Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa. Kemampuan ini meminta siswa untuk mampu menuangkan gagasan dan ide-ide yang mereka miliki dalam bentuk tulisan. Kemampuan ini dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik siswa yaitu ketahanan dalam menghadapi sebuah kesulitan. Soal literasi matematika dianggap mampu membantu menggali informasi terkait kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis siswa SMP tipe camper dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematika. Penelitian dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu: 1) pemilihan kelas subjek penelitian; 2) pengembangan instrumen dan validasi; 3) pemberian angket Adversity Response Profile (ARP) dan soal tipe literasi matematika kepada siswa; 4) reduksi data; 5) analisis data dan penyajian data, serta; 6) penarikan kesimpulan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik deskriptif dengan berpedoman pada indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematika tulis. Subjek penelitian adalah 26 siswa SMP kelas XI yang selanjutnya hanya dipilih empat orang untuk dianalisis jawabannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa camper dikategorikan sudah baik dan memenuhi hampir seluruh indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis, namun masih terdapat kekurangan seperti masih adanya kesalahan penggunaan simbol matematika dan ketidaklengkapan penulisan keterangan.

Abstract

Dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika, siswa sering kali terlibat dalam kesalahan yang beragam, mencakup kesalahan fakta, kesalahan konsep, kesalahan prinsip, dan kesalahan operasi. Studi kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal hubungan antar sudut pada dua garis sejajar berdasarkan objek dasar matematika. Penelitian ini melibatkan 26 siswa dan menjadikan 3 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menginformasikan bahwa kesalahan konsep dan prinsip merupakan kesalahan yang paling sering dijumpai ketika siswa menyelesaikan soal hubungan antar sudut pada dua garis sejajar, dan selanjutnya diikuti dengan kesalahan fakta dan operasi. Menindaklanjuti temuan pada penelitian ini, maka penting bagi guru untuk mengambil pendekatan yang membangun, mendukung, dan membimbing agar guru dapat membantu siswa dalam mengatasi kesalahan dengan efektif dan memperkuat pemahaman mereka.

Abstract

Research shows that female students are generally more susceptible to mathematics anxiety than male students, although some studies have found similar or higher levels of anxiety among males in certain contexts. The research gap lies in the need for further exploration of how the interaction between gender and geographical location influences the level of mathematics anxiety. This study aims to analyze the level of mathematical anxiety among junior high school students in Makassar and Malang, focusing on various aspects of mathematics anxiety and comparing these levels based on gender. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach, involving 86 students from junior high schools in both cities. The instruments used include a mathematical anxiety identification test and a questionnaire that measures the four main aspects of anxiety. The results indicate that, overall, the mathematical anxiety of students in both cities falls within the moderate category across all analyzed aspects. Female students tend to experience higher levels of anxiety compared to male students, particularly in Malang, while in Makassar, male students exhibit slightly higher mathematical anxiety in several categories. This study highlights the need for self-regulated learning to reduce mathematics anxiety in both male and female students.

Abstract

Mental models are internal representations students form about a concept, which can be inferred through their external representations. This study aims to describe the characteristics of junior high school students' formal mental models in understanding the concept of integers. Conducted in a class of 44 seventh-grade students, this qualitative study employed a case study methodology. Subjects were selected using a purposive sampling, with two subjects chosen for in depth exploration and interviews. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that the students at the formal mental model level demonstrated the characteristics of being able to place positive integers, zero, and negative integers on a number line, compare positive and negative integers, compare two negative integers, sort integers, add and subtract integers, and sort them accordingly. By refining the characteristics of mental models of value and order of integers, and integrating Bofferding's ideas on the mental model of value and order of integers and mental model of directed magnitude, this study successfully expands the theoretical framework of students' mental models in understanding the concept of integers, extending it to include addition and subtraction operations. Practically, it provides educators with insights into the characteristics of formal mental models that seventh-grade students need to master, supporting the development of meaningful instructional strategies to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding and promote the advancement of mental models to the formal level. In addition, these findings serve as a reference for future research on students' mental models in understanding integers and performing integer operations. Abstrak Model mental diartikan sebagai representasi internal yang dimiliki siswa mengenai suatu konsep yang kemudian dapat diketahui melalui representasi eksternal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik model mental formal siswa SMP dalam memahami konsep bilangan bulat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas VII SMP yang terdiri dari 44 siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Pemilihan subjek menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yakni terdapat 2 subjek untuk dieksplorasi dan diwawancarai. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman meliputi kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik siswa pada level model mental formal adalah dapat menempatkan bilangan bulat positif, nol, dan bilangan bulat negatif pada garis bilangan, dapat membandingkan bilangan bulat positif dan bilangan bulat negatif, dapat membandingkan dua bilangan bulat negatif, dapat mengurutkan bilangan bulat, dapat menjumlahkan dan mengurangkan bilangan bulat sekaligus mengurutkannya. Dengan mempertajam karakteristik model mental nilai dan urutan bilangan bulat, serta mengintegrasikan gagasan Bofferding tentang model mental nilai dan urutan bilangan bulat dan model mental besaran terarah, penelitian ini berhasil memperluas kerangka teori tentang model mental siswa dalam memahami konsep bilangan bulat, sehingga mencakup pula operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan. Secara praktis, studi ini memberikan wawasan kepada pendidik mengenai karakteristik model mental formal yang perlu dikuasai oleh siswa kelas tujuh, mendukung pengembangan strategi pengajaran yang bermakna untuk memperkuat pemahaman konseptual siswa dan mendorong perkembangan model mental mereka ke tingkat formal. Selain itu, temuan ini dapat dijadikan acuan untuk penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai model mental siswa dalam memahami bilangan bulat dan melakukan operasi bilangan bulat.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SLR) is one of the important things in students' education and self-development. However, based on previous researchers, students' SLR abilities are still quite low. Thus, the purpose of this research is to develop mathematics learning media based on Malangan cultural ethnomathematics to support SLR for junior high school students. The research procedure uses the ADDIE development model. The results of the study obtained Etno-Pro media on valid ratio and proportion material with an average media validity of 3.15 and an average material validity of 3.18. The practicality test results through teacher and student response questionnaires obtained an average of 3.7 with high practicality criteria. As many as 90.9% of students got a complete score with an average student test score of 87.4. The results also that there was an increase in students' SLR skills. This shows that Etno-Pro media can support students' SLR.

Abstract

This research aims to describe errors and determine the factors that cause errors in solving geometry problems in terms of students' mixed Florence Littauer personality types. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this research were ninth-grade students at SMPN 13 Malang who had been given material on "similarity and congruence of triangles". Data collection techniques include questionnaires, test questions, interviews. Data analysis techniques in this research include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques through the results of test questions and interviews. The results of the research can be concluded that students with mixed natural personality types (SCA) make five errors, namely reading errors, understanding errors, transformation errors, process skills errors, and errors in writing the final answer. Students with mixed-complementary personality types (SCP) have one error, namely an error in writing the final answer. Students with the opposite personality type (SCL) experienced two errors in answering geometry questions, namely transformation errors and process skill errors. The factors that cause errors are (a) not being able to understand the geometry material well, (b) being weak in the prerequisite material, and (c) carelessness made by students when solving geometry problems.

Abstract

Graph labeling is the assigning of labels represented by integers or symbols to graph elements, edges and/or vertices (or both) of a graph. Consider a simple graph with a vertex-set and an edge-set . The order of graph , denoted by , is the number of vertices on . The prime labeling is a bijective function , such that the labels of any two adjacent vertices in G are relatively prime or , for every two adjacent vertices and in .
