Abstract

Student integration is a student’s ability to integrate into the social and academic systems of the university. Integration of students has been shown to affect how well they do on campus, which helps them finish higher education. The integration scale (IS) measures integration ability that meets the principle of simplicity. The integration scale is formed of 16 items divided into five aspects and two factors. This study aimed to adapt and validate IS instruments for the Indonesian university student population. The research methods complied with the six-step procedures the International Test Commission set out. A total of 309 participants were undergraduate students. They were between 17 and 23 years old (mean=19.42, SD=1.11 years), with 247 females (79.94%) and 62 males (20.06%). The results of the confirmatory factor analysis revealed that a total of 16 items were valid and reliable. Three models that have acceptable fits were confirmed. The results demonstrate that the Indonesian integration scale measures undergraduate student integration with comparable precision to the original scale. This scale can identify students who require academic and social integration assistance and evaluate the institution’s role in academic development.

Abstract

Abstract: The students' optimism about their future careers and education impacts their educational success. The Future Expectation Scale of Adolescents (FESA) can measure future expectations of education and student career. This study aims to adapt the scale of the FESA work and education domain to the Indonesian language and culture. The adaptation in this study follows the six-stage category of the International Commission Test. Development of adaptation items using a forward-backward translation design involving six experts. The comparability of language and content validity assessments involved nine experts. Pilot study for item evaluation involving 15 students from the target population. The quantitative testing was administered to 297 state college students. Results of the comparability assessment of language indicate that the adapted item has a similar structure and meaning. The content validity assessment demonstrates that the adapted item is already relevant, essential, and clear for measuring educational and work expectations. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) reveals that this adaptation scale has good construct validity, as indicated by the value of a good fit model that meets the criteria. Reliability based on construct reliability and internal consistency is also good. Thus, the FESA work and education domain scale version for Indonesia is valid and reliable to measure the youth's future expectations of education and work, especially among Indonesian college students. Skala the Future Expectation Scale of Adolescent (FESA) dapat mengukur harapan masa depan pendidikan dan pekerjaan pelajar.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to understand the description of mindset and self-regulated learning and the correlation between the two. This study used an associative quantitative research method with quota sampling, and 590 college students in Malang City were involved. The instruments used in this study were: (1) a mindset scale (validity score of 0.343–0.704; reliability score of 0.859); and (2) a self-regulated learning scale (validity score of 0.373–0.752; reliability score of 0.865). The results of the descriptive analysis showed that out of 590 college students, 57.79 percent had a strong growth mindset, and 67.62 percent had self-regulated learning in the high category. The hypothesis test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.593 with a significance value of 0.000, meaning a significant positive correlation exists between mindset and self-regulated learning in college students. Based on these results, it is suggested that college students can improve self-regulated learning by increasing their growth mindset. Future studies can use different research methods, such as experiments or qualitative, to learn more about mindset and self-regulated learning.
