Abstract

Natural feed is an initial feed that has a complete nutritional content and is closer to the biological needs of fish larvae, one of which is Tubifex sp. Tubifex sp is a type of natural feed that is very important in freshwater aquaculture activities, especially for catfish hatcheries. Tubifex sp. has a fairly high nutritional content, 57% protein, 13.3% fat, 2.04% crude fiber, 3.6% ash content and 87.7% water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermentor dosing on tofu dregs as a Tubifex sp. culture medium on population and biomass growth rates. This research was conducted in August - October 2023 located in the laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Riau University. The research method used was an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The fermentor dose used was in the treatment P0 (0.0 ml), P1 (0.5 ml), P2 (1.0 ml), P3 (1.5 ml). The results of this study indicated that the dose of fermentor on tofu dregs as a culture medium for Tubifex sp. had a significant effect (P<0.05) on population and biomass. The highest population and biomass were found in treatment P2, with a population of 13519 ind and a biomass of 49.52 grams which were reared for 56 days. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that giving fermenter doses to tofu dregs as a Tubifex sp. culture medium can increase population and biomass.

and Marine Faculty of Riau University. The research aim is to determine the effect of Recombinant Growth Hormone (rGH) with optimal doses based on different age and immersion duration on growth and survival rate of Bonylip Barb larvae. The method used was Completely Randomized Design Factorial with 2 factors. The first factor was larvae age with 3 levels, namely 5 days (U5), 7 days (U7) and 9 days (U9). The second factor is . the immersion time with 4 levels, namely 0 minutes (P0), 10 minutes (P10), 20 minutes (P20) and 30 minutes (P30). Larvae was kept for 40 days in an aquarium with a density of 2 fish/L. From the result of research showed that recombinant growth hormone (rGH) with different larvae age and immersion time affected the growth of Bonylip Barb absolute weight and length, specific growth rate, and also survival rate of larvae. The treatment of 9 days of larvae age (U5P30) showed the highest growth, namely absolute weight and 60 minutes immersion time showed the highest growth, namely absolute weight 1,08 g, absolute length 4,48 cm, specific growth rate of 16,10/day, and survival rate 94,43%. The parameter of water quality during the research was 26,5-27,8°C, pH 5,0-6,5, and dissolved oxygen 4,0-5,3 mg/L.

Abstract

Abstract

Gourami (Osphronemus gouramy L, 1801) is one of the freshwater fish commodities with high economic value that has slow growth. The feed used is still very minimal so the growth rate of gourami fish is slow. One approach that can be taken to increase the growth and nutritional value of gourami fish is by adding nutrients in the form of omega-3 salmon fish oil to the feed. This study aimed to evaluate the enrichment of commercial feed with omega-3 in increasing the growth and nutritional value of gourami fish carcasses. This study was carried out from May to July 2023 at the Laboratory of Marine Microbiology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) experimental method with 4 experiments and 3 replications, the experiments used were, P0 (without fish oil), P1 (salmon oil 5g/kg), P2 (salmon oil 10g/kg), P3 (salmon oil 15 g/kg). The fingerlings were raised for 60 days with a stocking density of 20 fish/container. The results showed that enrichment of feed with salmon fish oil significantly effect (P<0.05) on growth rate and increased nutritional value. Experiment P3 (salmon oil 15g/kg) produced a higher growth rate compared to other treatments, namely absolute weight of 9.05+0,76 g, absolute length of 4.80 cm, specific growth rate of 1.16+0,07 %, feed conversion ratio of 2.4+0,24%, efficiency feed of 40.5+4,0%, hepatosomatic index of 3.3+0,11%, viscera somatic index of 3.6+0,22%, mesenteric fat index of 3.2+0,06%, EPA of 2.85%, and DHA of 2.31%. In conclusion, adding salmon fish oil increases the growth and value of EPA and DHA in gourami fish meat. Water quality parameters were considered good with a temperature of 28-32oC, pH of 5.2-6.7, DO of 6.5-8.5 mg/l, and NH3 of 0.14-0.85 mg/l.Keywords: Feed Enrichment; Gourami Fingerlings; Growth; Nutritional Value
