Abstract

Feed is one important factor in determining the performance of poultry production, especially broiler. Increasing the quality of feed can be done by using sorghum seeds in the feed ration is supplement (substitutions) to corn, because the nutritional value is not different from corn is cheap and does not compete with human needs, easy to obtain and good quality. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) is a cereal crop that is potential for cultivation and development, especially in marginal and dry areas of Indonesia, can be used as an alternative feed for broiler. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of sorghum as a substitution of corn on the performance of broiler. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications with each replication consisted of 3 broiler CP 707, so the number of broiler in use as many as 45 broiler. The treatment was as follows: R0 = Control ration without sorghum addition, R1 =7% sorghum, R2 = 14% sorghum, R3 =21% sorghum, R4 =28% sorghum. The parameters observed were initial weight, weight gain, final weight, feed intake and feed conversion ratio. The data obtained were analysis with analysis of variance. The result of this research showed that the ration of sorghum added gave significant difference (P0,05) to the ration consumption while the feed conversion ratio had the effect (P

Abstract

Improving the quality of feed can be done by using additional feed that does not compete with human needs, has nutritional content, is easy to obtain and is cheap. Cassava flour is an alternative feed ingredient that can be used for native chickens. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. each test using 5 chickens. of the five treatments were R0 = control ration without addition of fermented cassava flour, R1 = ration containing 10% fermented cassava flour, R2 = ration containing 20% fermented cassava flour, R3 = ration containing 30% fermented cassava flour, R4 = ration containing 40 % fermented cassava flour. The parameters observed were the physical composition of the carcass of the chest and thighs which consisted of meat, bone and subcutaneous fat or skin. The data obtained were analyzed by means of variance. If there is a significant difference between treatments, it is done by using the Duncan test. The results showed that the weight of the meat, bones, skin of the breast and the weight of the thigh meat gave significantly different results (P <0.05), while the bones and skin of the thigh gave insignificant differences (P> 0.05)

Abstract

Bali pig is one of the meat-producing livestock commodities that has great potential to be developed because it has beneficial properties and abilities, but its presence on the island of Bali has begun to decline and is only found in certain areas such as in Buleleng, Karangasem, and Klungkung Regencies. Bali's pig population in Bali Province from 2017-2019 decreased by 27.51%. Likewise, it also occurs in Buleleng Regency by 26.09% and in Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency by approximately 50%. Some of the factors that influence this decline include feed management and the farming system. Likewise, related to the provision of animal feed ingredients derived from food crops such as corn, bananas, and peanuts, the partners have not really understood in an effort to increase the productivity of these food crops as animal feed. Based the enormous potential and opportunity for Balinese pigs and felt very profitable by the Suka Nadi Peasant Women's Group (KWT) in Pejarakan Village which is located 145 km from the provincial capital with a total of 28 members now still doing Balinese pig farming business on a small scale/household even though it experiences a mortality rate of 25% because in its maintenance it is still with an extensive farming system and makeshift feed. The death of the livestock is caused by being crushed by the mother and getting sick because the livestock lacks the nutrients and feed provided. The problem is that partners do not really understand efforts to increase the productivity of Bali pig livestock, especially regarding the management of the provision and feeding of their livestock. The solution provided is to provide an understanding of knowledge and skills about efforts to increase the productivity of local pig livestock, especially regarding the management of the provision and feeding with fermented feed technology and efforts to increase the productivity of food crops as animal feed ingredients. The method were surveys, interviews, discussions, counseling/training in theory and practice as well as monitoring and evaluation. The output produced is that partners have understood about efforts to increase the productivity of Bali pigs and food crops (corn) as animal feed ingredients and are able to make fermented animal feed so that the provision of feed is more quality, effective and efficient and the partners have a place to make small-scale fermented feed/households.

Abstract

Abstract

Community service is carried out to solve problems faced by the community. One of the problems local chicken farmers face is the limited quality of feed resources. Therefore, community service was provided by training on making fermented feed made from local resources as feed for native chickens. This activity was carried out in the Manuk Amerta Group, Asahduren Village, Pekutatan District, Jembrana-Bali.This activity was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UNSRAT Manado. Training activities run well and are helpful in realizing feed independence by utilizing local potential agricultural waste. Mentoring activities are still needed for program sustainability. Fermented feed has better nutritional value and is preferred by livestock to increase livestock production.
