Abstract

This study explores the implementation of diagnostic assessment in Geography education within the Merdeka Curriculum framework at SMA Negeri 1 Blora. Diagnostic assessment serves to identify students' prior knowledge, enabling teachers to tailor instruction and design personalized strategies aligned with curriculum goals. Employing a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations, and document analysis. Findings reveal that diagnostic assessment is conducted in three stages planning, implementation, and follow-up. During planning, teachers prepare assessment tools aligned with curriculum objectives. Implementation occurs before new topics to gauge students' baseline knowledge, while follow-up involves adjusting teaching methods based on assessment results to address learning gaps. Challenges include limited time and difficulty in developing comprehensive, accurate questions. Despite these, diagnostic assessment enhances students’ Geography understanding and improves education quality under the Merdeka Curriculum. The study emphasizes its role in fostering a student-centered learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of academic supervision, learning communities, and collaborative leadership on the quality of learning in public elementary schools in Mijen District, Semarang City. The research employed a quantitative approach with regression analysis to test the proposed hypotheses. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires and interviews with 147 teachers and principals, ensuring direct insights from practitioners about the dynamics of supervision, collaboration, and learning quality. Secondary data were obtained from school documents, official education reports, and relevant policy guidelines, which provided contextual support and validation for the primary findings. The analysis results demonstrate that academic supervision has a significant effect on improving learning practices, though planning dimensions require further strengthening. Learning communities contribute substantially by fostering professional collaboration and reflective practice, while collaborative leadership shows a moderate but meaningful impact in building supportive and goal-oriented school cultures. Together, these three variables explain 77.3% of the variation in learning quality, with the remaining 22.7% influenced by external factors such as teacher motivation, parental involvement, and institutional policies. The findings highlight the need for integrative strategies that combine structured supervision, active learning communities, and collaborative leadership to create a sustainable ecosystem for quality education. This study contributes to the broader discourse on school improvement by emphasizing the synergy between supervision, collaboration, and leadership in enhancing teaching and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Implementation of the Child-Friendly School (Sekolah Ramah Anak/SRA) policy is a strategic effort to ensure the fulfillment of children’s rights and to create a safe, inclusive, and child-centered educational environment. However, the effectiveness of this policy largely depends on school leadership, particularly the Principal’s transformational leadership. This study aims to analyze the role of principals’ transformational leadership in implementing the Child-Friendly School policy at SMP Negeri 1 Tegowanu. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from primary and secondary sources involving the Principal, teachers, students, parents, and school committee members. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tegowanu. Data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through technique triangulation, source triangulation, and time triangulation. The findings indicate that principals’ transformational leadership plays a crucial role in supporting the Implementation of the Child-Friendly School policy through four interrelated dimensions. Inspirational motivation encourages teachers to continuously develop their competencies, significant experiences, and Collaborative Innovation through collaborative problem-solving and the adoption of child-friendly learning strategies. Individualized consideration is reflected in the Principal’s attention to individual differences, recognition of achievements, and personalized support for school members. Idealized influence is demonstrated through exemplary behavior, integrity, and strong commitment to child protection principles. The novelty of this study lies in identifying collective decision-making as a key leadership practice that strengthens policy implementation and ensures the fulfillment of children’s rights in a non-discriminatory manner.
