Abstract

Wood needs to be dried until it reaches the amount of moisture content (KA) that meets the needs of the buyer, namely the environmental conditions where the wood will be used later. Position on the stem can affect the properties of wood. The aims of this study were a) to analyze the physical properties in the axial and radial directions of Gerunggang wood, namely: maximum moisture content, air moisture content, specific gravity, shrinkage; b) Analyze the natural drying rate in the axial and radial directions of Gerunggang wood. The method used in the physical properties test refers to British standards. Parameters measured were specific gravity, moisture content and radial/tangential shrinkage, natural drying rate. Statistical analysis used a completely randomized design with a 2x2 factorial. The results showed that the location in the axial and radial directions of the wood had no significant effect on the physical properties of gerunggang wood;. The natural drying rate of Gerunggang wood is significantly influenced by its location in the axial direction, where the base has a lower value than the tip.

Abstract

Land cover changes are difficult to review caused by large areas where the rate of its changes can not be controlled. Its changes need to be learned to obtain information of forest condition. The purpose of this study is to analyze land cover changes in 2015 to 2019 using Landsat 8 OLI-TIRS imagery including to know the vegetation diversity in Kapuas Tengah Sub District, Central Kalimantan Province. The results showed that during this time there are degradation of dense forest to shrubs approximately 7,857.061 ha and reforestation of medium forest to dense forest was 7,220.401 ha. The increasing of land cover is also occurred from open area to forest approximately 277.248 ha through palm oil plantations. The accuracy level of land cover classification is still not maximum. The results of the vegetation analysis also show that at each level of forest growth there are variations in species, which are dominated by red meranti (Shorea johorensis Foxw), white ketumbu, kalapapa and sampahiring (Cyperus Sp.). Diversity index and species richness index are categorized as low to moderate. Whereas the species evenness index is high category with index value of 1.

Abstract

Energy potential and reserves such as petroleum and natural gas available in the bowels of the earth are running low, so alternative energy is needed. Charcoal briquettes are one of the non-oil and gas energy sources that have a high enough potential to meet future needs other than oil and natural gas. Sawmills in the furniture industry produce sawdust of sungkai (Peronema canesens) and ironwood (Eusyderoxylon zwageri) wood powder which can be used as raw materials for making charcoal briquettes. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of charcoal briquettes produced from the waste composition of sungkai sawdust and ironwood sawdust. The average test results for the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of each test treatment complied with SNI (01-62365-2000) except for density and volatile matter. The best quality of charcoal briquettes was found in treatment K1 (0% Sungkai and 100% Ulin) with density of 0.57 (g/cm3), compressive strength of 65.76 kg/cm2, moisture content of 4.08%, volatile matter content of 29 .76%, ash content 1.20%, fixed carbon content 62.77% and calorific value 6869.71 cal/g.

Abstract

Limbah kayu yang berlimpah dapat mencemari lingkungan, perlu pengelolaan menjadi briket arang agar dapat dimanfaatkan dengan efisien dan sebagai alternatif energi terbarukan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik briket arang dari limbah serbuk meranti (Shorea spp) kemudian hasil pengujian akan dibandingkan dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia SNI 01-6235-2000 tentang briket arang. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), terdiri dari perlakuan dengan perbedaan ukuran serbuk yaitu 20 mesh, 40 mesh, 60 mesh dan 80 mesh dengan ulangan 5 kali, sehingga diperoleh jumlah sampel pengujian sebanyak 20 sampel pengujian. Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Sidik Ragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan briket arang dari limbah serbuk meranti masuk dalam Standar Nasional Indonesia, kecuali pegujian kadar zat mudah menguap. Dilihat dari nilai rata-rata pengujian setiap sampel, yaitu nilai kerapatan 0,79 g/cm³, keteguhan tekan 3,07 kg/cm², kadar air 4,72%, kadar zat mudah menguap 27,85%, kadar abu 3,33%, kadar karbon terikat 63,90%, dan nilai kalor 7090,08 Cal/g.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cauliflower are very useful for humans, and have high economic value, but their production in Central Kalimantan is still low because they are grown on utisol soils with low fertility. Therefore, optimal management is needed in order to produce well. This study aims to determine the response of cauliflower plants to the application of Multi KP compound fertilizer and determine the optimal dose of fertilizer for growth and yield of flower cabbage plants. Using a completely randomized design with 5 treatments, namely the application of Multi KP fertilizer with doses of 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 g plants. 1 . The results showed that the dose of Multi KP fertilizer was 4 g plant-1, the best growth and yield were obtained, namely the plants were able to grow taller, the number of leaves was more, and the cauliflower weight was 320 g per plant.

Abstract

Eco enzyme is the result of the utilization of fermentation of organic waste remaining fruit and vegetable peels, used as liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The combination of eco enzyme treatment and vermicompost as ameliorant is expected to improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of peat soil as a growing medium for okra plants (Abelmachus esculentus L. Moen). The research analyzed the effectiveness of eco enzyme and vermicompost on root adhering soil and carbon dioxide uptake of okra plants (Abelmachus esculentus L. Moench) grown on histosol. The results of the study showed that the application of POC eco enzyme and vermicompost on histosol had a significant effect on the ability of roots to hold soil (RAS), wet weight, dry weight, biomass (carbon) and carbon dioxide uptake of okra plants. The treatment of POC eco enzyme 60 ml/polybag and vermicompost 84.75 g/polybag is the ideal planting media composition and the best dose. BNJ 5% test V1E1 treatment was significantly different on carbon dioxide absorption compared to V3E3, V2E2 and V0E0 treatments

Abstract

Central Kalimantan has many types of wood such as Rengas (gluta sp), Bangkirai (shorea laevifolia endert), and Agathis (agathis spp). The third type of woods are found in the company of furniture as a result of waste in powder form so that it can be utilized for the manufacture of charcoal briquettes. The purpose of the research is to find out the characteristics of charcoal briquettes from wood waste Rengas, Bangkirai, and Agathis which refers to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 01-6235-2000). The treatment of this research done on Bangkirai wood, Rengas, and Agathis which have different density with 5 replications so that the samples obtained 15 pieces. Data analysis was conducted to determine the effect of the treatment on the character of the studied and if it has significant effect then it is analyzed test difference average middle value that is specified by Coefficient Value of Diversity. Charcoal briquettes testing generally meets Indonesian National Standard (01-6235-2000) on charcoal briquettes except for volatile substances. The research data finding from these three types of wood which examined showed that the type of Bangkirai wood powder has the best charcoal briquette quality because of lower water content is at 5.05%, the higher density is 0.72 g/cm3, the ash content is 1.9% , carbon bound is 63.30%, volatile substance content is 29.75%, press firmness is 41.67kg/cm2, and calorific value is 6958.94 kal/g

Abstract

Pengembangan inovasi teknologi dalam pengukuran serapan CO2 tumbuhan, salah satunya dengan menggunakan metode sungkup (chamber) sampai saat ini metode tersebut belum banyak digunakan oleh para peneliti sehingga diperlukan adanya penjelasan terkait gambaran metode sungkup dalam pengukuran serapan CO2, khususnya pada pertumbuhan anakan. Tujuan dari penulisan makalah ilmiah adalah memberikan gambaran secara umum terkait prosedur pengukuran serapan CO2 pada tingkat pertumbuhan anakan dengan menggunakan metode sungkup. Metode sungkup pada awalnya digunakan untuk mengukur emisi Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK) di lahan gambut, namun seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi metode ini dapat juga digunakan untuk mengukur serapan CO2 pada tumbuhan. Ukuran sungkup yang digunakan adalah 50 x 50 x 30 cm dilengkapi dengan termometer, kipas angin dan baterai kering. Pengambilan sampel gas CO2 dalam sungkup digunakan syringe/jarum suntik berukuran 10 ml. Alat untuk menganalisis sampel gas CO2 adalah Gas Cromatography (GC). Proses pengukuran serapan CO2 dengan metode sungkup relatif cepat dan sederhana serta data yang didapatkan dapat digunakan untuk memprediksi serapan CO2 berdasarkan pertambahan umur tumbuhan. Namun demikian, keterbatasan dari metode ini adalah hanya dapat digunakan untuk mengukur serapan CO2 pada tingkat pertumbuhan anakan.

Abstract

Fuel oil and gas in the coming years will still be the main energy source in supporting community activities. However, the increase in world oil prices led to an increase in fuel prices including gas and kerosene. One of the alternative energy sources that can be used is the use of wood waste as fuel for households or industries in the form of biomass pellets (pellets). The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of wood pellets from laban wood (Vitex pubescens) based on SNI 8021: 2014. This study used laban wood powder from the stems, branches and twigs, and tapioca flour as adhesives. The size of the powder used was 40 mesh stuck in 60 mesh. The pellet stamping used a pressure of 60 kg/cm3. The wood pellets tested included moisture content, density, volatile matter content, fixed carbon content, ash content, and calorific value. The test results showed that the stems of laban wood pellets produced better qualities than the branches and twigs parts although they were not significantly different. The range of laban wood pellets from the middle stems, branches and twigs were 11.27 ̶ 11.62% (moisture content), density were 0.34 ̶ 0.53 g/cm3, ash content were 0.83 ̶ 1,05%, volatile matter content were 71.20-72.00%, carbon content were 14.93-16.38%, and calorific value were 4486.46 ̶ 4514.46 cal/g. The test results were within the requirement of the Standards of Indonesia (SNI 8021-2014), the Korea Standard (KFS), and the Jeman Standard (DIN51371), except the density was not within the requirement of the SNI 8021-2014 Standard and the Jerman Standard (DIN51371). The density of the stem section was within the requirement of the Korean standard.

Abstract

Class VIII students of MTs Babussalam so far, learning is still carried out with the conventional approach of learning through explanations and namely question and answer, this does not create critical, creative and scientific students, so that students are more qualified, learning with a scientific approach needs to be applied, in that the writer wants to apply and indicators of whether the scientific approach can form quality students, or whether the scientific approach can affect the quality of student learning so that with the scientific approach students are better able to reason, understand and analyze problems in learning. This is the rationale for the author to conduct deeper research. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the learning quality of class VIII students of MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency. how is the scientific approach in the teaching and learning process carried out in class VIII MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency. Is there an effect of scientific learning on the learning quality of class VIII students of MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency. Based on the results of the research, the learning quality of class VIII students at MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency has a good learning quality, this can be seen from the students' ability to take part in the teaching and learning process with a scientific approach. Science in the teaching and learning process carried out in class VIII MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency is through a scientific approach, a thinking power development approach, approaches and hypotheses and the ability to present problems and finally the ability to draw conclusions on existing problems. The effect of scientific learning on the learning quality of class VIII students of MTs Babussalam Batu Karang, Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency, because with a scientific approach it can improve critical thinking skills, scientific thinking, problem analysis and identification skills, data and the ability to take resources owned by students.
