Abstract

This research was intended to know the amount ofverbaI and nonverbal message s influence in thejingle ads, both partially and simultaneously, on the teenager s attention and retention toward product brand. As a kind ofcausality research. which was conducted with survey method, this research was located in Bandung Town District, with some High Senior School students as its respondents. The sampling techniques usedfor this research was random sampling techniques and Path Analysis as its toolfor data analysis. In general, this research concluded that messagefactor hadsome influences on the teenagers attention toward the Teh Botol Sosro s ad. On the other hand, the attention influenced brand retention as well. Therefore, in general, commercialjingle variables which are carried through intermediary variable (which is, attention), gave a relatively significant influence toward the teen s brand retention. Meanwhile, verbal messagefactor provided less meaningful influence. Based on the research result, it was concluded that the verbal and nonverbal message factors in the commercia/jingle simultaneously aroused teenager s retention toward the ads. That attention could arousing teenager retention then toward the product brand as well. Nonverbal message implied on the commercialjingle partially aroused the teen s attention toward the ad, meanwhile the verbal message on the same commercial didn ~ arouse the same attention toward the Teh Botol Sosro sad. More originality, variations and uniqueness are needed in arranging a copywritingfor such and in order to attract more attentionfrom teenager audience.

Abstract

Penelitian yang difokuskan pada pertanyaan: “Bagaimana Strategi Antisipasi dan Solusi Penyebaran Hoax Di Kalangan Dosen Universitas Islam Bandung”. Untuk mengkaji permasalahan tersebut, tim peneliti menetapkan metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Informan yang dijadikan narasumber adalah para dosen Universitas Islam Bandung dan mereka yang aktif menggunakan dan memanfaatkan media sosial khususnya WhatsApp (WA) baik di group dosen fakultasnya masing-masing, group universitas, pertemanan, organisasi, dan lain-lain yang terdiri dari 6 orang dosen di lingkungan Universitas Islam Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman dosen Unisba yang dijadikan narasumber tentang Hoax di media sosial WhatsApp (WA) secara prinsip memiliki kesamaan makna yakni cenderung memandang hoax adalah dalam kacamata yang sangat negatif. Hoax dapat berbentuk gambar, berita, verbal, dan hoax link.

Abstract

Multiple representations have an essential role in the mathematics learning process for the students, pre-service and in-service teachers. It is important for them to understand the concept of mathematics and mathematical problem solving particularly in word problem-solving. However, pre-service teacher and in-service do not fully notice of using a variety of representations in the learning process. Thus, the purposes of this study are intended (1)  to find out the type of multiple representations used by pre-service teachers to solve the word problem by their own,  and (2) to figure out how they teach the process of word problem solving to the students. The participants of this research were the sixth-semester students of the Mathematics Education Program. Their written responses were analyzed and interviewed (semi-structured interview). The result showed that the types of multiple representations used by pre-service teachers are symbolic and verbal representations. Different multiple representations are used to help the student in word problem solving, even though pre-service teachers did not fully aware to apply them in their teaching activity. Hence, sharing the knowledge and the usage of multiple representations for pre-service mathematics teachers are urgently required in the real classroom setting.

Abstract

This study is aimed to analyze the comparison between women’s representation and resistance in Josephine Chia’s novel Frog under a Coconut Shell from Singapore and The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy from India. By using a comparative literature approach, the research focuses on the differences and similarities in women’s representation and resistance to get gender equality in Singaporean and Indian society. Chia’s novel tells the story of Soon Neo and her daughter, Josephine, who struggles to get their rights as women in the midst of patriarchal Peranakan culture in Singapore, and Roy’s novel tells the story of Ammu and her twins children, Rahel and Estha, who fight against the social rules in India that are discriminative against women and the Untouchable people (Paravan). The research employed a descriptive qualitative analysis method and the theory of liberal feminism. There are similarities in the representation of women who are considered as second class and become the objects both sexually and economically; and restrained by their patriarchal society and culture. The difference of both novels is in the caste system which regulates women's freedom only reflected in The God of Small Things. From the perspective of liberal feminism, the female characters in both novels show resistance in making decision, education, society, and economy. However, resisting inequality in economy is only reflected in Frog under a Coconut Shell while resisting inequality in society is only reflected in The God of Small Things. The direct resistance is demonstrated in verbal and non-verbal ways.

Abstract

Spatifilum (Spathiphyllum wallisii) is a popular ornamental plant that can be used as indoor decoration, so its appearance should be attractive.  Apart from flowering, an interesting criteria for the appearance of the spatula is to have many tillers so that it looks lush.  One of the efforts to obtain this appearance is the provision of a growth regulator capable of accelerating shoot growth, namely Benzyladenine (BA).  The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of BA which produced the best effect on spatifylum growth.  This research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Horticulture Building, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung from July 2019 to January 2020.  This research was arranged in a structured single factor treatment design consisting of six BA concentration treatments, namely 0 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, 30 ppm, 40 ppm, and 50 ppm with six repetitions.  Data analysis used standard deviation which is presented in the form of a histogram by taking the average value of each treatment.  The results showed that the administration of benzyladenine with concentrations 10-50 ppm tended to increase spatifylum growth in the variable leaf area, leaf greenness, tiller emergence, number of tillers, flower emergence time, and number of flowers, but had no effect on the addition of plant height and number of leaves.  Giving benzyladenine with a concentration of 20 ppm was quite efficient in optimizing the vegetatif growth of spatilum, which was shown by the increase in plant height, increased number of leaves, time to emergence of tillers, and number of tillers.  On the other hand, the effect of benziladenine on the generative phase requires a higher concentration, namely at a concentration of 50 ppm, the time for which the flower buds appear is the fastest and the number of flowers is the most.  Keywords:  Benzyladenine, Concentration, and Spatifillum.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the audience's meaning regarding booktube. Booktube is content about books, such as book reviews, discussions with authors, video challenge, video bookshelf tour, book haul, etc on Youtube. This study uses a qualitative method with a reception analysis for participants belonging to the M Generations (Sesak Media Generation). Booktube interpreted differently by participants as audiences, which is interpreted as an ordinary content of YouTube that cannot replace conventional book reviews. Another interpretation of the audience regarding booktube is as a form that is not just ordinary content, but also a community and effort and attempt to increase the level of literacy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keragaman kelompok keagamaan Islam, membawa beragam karakteristik budaya komunikasi kelompok keislaman. Dalam komunikasi antarbudaya, hal ini merepresentasikan karakteristik subkultur komunikasi religius dari masing-masing kelompok organisasi keislaman, seperti Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhamadiyah, Persatuan Islam (Persis), dan Syarikat Islam (SI). Demikan pula dengan Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba),yang ber-statuta sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi Islam yang tidak berasas keorganisasian keislaman tertentu. Para pengajarnya, di antaranya, memiliki keragaman subkultur komunikasi religius keislaman.Penelitian ini mengkajibagaimanakah subkultur kelompok keislaman melakukan komunikasi antarbudaya di Unisba. Dengan menggunakan observasi, dan wawancara, sebagai teknik pengumpulan data, penelitian ini mengangkat pemaknaan makrosubjektif (seperti makna norma dan nilai dari misalnya, dalam kajian ini makna budaya keislaman tertentu), dan mikosubjektif (seperti makna ahlak mulia, makna kedewasaan, dan sebagainya). Dari sanalah, penelitian ini merumuskan temuan katagori-katagori dari komunikasi “subkultur” religius dari NU, SI, Persis dan Muhamadiyah, di dalam ruang komunikasi antarbudaya di Unisba. Hasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setiap individu subkultur kelompok keislaman meluruh ke dalam interaksi ahlakul kharimah keunisbaan, yang bervisi dan misi pengembangan keislaman dalam dunia akademis.

Abstract

One of the indicators of stakeholder assessment of higher education institutions is the service factor provided by the institution.  Online lectures and lecturer services – educators to students – are part of the communication services that Unisba provides to its students. Student dissatisfaction with the services that faculties and universities provide is usually conveyed on social media and it can be a boomerang effect for Unisba. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a form of service communication that is based on building relationships with customers.  The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of service communication on student satisfaction. This study uses quantitative analysis method to test the influences. The population is Unisba strata-1 (S1) active students in the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 12,854 students.  To determine the sample size, the authors used the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 0.09 and the number of samples is 132 students.  The sampling technique that the authors used was the stratified probability one. The data analysis that we used was simple linear regression to see the influence of people, process, and technology aspects on Unisba student satisfaction.  The research results show that human, process, and information technology aspects have a significant influence on Unisba student satisfaction.

Abstract

Abstract. Relationship that exists between individuals is a network. In the communication process,there is a network formed which will later form a pattern. Communication network analysis serves to describe communication patterns and the roles of actors in it. By knowing patterns and roles in a network, a communication will be more effective so that the purpose of delivering the message will be more efficient. This research method uses communication network analysis, which is a method that describes social networks and the structure of relationships between actors. The population of this study are members of the women's flag football community in Bandung. The entire population is 40 people and the sample is 15 WFF members who are still productive in the community. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires, interview observations and literature studies. The results of this study indicate that there are 3 actors who play an important and potential role in improving the existence of the community, while in the network formed in the women's flag football community in Bandung, there are 5 roles of actors, namely star, opinion leader, bridge, liaison, and isolate. The communication pattern formed in the community is star-shaped. The existence of the community so far has grown quite a bit from year to year, but the interest is still lacking because not many people know more about the women's flag football community in Bandung. Abstrak. Hubungan yang terjalin antar individu merupakan suatu jaringan. Dalam proses komunikasi terdapat jaringan yang terbentuk yang nantinya akan membentuk suatu pola. Analisis jaringan komunikasi berfungsi untuk menggambarkan pola komunikasi dan peran aktor di dalamnya. Dengan mengetahui pola dan peran dalam suatu jaringan maka suatu komunikasi akan lebih efektif sehingga tujuan penyampaian pesan akan lebih efisien. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis jaringan komunikasi, yaitu metode yang menggambarkan jaringan sosial dan struktur hubungan antar aktor. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah anggota komunitas sepakbola bendera putri di Kota Bandung. Seluruh populasi berjumlah 40 orang dan sampelnya adalah 15 anggota WFF yang masih produktif di masyarakat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner, observasi wawancara dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 3 aktor yang berperan penting dan potensial dalam meningkatkan eksistensi komunitas, sedangkan dalam jaringan yang terbentuk pada komunitas sepakbola bendera putri di Bandung terdapat 5 peran aktor yaitu bintang, pemimpin opini, jembatan, penghubung, dan mengisolasi. Pola komunikasi yang terbentuk dalam masyarakat berbentuk bintang. Keberadaan komunitas tersebut selama ini cukup berkembang dari tahun ke tahun, namun peminatnya masih kurang karena belum banyak yang mengetahui lebih jauh tentang komunitas sepakbola bendera wanita di Bandung.
