Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of digital readiness on economic growth and see the difference based on the level of state income using interaction dummy variables. Networked Readiness Index and its 16 individual indicators is used as a proxy for digital readiness. The research method used is panel data regression analysis covering 105 countries over a period of 4 years (2013-2016). Panel data regression analysis shows that public investment and labor force are significantly positive on economic growth, while inflation has a negative significant impact. Digital readiness is significantly positive on economic growth only in high-income countries but has a significant negative impact in middle and low-income countries. Indicators that have the greatest impact on economic growth are Government Procurement of Advanced Technology in high-income countries and Adult Literacy Rate in middle-income countries. Digital readiness cannot directly increase economic growth without adequate capital and labor factors. Governments of middle and low-income countries should focus more on ICT development, both through ICT infrastructure and the quality of human resources to take advantage of digital technology.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of El Nino and La Nina on cabbage and shallot prices by applying the spatial correlation analysis method with 34 provinces from 2010 to 2020 to classify affected areas. The next method is a spatial panel with the main variables: rainfall as an indicator of El Nino and La Nina, commodity prices, spatial effects, and other supporting variables such as income, productivity, wages, and COVID-19 dummy. To get the output model, it is necessary to analyze the selection of the best model between the Structural Equation Model and the Spatial Autoregressive. The results of the study provide findings: (1) there are 16 provinces affected by El Nino and La Nina in Indonesia; (2) the best spatial panel model used is Spatial Autoregressive with the resulting La Nina has a large effect on increasing of cabbage and shallots prices because excess soil water content will cause crops and bulbs to rot easily. The spatial aspect has a significant influence, meaning that the price of cabbage and shallots in one area will affect the prices of the two commodities in other areas through distribution patterns. Policy implications of the impact of El Nino and La Nina in this study are classified into managerial, mitigation, and adaptation strategies including the policy of the Regional Inflation Control Team in the form of inter-regional cooperation. Keywords: cabbage, el nino, la nina, shallot, spatial

Abstract

Volatility can be measured, but in fact, there is still frequent debate over the selection of precise measurements in describing volatility. In Indonesia, the commodity market is known for its volatile prices, which can impact the livelihood of farmers, traders, and the wider economy. The existence of possible asymmetry in the behavior of food commodity price volatility in the Indonesian market is not yet known. This paper aims to determine the best model to describe the volatility and to investigates the presence of the asymmetric effect on the volatility of food prices in Indonesia, over the period 2009-2019, on a monthly basis. Modeling of volatility uses the GARCH family model, both symmetric and asymmetric. The results showed that the GARCH asymmetric model produces better performance than the symmetric GARCH. Through the best GARCH asymmetric model, the food commodities used in this study showed a statistically significant asymmetrical effect on volatility. Nevertheless, policymakers and market players need to be aware of the impact of market volatility and implement measures such as real-time price information systems to mitigate its effects. The government can increase food production by providing support to farmers in managing supply efficiency and improving agricultural infrastructure. Abstract

Climate change is believed to impact the economy of a country. The production of food crop commodities is one of the activities that is negatively impacted by the climate change and the volume of exports. Palm oil, coffee beans, and cocoa beans are the agricultural sector's leading commodities with high competitiveness in international markets and contribute significantly to exporting countries' economies. This research aims to determine the impact of climate change (changes in the annual average temperature and total annual precipitation) on the exports of the three commodities. This study uses secondary data from various sources. The data were analyzed using panel data regression analysis. The result shows that temperature and precipitation variables have different effects on the three commodities. Temperature and precipitation variables have a significant adverse impact on coffee bean exports. In contrast, temperature and precipitation variables positively affect palm oil exports. Meanwhile, for cocoa beans, only the precipitation variable positively affects export. Adaptation action by introducing climate varietas is important to maintain future exports of those commodities. Abstract

Overall, the performance of retail companies in the capital market shows a downward trend in recent years. However, amid the decline, some retail companies still show optimism by investing to boost their business activities. This research will analyze the effect of investment decisions, dividend policies, and funding decisions made by retail companies on the value of their companies. Data from 21 companies from 2014-2018 used panel data regression. The results of the panel regression model concluded that the variables Return on Equity (ROE), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), Debt To Asset Ratio (DAR) had a significant effect on Price per Book Value (PBV). Based on the results of the study, the main factor that needs to be considered by companies to be able to increase company value is financial performance, especially company profitability (ROE and ROA). Another factor that also needs to be considered by the company to increase the value of the company is the proportion of debt in the capital structure

Abstract

Capital availability is necessary to support economic growth in order to reach its potential. Sources of capital supply might come from various sources owned by the state or foreigners. One of the foreign capital supplies comes from foreign direct investment (FDI). Recently, FDI is known to be one of the factors driving the national income of various countries in the world, including ASEAN countries. This study examines the influence of FDI, inflation, and the labor force participation rate (TPAK) on GDP in ASEAN countries. This study used secondary data in the form of panel data from eleven ASEAN countries for the period 2010 to 2020. The analytical method involved using the static panel analysis with the best model in the form of a fixed effect model (FEM) equipped with descriptive statistical analysis for each variable in this study. The results confirmed that FDI has a positive and significant effect on GDP. Meanwhile, inflation and TPAK has a negative and significant impact on nominal GDP in ASEAN countries over the time span of observation. For this reason, the governments of each country need to formulate strategies and policies to encourage investment improvement and economic stability. This is important to support each country's economy to achieve its best potential.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of financial literacy, risk tolerance, and trust on cryptocurrency investment decision-making among the millennial generation in Jabodetabek. Cryptocurrency adoption in Indonesia has surged, with millennials as the dominant investor group, despite the inherent risks such as price volatility and regulatory uncertainty. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the theoretical framework, this research investigates how attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, alongside financial literacy, risk tolerance, and trust, affect millennials’ decisions to invest in cryptocurrencies. A quantitative approach was employed, surveying 325 millennial investors across Jabodetabek. The findings indicate that attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, risk tolerance, and trust significantly influence investment intentions and behavior. Contrarily, financial literacy showed no significant direct effect on investment intentions, suggesting that even investors with limited financial knowledge are inclined to invest due to positive attitudes and social influences. Risk tolerance and trust were found to play critical roles in shaping investment decisions, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in navigating cryptocurrency markets. These insights provide valuable implications for policymakers, financial educators, and cryptocurrency platform developers to foster more informed and responsible investment behaviors among young investors

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide a literature review of green bonds and their relation with other financial assets. Most of the research that has been conducted has focused on the spillover transmission from the financial asset market to the green bond market. The method used to select and analyze the results of journal reviews is Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The journals used in this study are Scopus-indexed journals, which are searched using the keywords green bond, cointegration, transmission, and spillover. The result indicates that green bonds can be used as an alternative in diversifying portfolio instruments. Based on previous studies, it was found that there was spillover transmission from the financial asset market to the green bond market. This indicates that volatility in the financial market will spill over and affect the green bond market. This study can be used as a strategy for making investment decisions, especially in building investment portfolios.
