Abstract

The problem is that women aged 40-50 years experience psychological changes such as decreased levels of concentration and cognitive function, especially for a worker. The aim is to determine the level of concentration and cognitive function of working women aged 40-50 years following Zumba and yoga exercises. Observational research method with cross sectional design. The research subjects were 20 working women aged 40-50 years, using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used a concentration grid exercise questionnaire and a mini mental state examination. The result is that the Zumba class has very little concentration (60%) and less concentration (40%). The yoga class has very less concentration (20%) and less concentration (80%). The results of the Zumba class cognitive function tests in the normal category have a percentage (60%) and the probable category of cognitive impairment (40%). The results of cognitive function in the yoga class in the normal category have a percentage of (90%) and the probable category of cognitive impairment (10%). In conclusion, the concentration level of working women aged 40-50 years is mostly in the very low concentration category. The results of the cognitive function of the Zumba and yoga classes were mostly in the normal category.

Abstract

Kabaddi is a complex game with high intensity, where each player must have good aerobic and anaerobic capacity. Considering the playing position, body composition needs to be taken into account, because ideal body composition is a determining factor in an athlete's performance. This study aims to determine the body composition of kabaddi players and compare the characteristics of muscle mass (kg) and fat percentage (%) between raiders and defenders. This study uses a comparative quantitative method with a sample size of 19 kabaddi athletes from East Java. Body composition measurements were taken using InBody H20, which measures muscle mass and fat percentage. Data analysis was performed using the t-test with the help of SPSS software. The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference in muscle mass between raiders and defenders (p=0.223), and there was no significant difference in fat percentage (p=0.930). The conclusion is that even though the raider and defender positions have different roles, the balance between muscle mass and body fat percentage is one of the factors that supports optimal performance. Due to the complementary and dynamic playing patterns in kabaddi, athletes from both positions have almost equivalent physical requirements, which leads to similar body compositions. Keywords: kabaddi, body composition, muscle mass, fat percentage

Abstract

Background: Evidence shows that the level of physical activity of adolescents in the world is still very lacking, while physical activity itself has a holistic effect, both physically and mentally, including on one's life satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and student life satisfaction. Methods: Correlational research was used in this study. A total of 58 students of Jogoroto 1 Junior High School (JHS) consisting of 29 boys and 29 girls. SLSS and IPAQ-SF instruments were used in this study and data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics and Spearman's rho rank correlation test. Results: he correlation test results showed a positive correlation coefficient and significance less than 0.05 between physical activity and student's life satisfaction, both in terms of METs value (r=0.875, p=0.000<0.05) and physical activity category (r=0.929, p=0.000<0.05). Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between physical activity and student's life satisfaction. The higher the level of physical activity, the higher the level of student's life satisfaction.

Abstract

Background: As older adults age, they experience a decrease in muscle mass and strength (sarcopenia), which increases the risk of falls and impacts morbidity, mortality, and quality of life. However, evidence on the relationship between handgrip strength and balance, as measured using the timed up and go test, in community-dwelling older adults is still limited, particularly in Indonesia. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between handgrip strength and balance in older adults. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design. The sample size in this study was 35 female individuals who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The handgrip strength test used a handgrip dynamometer. Meanwhile, the balance test was measured with a time up and go test. Data normality analysis used the Shapiro Wilk test method (p-value > 0.05), and Pearson correlation to analyze the relationship between two variables (p-value < 0.05). Results: There was a significant negative correlation between the average right HGS (16.63 kg) and TUG (p-value 0.001 and r-value -0.600) and the average left HGS (15.39 kg) and TUG (p-value 0.002 and r-value -0.513). Conclusions: :  This study shows that dominant handgrip strength in community-dwelling older women is significantly correlated with balance and mobility. These findings expand the evidence in Indonesia that dominant handgrip strength has the potential to be used as an early screening indicator for functional mobility in older adults.
