Abstract

Simantri is agricultural integration activity in Bali, Indonesia covering food crops, horticulture businesses, animal husbandry, fisheries, plantations, and forestry crops in one area/activity location. The Simantri Group 733 Manah Cika Guna Bhakti Desa Baru has been formed since 2009, with available feed sources in the form of grasses that grow naturally (nature grass) and some forage plants such as gamal (Gliricidia sepium) and agricultural crop waste. Forage is the main feed for ruminants, which can be in the form of grasses or fodder plants such as legumes. Partners lack knowledge in the field of feed, especially learning about types of forage that are superior in quantity and quality, and are willing to increase the variety of quality forage sources available throughout the season. Partners also want to get special forage seeds and how to cultivate them. It is necessary to conduct action research for Simantri 733 Manah Cika Guna Bhakti Livestock Farmer Group in Banjar Dinas Baru, Baru Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, to help solve problems faced by partners by providing knowledge about superior types of forage, the introduction of technology and skills in cultivation such as land preparation, seed selection, planting, and care. This international collaboration activity was carried out well and smoothly on October 30, 2021, attended by 20 members of the Simantri group. The method used is the method of extension, active participation of farmers, and exploratory. Based on the evaluation results, the Simantri group has recognized several superior forages and has mastered the technology for the cultivation of superior types of forage. Mastery of technology reaches 80%, so it is necessary to provide further assistance to the group during the first and second cutting and preservation techniques so that the rainforest remains of good quality

Abstract

Quail is one of the poultry that has the potential to be developed as a source of diversification for meat and egg products. Bean sprouts have high levels of crude protein and crude fiber, so fermentation is necessary. The amount of ration costs range from 60-80% of all production costs. This study aims to determine the chemical quality of male quail meat given rations containing fermented bean sprout waste and to compare the various levels of bean sprout flour in the ration to the chemical quality of male quail meat. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 replications for each treatment. The treatments consisted of rations without the addition of fermented bean sprouts waste flour (TLTF) (P0), rations with 5% TLTF (P1), rations with 10% TLTF (P2), and rations with 15% TLTF (P3). The variables analyzed were water content, ash content, crude fat, and pH. The results of this study indicate that the provision of rations containing fermented bean sprout waste does not affect the quality of male quail meat.

Abstract

The KSM Penebel Berlian Waste Management Center is a non-governmental group with the aim of managing waste from households and from the traditional market of Penebel Village, which is in the form of organic waste and inorganic waste. In a day about 10 cubic feet of waste enters the KSM Penebel Berlian, 60% of which is organic waste. So far, organic waste is processed into compost, but it takes a long time while the waste is sent every day so that there is more and more organic waste and has not had time to be processed. It was also tried to process organic waste into eco-enzymes but failed because the community did not understand how it was made and the process of hardening the eco-enzym until it matured took a minimum of three months. The group wants to cultivate maggots intensively in KSM because the raw materials for maggot feed are adequate, can handle the problem of organic waste faster, odorless and involve group members. Maggot cultivation results will be used as poultry feed and fish feed, aquaculture waste will be used as organic fertilizer. Maggots are very positive to be developed into an alternative solution to the problem of organic waste without causing odors. Maggot larva of the BSF Fly (Black Shoulder Fly) which has the Latin name Hermetia illucens or black soldier fly is a large black fly and is not pathogenic. This cycle takes 40 to 45 days only. Community service activities have been running smoothly. Members of KSM Penebel Berlian have been able to independently produce BSF maggots from vegetable and fruit waste. Thus, the problem of organic waste in Penebel Village is also resolved, does not cause odors, waste does not accumulate, is handled in a shorter time with the concept of zero waste, and produces a product, namely BSF maggots that can be used as fish and poultry feed.

Abstract

Abstract. Quail is a small but fat land fowl. One of the most popular types of quail is the quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Quail is a diversified source of meat and egg products. In raising quail, the cost of feed is very high, reaching 70% of the total cost of quail production. Rice bran is an industrial waste that still has a high enough nutritional value but has the disadvantage that it contains high fiber, to overcome this, it needs to be fermented to improve the quality of the feed ingredients. The protein content of rice bran ranges from 8 -12%, rice bran is very taken into account in the preparation of poultry rations. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications. Each replication consisted of 3 quail so the number of quail used was 45. The treatments were as follows: P0 = Treatment of 100% artificial ration, P1 = Treatment of 95% ration + 5% fermented rice bran, P2 = Treatment of 90% ration + 10% fermented rice bran, P3 = Treatment of 85% ration + 15 % fermented rice bran, P4 = treatment 80% ration + 10% fermented rice bran. The data obtained will be analyzed using variance and if between treatments shows a significant effect, then proceed with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT).. The results showed that the provision of rations containing fermented rice bran had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the variables of Protein Content, Cooking Loss, and Water Holding Capacity, while the water content variable showed significant results (P<0.05). At the level of administration, 20% fermented rice bran produced the optimal chemical quality of male quail meat.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of broiler chicken meat which was given a ration containing fermented bean sprout waste flour during storage. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 factors, namely factor 1 which consisted of P0 (control ration without the addition of fermented bean sprout waste flour), P1 (ration containing 3% fermented bean sprout waste flour), P2 (ration containing 6% fermented bean sprout waste flour, and P3 (ration containing 9% fermented bean sprout waste flour).The interaction of fermented bean sprout waste and storage time showed no significant effect (P>0.05) on broiler meat quality. Storage time of broiler chicken meat at temperature 8˚C with good quality is 8 days.

Abstract

Community service is carried out to solve problems faced by the community. One of the problems local chicken farmers face is the limited quality of feed resources. Therefore, community service was provided by training on making fermented feed made from local resources as feed for native chickens. This activity was carried out in the Manuk Amerta Group, Asahduren Village, Pekutatan District, Jembrana-Bali.This activity was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UNSRAT Manado. Training activities run well and are helpful in realizing feed independence by utilizing local potential agricultural waste. Mentoring activities are still needed for program sustainability. Fermented feed has better nutritional value and is preferred by livestock to increase livestock production.

Abstract

Pigs are one of the livestock that have an important role in the lives of people in Bali, both as meat producers and also for traditional and religious ceremonies. The community service carried out at the Bangun Sari Pig Farm Group has contributed in the form of increasing partner knowledge about pig health management and cage sanitation as well as fermented feed production by utilizing plantation (vegetable) waste which is widely available in the surrounding environment. This activity was carried out on June 26, 2023 using the active participation method. The results of this service activity are that partners understand and are able to carry out animal health management and cage sanitation properly. In addition, farmers are also able to ferment plantation waste (vegetables) into quality pig feed so as to reduce commercial feed costs and increase the partner income.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan  keterampilan Kelompok Ternak Sami Mupu dalam memanfaarkan limbah kopi sebagai pakan ternak. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi survei, wawancara, penyuluhan dan praktek langsung. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan praktek penerapan teknologi fermentasi kulit kopi untuk pakan ternak ruminansia (kambing) dilaksanakan pada tanggal 3 Nopember 2023 yang diikuti oleh 18 orang anggota kelompok. Anggota kelompok sangat antusias, semangat, berpartisipasi aktif serta menyatakan bahwa praktek fermentasi kulit kopi untuk pakan ternak yang telah dilakukan sangat bermanfaat karena dapat membantu peternak dalam penyediaan pakan, memanfaatkan kulit kopi yang selama ini menjadi limbah, menambah pengetahuan peternak, meningkatkan nilai nutrisi kulit kopi, memperpanjang masa simpan kulit kopi dan sebagai sumber konsentrat bagi ternak kambing. Hasil dan kesimpulan dari kegiatan yaitu kelompok sudah menguasai teori dan praktek fermentasi kulit kopi sebagai pakan ternak.

Abstract

Petani kopi di Desa Wanagiri, Kecamatan Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng sebagian besar memelihara kambing untuk menunjang pendapatannya mengingat panen kopi bersifat tahunan. Kulit kopi yang merupakan limbah perkebunan selama ini belum termanfaatkan secara luas sebagai pakan ternak. Kelompok ternak “Sami Mupu” merupakan mitra dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berjumlah 22 orang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi terhadap pemanfaatan kulit kopi sebagai pakan ternak dan keterampilan dalam pembuatan pakan penguat untuk kambing berbentuk pellet. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah survey, penyuluhan (ceramah dan diskusi), serta demonstrasi. Pengukuran terhadap pengetahuan peternak dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa peternak telah mengetahui bahwa kulit kopi dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak kambing. Selain itu, melalui praktik langsung para peternak telah mampu membuat pakan penguat berbentuk pellet dari kulit kopi secara mandiri. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan peternak dari 35,56% menjadi 86,11% dalam hal pengolahan kulit kopi menjadi pellet untuk pakan kambing

Abstract

This community engagement project aimed to empower local microenterprises in Wanagiri Village, Buleleng, by introducing digital innovation and effective business management to enhance the production and market expansion of taro chips. Two main community partners, the PKK women's group and the Wanagiri Youth Taro Processing Group (KPT), previously relied on conventional methods with limited market reach and minimal waste utilisation. The intervention implemented a five-phase strategy: (1) socialisation and stakeholder mapping, (2) training and technology introduction, (3) hands-on practice, (4) mentoring, and (5) evaluation and sustainability planning. Key outputs included standardised hygienic production processes (GMP/SSOP), financial bookkeeping systems, digital marketing capability through social media and marketplaces, new branding and packaging, and a prototype for processing taro waste into animal feed. The program significantly improved partners' production volume, quality, digital literacy, and business sustainability. This initiative demonstrates how community-based digital innovation and management capacity building can transform local agribusinesses, increase household income, and contribute to sustainable rural development.
