Abstract

This study aims to identify the form and function of satire language style in netizen comments on the TikTok account @fujiiian. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The source of research data, namely netizen comments in the comments column of the @fujiiian account on the TikTok application. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation and documentation techniques or screen capture. Data analysis techniques, namely data reduction to highlight relevant information, data presentation is the stage where the data is displayed to be more easily understood, and conclusions to summarize the data that has been analyzed to be associated with the focus of the study. The results of this study indicate that the form of language style includes irony, cynicism, and sarcasm. The function of satire language style is divided into 5 categories, namely functions in the form of sentences, opinions, questions, similarities, comparisons, and commands.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the vocabulary use of children with Down Syndrome in communicating at SLB Negeri 1 Makassar; and 2) analyze the factors that influence the use of the vocabulary. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with two students with Down Syndrome, as well as a teacher at SLB Negeri 1 Makassar. The results show that the vocabulary used by students is dominated by simple nouns related to daily needs, such as books, shoes, and piggy banks. In addition, the initial use of verbs, adjectives, and question words is beginning to appear. Basic vocabulary is the most frequently used form, but the use of affixed and compound vocabulary is also found, although the pronunciation is not yet perfect. Factors that influence children's vocabulary development include age, education, social environment, media and technology, personal experiences, and culture. Older children who receive specific intervention or therapy show a wider variety of vocabulary. The findings of this study are significant for education and speech therapy, particularly in designing language learning strategies tailored to the needs of children with Down syndrome. These findings provide a concrete picture of the forms and patterns of vocabulary acquisition in children with special needs, thus providing a basis for developing more adaptive, communicative learning methods that focus on the individual child's potential.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pemberdayaan Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk membantu;  (1) anak panti asuhan yang tidak mengenali huruf, angka, dan tanda baca; (2) anak panti asuhan tidak dapat menulis angka, huruf, dan tanda baca; (3) anak panti asuhan sering bosan jika diajar membaca dan menulis; (4) konsentrasi anak panti asuhan sering terganggu jika ada orang dewasa yang bermain gadget di sekitarnya; (5) anak panti asuhan sering bolos atau kabur dari panti asuhan karena bosan dan ingin bermain game dengan orang lain di luar. Target akhir dari Pemberdayaan Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan anak panti tentang huruf, angka, dan tanda baca. Pengelola dan pengasuh panti juga memahami digital perenting dan keterampilan mengelola perilaku digital warga panti. PKM ini juga akan menghasilkan video, media publikasi pada media massa (cetak dan elektronik), dan artikel yang diseminarkan. Kata kunci: buta aksara, content creatif, panti asuhan

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of linguistic politeness used by students towards teachers in Indonesian language learning interactions in Grade VII at Makassar Mulya Junior High School. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through recording, transcription, and note-taking techniques. The analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method that included tabulation, presentation, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the teachers' linguistic politeness towards students includes the use of declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences that comply with various maxims such as prudence, simplicity, agreement, and sympathy. Meanwhile, the students' politeness towards teachers also follows similar maxims, with the addition of the maxim of appreciation in exclamatory sentences. Overall, the students' linguistic politeness falls into the polite category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe various forms of errors in sentence usage by seventh-grade students at Mahaputra Junior High School when writing descriptive texts, with a focus on sentence effectiveness. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, in which data is collected through students' descriptive texts and then analysed to identify errors. The study data consisted of 11 students' descriptive texts, which were presented in tabular form with students coded using letters of the alphabet, while errors were marked with numbers. The results of the analysis showed that the use of effective sentences in students' descriptive texts did not meet the requirements for effective sentences as a whole. From a total of 11 texts, various errors were found that indicated a lack of understanding among students regarding the aspects of sentence effectiveness. These findings indicate that there is still much room for improvement in terms of composing sentences that are more effective and in accordance with the applicable rules.

Abstract

Pantun merupakan unsur penting dalam prosesi Pangakkasan masyarakat Makki yang berfungsi sebagai media komunikasi simbolik untuk menyampaikan penghormatan, legitimasi hubungan, dan nilai budaya dalam upacara adat. Namun, perubahan sosial dan modernisasi menyebabkan melemahnya pemahaman generasi muda terhadap bahasa pantun, terutama terhadap kosakata lama dan metafora yang berasal dari bahasa tomatua. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dinamika penggunaan pantun sebagai identitas budaya masyarakat Kallan Baru melalui pendekatan sosiolinguistik, khususnya konsep language maintenance dan language shift. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi prosesi adat, wawancara mendalam dengan tetua adat, orang tua, dan generasi muda, serta dokumentasi arsip pantun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pantun masih dipertahankan sebagai elemen normatif dalam Pangakkasan dan dipandang menentukan kesahihan ritual. Meskipun demikian, terjadi penurunan kompetensi linguistik pada generasi muda akibat terbatasnya domain penggunaan, perubahan gaya hidup, dan minimnya pewarisan budaya dalam keluarga. Strategi adaptasi berupa penyederhanaan diksi dan pencampuran bahasa muncul sebagai upaya menjaga relevansi pantun, namun berpotensi mengurangi kekayaan makna tradisionalnya. Faktor usia, gender, etnis keluarga, dan kondisi ekonomi turut memengaruhi tingkat pemahaman dan keterlibatan generasi muda. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keberlanjutan pantun memerlukan pelestarian ritual yang diimbangi dengan penguatan kompetensi linguistik melalui pendidikan budaya dan pewarisan intergenerasional.

Abstract

Abstract: This study analyzes the form and function of presuppositions in Denny Sumargo's video podcast entitled “TikTok Banned Today, Killing MSMEs” as part of the digital discourse discussing the polemic surrounding the ban on TikTok Shop in Indonesia. Previous studies on presuppositions in digital media have generally focused on static texts and entertainment content, and have not examined the use of presuppositions as a strategy for framing digital economic policy issues. This study aims to identify the types of presuppositions and explain their role in constructing representations of MSMEs and government regulations. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data was collected through listening and note-taking techniques on video transcripts lasting approximately 1 hour and 21 minutes. Relevant utterances were analyzed based on six categories of presuppositions according to Yule (1996), including existential, factual, non-factual, lexical, structural, and counterfactual presuppositions. A total of fourteen utterances were selected purposively and interpreted contextually to examine the discursive strategies used by the speakers. The results of the study show that all types of presuppositions appear in podcasts, with a predominance of existential and factual presuppositions. Both types serve to affirm the existence of losses suffered by MSMEs, TikTok Shop practices, and the urgency of regulation as facts that must be accepted by the audience. Meanwhile, lexical and structural presuppositions normalize the narrative of TikTok's threat to the local market, and non-factual and counterfactual presuppositions are used to convey risks and hypothetical scenarios that strengthen the persuasiveness of the discourse. These findings show that in digital discourse, presuppositions are not only devices of meaning but also framing instruments that influence how the public interprets digital economic policies. This research contributes to strengthening pragmatic studies in the context of new media and opens up opportunities for further research on the use of presuppositions on various other digital platforms.

Abstract

Isu ketepatan kebahasaan dalam buku bacaan anak masih menjadi perhatian penting dalam kajian linguistik terapan dan pendidikan bahasa. Buku seri membaca awal berperan strategis dalam membentuk kemampuan berbahasa dan berpikir anak, tetapi sebagian besar buku anak di Indonesia masih lebih menonjolkan aspek visual dan moral daripada struktur linguistic yang sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan bahasa anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan representasti pola frasa bahasa anak dalam Bku Seri Membaca B-1 serta mengungkap karakteristik linguistic yang mendukung keterpahaman dan pemerolehan bahasa pada tahap literasi awal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis linguistik deskriptif. Data berupa frasa-frasa dalam empat judul buku dianalisis menggunakan metode distribusional dan padan intralingual untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk, fungsi, dan kecenderungan linguistiknya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapa lima jenis frasa utama, yaitu frasa nominal, frasa verbal, ffrasa adjektival, frasa preposisional, dan frasa adverbial dengan dominasi frasa nominal dan frasa verbal mencapao 69%. Pola frasa sederhana dan berulang mencerminkan karakteristik bahasa anak yang konkret dan komunikatif serta mendukung perkembangan kesadaran sintaksis (syntactic awareness). Temuan ini memperkenalkan konsep literasi structural anakk, yaitu kemampuan memahami hubungan sintaksis sederhana melalui paparan frasa yang sesuai dengan tahap kognitif anak. Dengan demikian, Buku Seri Membaca B-1 tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai bahan literasi awal, tetapi juga sebagai instrument linguistik yang mendukung pemerolehan bahasa Indonesia secara fungsional dan sistematis.

Abstract

This study aims to identify various forms of repetitive language styles and analyze the function of their use in the film Jembatan Pensil by Hasto Broto on the upload of the Dailykmps YouTube account. This research uses a stylistic approach, which is a study that analyzes language styles and their functions in the context of speech. The research data was obtained from the dialogues of the characters in the film, then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation (data display), and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that there are ten forms of repetitive language styles, namely epizeukis, anaphora, tautotes, and so on. In addition, the function of the repetitive language style in this film is found in ten aspects, including strengthening the expression of feelings, emphasizing meaning, and strengthening the message. Thus, the repetitive language style in the film Pencil Bridge plays an important role in strengthening the meaning, livening up the atmosphere, and conveying the moral values contained in the story. The scientific contribution of this research lies in strengthening the study of stylistics through its application to film media, especially in the analysis of repetitive language styles, so that the findings of this research can be used as a reference for future studies that focus on audiovisual works.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Baamboozle learning evaluation media on students’ ability to review fictional works (novels) within the context of Indonesian language learning. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest–posttest). The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests at a 0.05 significance level. The parametric analysis (paired sample t-test) produced a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05) with a tvalue of -19.110, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. These results confirm that the use of Baamboozle has a significant effect on the reviewing skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Parepare. Improvements were evident in students’ ability to understand the definitions and types of fictional works, identify intrinsic elements of novels, classify linguistic features, and compose coherent and well-structured reviews.
