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The subjects in this study were class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Kunto Darussalam, comprising 25 students. Then, six students, consisting of two students with high scores, two students with medium scores, and two students with low scores, were selected as interview subjects. Data validity was measured using triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Hubberman (1984) model, which consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that the critical thinking ability of grade VIII students in solving numeracy-based problems at SMP Negeri 2 Kunto Darussalam was moderate, with an average score of 57.8. When viewed from the FRISCO stages, focus was classified as a high category with a value of 2.76, reason was classified as a high category with a value of 2.72, inference was classified as a medium category with a value of 1.2, situation was classified as a medium category with a value of 1.16, clarity was classified as a medium category with a value of 1.52, and overview was classified as a medium category with a value of 1.6.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the higher education system. Initially, the learning process was conducted offline, where students engaged in face-to-face interaction. However, due to the pandemic, the learning system shifted to an online format. This study aims to determine student perceptions of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, assessed in terms of the following aspects: preferred learning media in online learning, knowledge or understanding, social competence, media usage skills, and obstacles encountered in online learning. This research employed a descriptive quantitative research. This study invited 187 students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education to fill an online survey administered through Google Forms. The online survey method was used for data collection purpose. Data analysis revealed that the online learning platform students preferred most was WhatsApp, as it allowed them to  save internet quota. Students' understanding of lecture materials during online learning was still lacking, their social competence did not increase, but their ability to use technology during online learning increased. The most dominant obstacles were technical problems, particularly network problems and limited internet quota. However, students still preferred offline learning to online learning. Therefore, in learning, lecturers should be able to combine both modes of learning, and provide online learning that can minimize internet data usage.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the cooperative learning model, Student Facilitator and Explaining, on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in Grade IX of SMP Tiga Hati Kepenuhan Hulu. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The study subjects were Grade IX students divided into two groups: the experimental group, which was taught using the Student Facilitator and Explaining model, and the control group, which was trained using a conventional learning model. Data were collected through a mathematical problem-solving ability test. The hypothesis testing results showed that the t-value (2.37) was greater than the t-table value (2.12) at a significance level of α = 0.05. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. This indicates a significant effect of the Student Facilitator and Explaining cooperative learning model on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities

Abstract

Tiga hal yang menjadi inti masalah pada mitra yaitu rendahnya kemampuan matematika siswa, kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap kemampuan apa yang wajib dikuasai sebagai dasar dalam memahami matematika, terakhir kurangnya pendampingan kepada siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal terkait dasar-dasar matematika yaitu materi operasi bilangan, pecahan dan bilangan berpangkat. Solusi yang akan dilakukan pada kegiatan ini adalah memberikan Sosialisasi mengenai kemampuan dasar yang harus dikuasai siswa untuk memahami matematika, Memberikan Sosialisai mengenai kemampuan yang diperlukan dan memberikan pendampingan dan bimbingan kepada siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal terkait materi-materi tersebut. Secara singkat tahapan dari kegiatan ini adalah persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pelaporan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh penggunaan Lembar Aktivitas Siswa (LAS) berbasis metode penemuan terbimbing terhadap kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 3 Rambah pada siswa kelas VII. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah soal essay yang disusun berdasarkan indikator kemampuan representasi matematis. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji Mann Whitney diperoleh nilai Zhitung yaitu 2,13 dan nilai Ztabel yaitu 1,96. Hal ini berarti Zhitung > Ztabel dengan demikian sesuai kriteria penguhian hipotesis, Ho ditolak. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan LAS berbasis metode penemuan terbimbing terhadap peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa SMP.
