Abstract

ABSTRACT UTILIZATION OF FISH MEAL CANNED WASTE PRODUCT ON BROILER PERFORMANCE. A research was conducted to evaluate the effects of fish meal utilization in the ration. The fish meal used canned fish waste product obtained from fish processingin Bitung North Sulawesi. This research used 60 broilers day old chick. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) cousisting of 4 treatments with 5 replications was used in this research. The treatments were 4 levels of fish meal in ration: R1=8%, R2=10%, R3=12%, and R4=14%. Biological variables measured to evaluate biological responses were feed consumption, body gain, and feed convertion. The result showed that there where no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption (2647.40g – 2758.94g) and feed convertion (2.68 – 3.02), however there was a significant effect (P<0.05) of treatment on body gain (879.80g – 1032.20g). Honestly Significant Difference test showed that 14% fish meal in ration (1032.20 g) was significantly higher compare to 8% fish meal (879.80g), however 8%, 10%, and 12% fish meal in the ration were not significantly. It can be concluded that fish meal of canned fish waste product can be used up to 14% in the ration.   Keywords : fish meal, fish canned waste, broiler performance

Abstract

ABSTRACT THE EFFECTS OF SUBSTITUTION OF  RICE BRAN AND COFFEE HULL MEAL IN RATION ON BROILER PERFORMANCE The effects of looking for alternative feed to variate feed ingredients for ration formulation is steel on going. The utilization of agricultural waste products are not maximized yet, although its availability are abundant, one of these agricultural waste products is coffee hull. The research evaluation the effects of rice bran and coffee hull meal in ration on broiler performances has been conducted at Faculty of Animal Science Unsrat Manado for six weeks using 60 broiler strain CP 707. Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replication was used. The treatments  were : R0 = substitution of rice bran   (0%) or ration with  21 % rice bran + 0% coffee hulls ; R1 = substitution of rice bran   (33.33%)or ration with 14 % or ration with +  7% coffee hulls; R2 =  substitution of rice bran   (66.66%) or ration with  7  % +   14 % coffee huls; R3 =  substitution of rice bran   (100 %)  or ration with0 % rice bran +   21 % coffee hulls. The results showed that there were significant, effects of treatments on feed consumption, body gain and feed conversion. Tukey test showed that the higher proportion of coffee hull meal the lower feed consumption and body gain, on the other land feed conversion of R3 significantly higher compared to  R0, R1and R3. Based on feed conversion it can be concluded that rice bran can be substituted by coffee hulls meal up to 66.66% or its utilization up to 14% in the broiler ration. Key words :Broiler, Rice Bran, Coffee Hull , Performance broiler.

Abstract

EFFECT OF SUBTITUTION OF BASIC RATIONS WITH PAPAYA LEAF MEAL ON BROILER PERFORMANCE.  This research aims to know the effect of substitution of basic rations with papaya leaf meal on broiler performance. Using 100 broiler chickens aged 2 weeks with an initial weight rate of 278.75 g. The design used was complete random design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The arrangement of the treatment was as follows: R0 = 100% basal ration (RB) + 0% papaya leaf meal (PLM), R1 = 95% basal ration + 5% PLM, R2 = 90% basal ration + 10% PLM, R3 = 85% basal ration + 15% PLM. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the replacement of a portion of basal rations with papaya leaf meal had a significantly different (P < 0.05) on feed intake, daily weight gain and feed conversion. Based on the results of this study, It can be concluded that the using of papaya leaf meal can replace a portion of ration until 5% level. Keywords: Performance, papaya leaf meal, broiler chickens
