Agriculture still in production. Nevertheless, the characteristic of agrarian community as the base of agrarian village, certainly experiencing a decay. Agrarian community are not peasants who cultivate their agricultural land, but they are ‘quasy peasants’ who hire other people to do it. The real deagrarianizaton threats come from within peasant community itself. Agriculture was stopped in the second generation. The third generation from community more attached to various non-agriculture activities that grows exclusively.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze national policies on food and nutrition in the family food fulfillment practices in Aceh. Various programs to address food and nutrition problems have been made but nutrition problems have not been successfully resolved. The results of the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riset Kesehatan Dasar, Riskesdas) showed that the prevalence of stunting for baby under two years old in Aceh is the highest in Indonesia. This article was based on Foucauldian theory and a qualitative approach, through interviews with 40 families having children under five years old to recall the type of food consumed by all family members for 3 x 24 hours The results show that there is a gap between the practice of fulfilling family food in Aceh and national policies on food and nutrition. The practice of fulfilling family food is focused on carbohydrates and animal protein, while the government promotes the fulfillment of a balanced diet between carbohydrates and proteins (animal and vegetable) with vegetables and fruits. The gap occurs because of differences in the discourses of the power of the body and benefits of food. The community understands that food aims to make the body able to function properly (body productivity discourse). Meanwhile, the government aims for the human body to grow and develop ideally to avoid degenerative diseases (healthy body discourse). Family food fulfillment practices depend on the power of women’s knowledge, especially mothers’ who have the main role in fulfilling family food.

Abstract

This research was conducted referring to the theoretical elements of development communication, while the practical techniques used were not considered. The purpose of this study is to describe the conditions and problems faced by the community in Timor Tengah Selatan Regency (TTS), especially those who carry out people's weaving business and analyze the development communication that occurs in the TTS Regency community. Qualitative methods are used to interpret real-world social problems, including people's behavior, perceptions, and experiences. This study used secondary data. Researchers use dissertations, scientific journals, the internet, and data from related agencies to gather this data. Furthermore, the authors conducted direct interviews with a group of people's weaving craftsmen under the guidance of the Department of Trade, Industry, Cooperatives, and SMEs in the TTS Regency. This study found that development communication in an area has not yet led to empowerment. On the other hand, the dynamics of power between the elderly and the younger generation will continue to be a hallmark of society. Therefore, development communication must be carried out to facilitate the communication structure of different local cultures, and to encourage empowerment not only for parents but also for the younger generation.

Abstract

Social capital was one of the key factors in the development process, as it emerged from social relationships and, when collectively utilized, could influence the level of well-being. Well-being in this context did not only refer to material needs but also encompassed spiritual and social aspects. This study generally aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of social capital functionality and the well-being of members of the Cibulao Hijau Forest Farmer Group. The study involved 35 group members selected using a simple random sampling technique. A quantitative approach was employed, supported by qualitative data. Data were collected through questionnaire distribution, in-depth interviews, observation, and literature review. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation test. The results showed a significant correlation—categorized as moderate—between the functionality of social capital and the well-being level of group members. These findings indicated that the functionality of social capital served as one of the crucial indicators in determining the well-being level of the Cibulao Hijau Forest Farmer Group.
