Abstract

Indonesia, as a developing country, generally has more people who are active or work primarily as farmers with middle to lower family economic status and low levels of knowledge. In particular, knowledge of the importance of daily nutritional needs is not very good. Increasing knowledge of daily nutritional needs is very necessary in order to make people aware of the importance of adequate nutrition for the development of the next generation. Various nutritional sources that can be used to increase nutritional intake, and have relatively cheap prices and can be reached by all groups. It is common knowledge that livestock products have complete nutritional content and high levels of nutrition. Among the livestock products that have quite high quality at affordable prices are eggs. Eggs can be used as a complementary source of nutrition, because eggs are an animal product that is rich in nutrients and easily digested by the human body. This community service is carried out in high school with the target of students so that they gain knowledge regarding the importance of nutritional needs for their physical and non-physical development. The results of implementing community service at SMK N 7 Southwest Maluku school went well in accordance with the strategy that had been prepared by the service team. The implementation of community service is generally divided into four sessions, namely the pretest session, the session providing service materials, the posttest session, and the awarding session.

Abstract

The socialization process is an effort by the livestock study program to introduce and get closer to the community outside. Implementation of community service for the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency was carried out at the SMK. The service approach is carried out by coming directly to the target school and having the theme of the school principal then discussing the purpose of the activities of the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency. Meanwhile, the second stage was implementing community service by presenting socialization material for the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program, Southwest Maluku Regency. This process of community service is specifically for students of SMK.N 7 Southwest Maluku who are in grade 3 so that the aim of introducing the Animal Husbandry Study Program can be clearer and is expected to become a benchmark for them to be able to continue their studies in the PSDKU UNPATTI Animal Husbandry Study Program Southwest Maluku Regency. Results of the implementation of socialization in vocational schools. N 7 Southwest Maluku is running well according to what has been designed together with the livestock study program service team.

Abstract

Lakor Island is one of the islands located in Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD). Lakor Island also has local livestock plasma nurfah that has been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the local livestock plasma nurfah is Lakor goats. Lakor goats are one of the local goat groups whose base is on Lakor Island, Southwest Maluku Regency, Maluku Province, and have been determined through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number 2912 / Kpts / OT.140 / 6/2011 dated June 17, 2011. Therefore, the livestock must be maintained and its population preserved so that it does not become extinct and run out, but the problem often faced by farmers on Lakor Island is the lack of feed in the dry season, to answer this problem in this community service will try to utilize agricultural waste, namely cassava skin as an alternative feed for goats on Lakor Island. The problem raised in this community service program is that the community does not utilize cassava skin waste as animal feed because they do not have knowledge about the utilization of cassava skin waste as animal feed. cassava peel is known as waste from cassava or cassava that has been peeled. cassava peel can be used as animal feed. the purpose of this community service is to utilize cassava peel waste as goat feed. Related to the main problems that have been mentioned, this community service program will offer a solution that is expected to be new information or knowledge to the community on Lakor Island about the use of cassava peel waste as animal feed. The hope of this community service program is that the community on Lakor Island will have new knowledge so that they can utilize cassava peel waste as animal feed, so that it can be an alternative feed that can be given to goats.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis risiko produksi dan risiko pemasaran serta menentukan strategi pengembangan usaha broiler di Kecamatan Moa Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei. Sebanyak 5 peternak broiler terpilih secara purposive sampling dijadikan sebagai responden dengan pertimbangan merupakan pihak yang secara langsung terlibat dalam usaha broiler. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dengan menggambarkan risiko-risiko usaha ternak broiler di Kecamatan Moa Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya yang meliputi risiko produksi dan risiko pemasaran. Analisis selanjutnya adalah analisis SWOT untuk menganalisis strategi dalam mengatasi risiko usaha broiler. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sumber risiko produksi yang terdapat pada usaha peternakan broiler di Kecamatan Moa Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya adalah faktor cuaca, penyakit dan stres pada broiler. Sedangkan risiko pemasaran yang dihadapi saat ini adalah kurangnya networking atau jaringan kerjasama serta skala usaha yang masih skala kecil sehingga pemasarannya belum terlalu luas, adanya tekanan persaingan dari peternak broiler yang semakin banyak. Setelah mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor internal dan eksternal yang menjadi kekuatan (strengths), kelemahan (weaknesses), peluang (opportunities) dan ancaman (threats) dalam usaha peternakan broiler di Kecamatan Moa Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya maka dapat ditemukan 12 strategi alternatif yang dapat menjadi dasar pertimbangan. ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze production risk and marketing risk as well as to know and determine alternative strategies in the broiler farming business in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency. The design used in this research is survey design. There were 5 broiler farmers in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency. All farmers were used as respondents in a purposive manner because the respondents were parties directly involved in the broiler farming business there. The data analysis technique used in this research was descriptive analysis by describing the risks of broiler farming in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency, which included production risks and marketing risks. The next analysis was a SWOT analysis to identify strategies for overcoming broiler business risks. Based on the results of research and discussion, it could be concluded that the sources of production risk in broiler farming in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency were weather factors, disease, and stress in broiler chickens. While the marketing risks faced at this time were the lack of networking or cooperation networks and the scale of business that was still small scale so that marketing was not too broad, there was competitive pressure from more and more broiler breeders. After identifying internal and external factors that become strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the broiler farming business in Moa District, Maluku Barat Daya Regency, 12 alternative strategies were found as a basis for consideration.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of breeders in the detection of heat and determination of mating time in Moa buffalo mothers in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency. This research is planned to take place for 1 month from September to October 2024 in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency. Determination of sample villages by purposive sampling by considering the density of buffalo population and in accordance with the geographical villages/hamlets on Moa island, namely the western region (Pati and Werwaru villages), the central region (Klis and Nyama villages), and the eastern region (tounwawan and Poliwu). The number of respondents interviewed was 60 people. Data collection was carried out by interview. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling with the criteria of having at least 3 female buffaloes and at least 1 male and having been in the business for more than 5 years. Observational variables included: breeder's ability to detect lambing, post partum mating timing, and mother productivity including: age at first mating, pregnancy rate, birth rate, post partum mating and preweaning mortality. The data obtained were tabulated, analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis by calculating the percentage, average and standard deviation. The results showed that 58.33% of farmer respondents in Moa Sub-district, Southwest Maluku Regency had knowledge and ability in the moderate category in detecting lambing, 40.00% of farmers had knowledge and ability in the low category, and 1.67% of farmers had knowledge and ability in the good category. 100% of farmer respondents in Moa Sub-district, West Maluku District did not have the knowledge and ability to determine the right mating time after parturition. The potential productivity of Moa buffalo mothers is as follows: age at first mating 37.17 ± 2.42 months, pregnancy rate 77.20%, birth rate 97.66%, post partum mating 12.47 ± 0.85, and preweaning mortality 19.76%.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) merupakan istilah yang telah dikenal luas yang biasanya diasosiakan sebagai perkumpulan ibu-ibu yang memiliki kegiatan positif. PKK adalah organisasi kemasyarakatan untuk memberdayakan perempuan dan berpartisipasi dalam pembangunan kesejahteraan Indonesia. Desa Moain merupakan salah satu desa yang terdapat di Kecamatan Moa dan memiliki kelompok PKK yang aktif melakukan berbagai kegiatan guna menggerakkan dan membina masyarakat dengan sasaran keluarga sebagai unit terkecil dalam masyarakat untuk mewujudkan keluarga sejahtera. Ternak sapi merupakan salah satu sumber utama daging yang bisa diolah menjadi berbagai macam produk makanan yang bernilai gizi tinggi. Pemanfaatan daging sapi sudah banyak dilakukan menjadi beberapa produk olahan seperti bakso, nugget, sosis, rendang, sate, dendeng, corned beef dan juga abon daging sapi. Pada kegiatan PKM ini, produk olahan yang dibuat adalah bakso daging sapi. Bakso adalah makanan populer di Indonesia yang terbuat dari daging sapi giling yang dicampur dengan tepung dan bumbu-bumbu, kemudian dibentuk menjadi bola-bola kecil. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah sebagian masyarakat, khususnya ibu-ibu rumah tangga belum memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam membuat bakso. Oleh karena itu, diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan pelatihan ini dapat memberi tambahan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam mengolah daging sapi menjadi produk bakso yang bergizi, sehat dan nikmat. Kegiatan ini melibatkan ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang tergabung dalam kelompok PKK di desa Moain. Kegiatan pengabdian diawali dengan survei potensi desa, pengumpulan data, sosialisasi tentang produk bakso dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan teknik pengolahannya serta praktik demonstrasi pembutan bakso. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini berlangsung dengan baik dan mendapat respons positif dari para peserta. Keinginan mereka untuk mempraktikkan pembuatan bakso sendiri menunjukkan antusiasme serta potensi keberlanjutan dari kegiatan PKM ini

Abstract

Poultry business has excellent market prospects, because it is supported by the characteristics of products received by the community, affordable prices with access that are easily obtained because it is already a public good. This commodity also plays a real role in food security both in the countryside and in urban areas. Nationally, the poultry industry is the main trigger for the development of business in the livestock subsector. In addition, the development of livestock business both small farms / people and livestock industry is caused by public awareness of the nutritional needs of animal origin. Therefore, it is necessary to develop both livestock businesses, both small businesses and livestock industries. The purpose and benefits of this field skill practice are to observe directly the types of feed given to laying hens, and add insight in preparation for the world of work. In addition, comparing the theory obtained with the conditions on the field. The time of Field Skills Practice activities starts from January to February 2021 at the laying hen farming business in Patti Village, Moa Island, Southwest Maluku Regency. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the FEEDING SYSTEM has not been categorized as good. This is because feeding does not take into account the needs of chicken / tail / day. Therefore, it can affect the level of egg productivity can decrease.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penggunaan media pembelajaran FarmQuest, sebuah board game edukatif berbasis simulasi dalam meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Produksi Ternak Sapi Perah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi-experiment) yaitu one group pretest-posttest design tanpa kelompok kontrol. Subjek penelitian adalah sembilan orang mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Peternakan PSDKU Universitas Pattimura di Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi tes tertulis untuk mengukur aspek kognitif, kuesioner persepsi berbasis skala Likert untuk menilai respons afektif mahasiswa, serta lembar observasi untuk menilai partisipasi selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan rata-rata nilai pretest ke posttest dari 62,5 menjadi 83,2, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05). Data kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa merasa pembelajaran menjadi lebih menyenangkan, interaktif serta membantu pemahaman konsep-konsep teknis. Observasi lapangan juga mencatat peningkatan partisipasi aktif mahasiswa dalam diskusi, pemecahan masalah dan pengambilan keputusan selama penggunaan media FarmQuest. Media ini terbukti mampu mengintegrasikan aspek kognitif, afektif dan sosial dalam pembelajaran serta menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik. Oleh karena itu, FarmQuest merupakan alternatif media yang potensial untuk diterapkan dalam kurikulum pembelajaran praktis di bidang peternakan, terutama untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual, keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kesiapan mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan di dunia kerja.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Level Kotoran Kerbau Sebagai Pupuk Kandang Terhadap Pertumbuhan Rumput Raja (Pennisetum purpurophoides). Penelitian ini berlangsung selama 1 bulan dari bulan November sampai dengan bulan Desember 2024 di lahan Hijauan Makan Ternak (HMT) Program Studi Peternakan PSDKU Universitas Pattimura Kabupaten Maluku Barat Daya. Prosedur penanaman meliputi persiapan stek rumput raja, persiapan lahan atau media tanam, pemberian pupuk, penanaman stek, penyiraman, perawatan dan pemeliharaan, dan pengamatan. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Jika terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan, maka akan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Variabel yang diamati antara lain: jumlah tunas, panjang daun, lebar daun, dan tinggi tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P2 yaitu pemberian 500 gram kotoran kerbau sebagai pupuk kandang memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap rata-rata jumlah tunas, panjang daun, lebar daun dan tinggi tanaman rumput raja.

Abstract

Moa merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di bagian timur pulau Moa, kehidupan masyarakatnya sebagian besar memiliki mata pencaharian utama sebagai petani. Usaha yang saat ini ditekuni oleh masyarakat desa setempat adalah usaha tanaman sayuran. Hasil survei awal di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa usaha tanaman sayuran umumnya dilakukan oleh perempuan dengan pupuk yang digunakan yaitu pupuk kandang atau kotoran ternak. Pengolahan pupuk yang sederhana oleh perempuan petani sayur selama ini tentunya dapat mempengaruhi rendahnya produksi tanaman sayur. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari ukuran sayuran yang dihasilkan lebih kecil. Salah satu penyebab rendahnya produksi tanaman sayuran adalah proses pengolahan pupuk organik dari kotoran ternak yang masih dilakukan secara sederhana. Selain itu, masih terbatasnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani mengenai cara pembuatan pupuk kompos yang berkualitas dari kotoran ternak. Berdasarkan permasalahan di atas, maka perlu dilakukan pengabdian pemberdayaan perempuan melalui pembuatan kompos dari kotoran kerbau dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan perempuan petani sayuran melalui pelatihan pemanfaatan kotoran kerbau sebagai kompos untuk meningkatkan produktivitas tanah atau lahan pertanian. Pembuatan kompos dari kotoran ternak akan dapat memberikan nilai tambah pada limbah itu sendiri, mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan dan sekaligus memberikan hasil kompos yang berkualitas yang dapat meningkatkan produksi pertanian dan pada akhirnya meningkatkan pendapatan petani.
