Abstract

High intensity and good acceleration speed are distinct advantages in a futsal team, thus the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of speed training on the physical performance of futsal players in West Java. The method used in this research is experimental, with a pretest–posttest one group design approach. A purposive sampling technique with inclusion criteria was used in selecting subjects. The total subjects were 30 male futsal players with an average (age of 18.18 ± 2.11 years, height of 168.20 ± 5.32 cm, weight of 60.49 ± 4.23 kg, and fat of 10.19 ± 1.65 %). Data were analyzed using the SPSS version 22 application with a significance level of p <0.05. The results showed that speed training carried out for 10 weeks significantly impacted aerobic Capacity (p=0.005) and agility (p=0.008). While for the vertical jump and 20-meter sprint, there was an increase, but not significant. Thus the findings in this study can be used as a recommendation for coaches and athletes to train in the basic components of speed to help their physical performance properly.

Abstract

Background: Body Mass Index (BMI) is widely used as an indicator of body composition and nutritional status, yet its interaction with nutritional habits—particularly pre-exercise meal timing—remains underexplored among college students. Understanding these relationships is important for promoting active and healthy lifestyles within this population. Objectives: This study aims to test a mediation model in which pre-exercise meal timing serves as a potential mechanism linking BMI to running performance among college students. Methods: This quantitative study involved 213 college students who completed an online questionnaire reporting self-reported BMI, pre-exercise meal timing, and running pace (minutes per kilometre). Mediation analysis using the PROCESS macro (Model 4) in SPSS with bootstrapping procedures was applied to examine the mediating role of pre-exercise meal timing. Results: BMI was positively associated with running pace, indicating that higher BMI values were linked to slower running performance. The model explained 24.3% of the variance in running pace (R² = 0.243). The indirect effect of pre-exercise meal timing was minimal and not statistically significant (B = −0.004, 95% CI [−0.010, 0.001]), suggesting a limited mediating role. Students with higher BMI tended to consume meals closer to exercise time, reflecting potential behavioral differences. Conclusion: Although the mediating role of pre-exercise meal timing was negligible, BMI remained a significant predictor of running performance among college students. These findings suggest that physiological factors may play a more prominent role than short-term dietary timing in endurance outcomes. Campus health interventions may benefit from integrating body composition management with balanced nutritional strategies to enhance student fitness and well-being.

Abstract

Background: Football training is frequently associated with the injuries occuring, thus highlighting the crucial need for sports science to focus on the relationship between training load and injury incidence. In team sports, injuries can disrupt both individual athlete performance and overall team success. Training-load-related injuries are generally preventable, necessitating practical approaches such as internal training load monitoring. Methods: This study employed a systematic literature review methodology. Relevant keywords were combined using the Scopus database. Only English-language research articles published between 2014 and 2024, focusing on internal training load monitoring and injury in football, and involving professional or elite male and female football players, were analyzed. Results: The analysis yielded seven research articles that met the inclusion criteria. Injuries in football are a significant concern due to their negative impact on team. A significant relationship between internal load measurements and injury occurrence was found, although some previous studies did not support this finding. Internal training load variables applicable to football include Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE), heart rate, and blood biomarkers. Conclusions: A significant relationship exists between internal load measurements and injury occurrence in elite football players. In the context of training load monitoring, there is a significant practical value for coaches and healthcare staff to adopt this approach as an injury prevention strategy. For professional or elite level football, particularly, it is recommended to integrate monitoring methods using multiple internal load measurement variables.

Abstract

Background: This study aims to describe and compare the physiological characteristics of junior men’s and women’s doubles athletes in badminton. Methods: Testing consists of anthropometric and physical ability tests. Anthropometry includes height, weight, BMI, fat mass, muscle mass. Physical ability tests include handgrip, sit & reach, counter movement jump, stroke stand balance, whole body reaction, 10m sprint, ilinois agility test, VO2max (multi stage sprint), anaerobic capacity (RAST Test). Statistical analysis using normality test and paired t-test. Results: The results showed significant differences in almost all anthropometric tests except BMI. There are significant differences in the components of hand grip ability, CMJ, 10m sprint, VO2max, anaerobic capacity and there are no significant differences in sit & reach ability, balance, reaction and agility. Conclusions: By utilizing all the findings, practical suggestions can be designed for junior badminton athlete coaches.

Abstract

Abstract Research on sport-based Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has developed rapidly and is no longer understood merely as a social activity but also as part of a sports organization’s sustainability strategy. This study aims to map the development, knowledge structure, and main themes in sport-based CSR research. The study employs a bibliometric analysis method using data from the Scopus database consisting of English-language journal articles from 2009 to 2025. The analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer to identify publication trends, productive authors, leading journals, and keyword network visualizations. The results indicate that publications on sport-based CSR have seen a significant increase, particularly after 2015, in line with growing attention to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The most dominant research themes relate to environmental sustainability, sports organization management, consumer behaviour, and organizational governance. Furthermore, the analysis indicates that sport-based CSR research is dominated by developed countries and focuses on sustainability issues within the sports industry. The study’s conclusions suggest that sport-based CSR research is evolving toward a more strategic and sustainability- oriented approach. This study is expected to serve as a reference for future sport- based CSR research. Keywords: bibliometric analysis, SDGs, sport-based CSR, sport management, VOSviewer.

Abstract

Background: In weight-class sports like weightlifting, dietary habits and nutrition knowledge are critical to optimizing body composition and performance. Despite the importance of these factors, limited research has explored the nutritional behaviors and knowledge of elite Indonesian weightlifters. This study addresses that gap by evaluating both dimensions in a professional athletic context. Research Objectives: This study aims to examine the levels of nutritional knowledge and dietary intake among Indonesian professional weightlifters, with the goal of providing recommendations to enhance Indonesia's achievements in the sport. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 24 national-level Indonesian weightlifters with at least four years of competitive experience. Participants completed a validated nutrition knowledge questionnaire and a 7-day dietary recall. Data were analyzed using SPSS to determine average intake values and knowledge scores. Findings/Results: Findings revealed that none of the athletes met the recommended dietary intake across all major nutrient categories. Protein intake was the closest to adequacy, while energy, carbohydrate, calcium, and fiber intake were below standard recommendations. Additionally, athletes showed low levels of nutritional knowledge in all assessed areas. Conclusion: Both nutritional knowledge and dietary intake among Indonesian professional weightlifters are inadequate and may hinder optimal performance and recovery. This highlights the urgent need for targeted nutrition education and individualized dietary planning. Future interventions should also consider psychosocial and environmental factors such as food access, cultural influences, time constraints, and social support to ensure sustainable improvements in athletes’ eating behaviors.
