Abstract

Dug wells are the main source of clean water supplies for people living in rural and urban areas of Indonesia. The clean water used by the people of the Panjang Kapuh Desert generally comes from dug wells and drilled wells. In Village Gurun Panjang Kapuh, there are many dug wells that do not meet the construction requirements of dug wells, so they can pose a risk to clean water consumed by the community. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the risk of pollution and coliform content of dug well water in the Village Gurun Panjang Kapuh, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency in 2022. This research is descriptive with a population of all houses that have clean water facilities dug wells as many as 730 dug wells. Data obtained from the results of the sanitary inspection of dug wells using the sanitation inspection form, in 85 dug wells 7 samples of dug well water were taken for water biology examination (Coliform) in the laboratory. Generally, there is a high risk of contamination of dug wells (69.4%). The total biological content (Coliform) of dug well water from 7 samples, 6 of which did not meet the requirements. It is recommended to the public to make or repair the well construction so that it has a good construction to prevent contamination of dug wells. Health workers should provide counseling and supervise dug well sanitation inspections and periodically check the biological quality of dug well water.

Abstract

Global plastic production, which reached 413.8 million tons in 2023, has led to an increase in inorganic waste that is difficult to decompose. This issue calls for environmentally friendly and low-cost alternative solutions. This study aims to determine the ability of Superworms (Zophobas morio) to reduce the weight of plastic waste through the biodegradation process. The research used a quasi-experimental design with treatments on three types of plastic waste, namely High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), utilizing 200 Superworm larvae over a 30-day period. Observations were conducted every five days to measure changes in waste weight. The results showed that Superworms were able to reduce HDPE by 10.2%, LDPE by 11.8%, and EPS by 66.6%. These findings indicate that Superworms have strong potential as an effective natural biodegradation agent in reducing plastic waste, particularly styrofoam, making them an innovative solution for sustainable waste management. **Conclusion: The use of Superworms has proven effective in reducing plastic waste weight, especially styrofoam. It is recommended to optimize environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity, reduce larval mortality, and study the safety and potential use of Superworms that have consumed plastic to ensure broader and ecologically safe application.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting impacts global health, particularly in low-resource and uncertain climates. Indonesian child stunting, under-sanitation, and infectious disease meta-analysis. Discussion: Unsanitary environments and infectious disease histories are connected to stunting, we found. Food alone does not stunt. Environmental, infectious, and social factors do. Children with a history of infectious diseases had more than double the risk of stunting (pooled OR = 3.72, 95% CI: 2.05–6.73), while those with inadequate sanitation had over three times the chances. Children with inadequate sanitation and a history of infectious disorders were 3.29 times more likely to stunt than those with good sanitation and no infectious diseases. These findings suggest that poor sanitation and infectious diseases induce stunting, especially in harsh regions. Conclusion: Indonesian stunting is caused by climate change, sanitation, and infectious diseases. Ending stunting requires better sanitation, water, and infection control. Future research should examine how disease, hygiene, and climate impact effect. Public health, environmental, and community groups must collaborate to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Kata kunci: analisis data, e-modul, inovasi pembelajaran, SPSS, video tutorial _________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Background: The limited availability of interactive digital learning media makes it difficult for Environmental Health students to understand the process of statistical data processing and analysis, especially in the use of data analysis software. This condition has an impact on the low level of student independence in completing data-based academic assignments. Objective: This community service activity aims to introduce digital learning media in the form of e-modules equipped with data analysis video tutorials as a means of supporting data analysis learning for Environmental Health students. Method: The activity was carried out through several stages, including identifying participant needs, developing e-modules and video tutorials on SPSS-based data analysis, practice-based training with mentoring, and evaluation using pre-test, post-test, skills observations, and participant feedback questionnaires. Result: The implementation of the activity showed that the developed e-modules and video tutorials were easy to use, in accordance with learning needs, helped students understand the stages of data analysis more systematically, and supported students to learn independently. Conclusion: The innovation of e-modules and video tutorials on data analysis is an applicable and effective digital learning media in supporting data analysis learning for Environmental Health students.
