Abstract

This research was conducted to determine whether there are significant differences in student learning outcomes using the Project-Based Learning model with and without simurelay software in the class XI Electric Motor Installation subject at SMKN 1 Bukittinggi. In the learning process for Electric Motor Installation at SMKN 1 Bukittinggi, the use of the Project-Based Learning model has not been implemented properly and still uses the lecture method, so learning focuses on educators which causes students to be less active and can reduce student learning outcomes. The Project-Based Learning model assisted by simurelay software increases student activity so that student learning outcomes increase and learning objectives are achieved. The type of research used is comparative research with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects in this research were class XI students at SMKN 1 Bukittinggi in the 2023/2024 academic year. The instruments used in this research are pre-test and post-test (performance test). The research results obtained are that there is a significant difference in learning outcomes between learning using the Project-Based Learning model assisted by simurelay software and learning without simurelay software.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the influence of a Problem-Based Learning model or method on student learning outcomes in the Air Conditioning Installation Systems subject at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. The subjects of this research were class XII TPTU students consisting of 25 students. Low student scores can be influenced by the implementation of learning models that have not optimized students' active role in the learning process. Therefore, research was conducted that utilized the problem-based learning model as a strategy to achieve more effective learning, to increase student achievement of learning outcomes. The analysis techniques used in this research are students' classical learning completeness and effect size analysis. This type of research is pre-experimental (pre-experimental) with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. Based on the results of the research carried out, it can be concluded that the use of the Problem-Based Learning model is very influential in class XII TPTU SMKN 1 West Sumatra. This can be seen from the average pretest score is 66.28 and the average posttest score is 84.8. The calculation of Cohen's effect size analysis is 2.03, which shows a large category since the Problem-Based Learning model was used, and by calculating the completeness of student learning outcomes on the post-test score, a percentage of 88% was obtained, exceeding the classical completeness criteria set at 85% on high success criteria. . Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that the application of the problem-based learning model (Problem-Based Learning) has proven successful in improving the learning outcomes of class

Abstract

This study addresses the limitations in current learning tools for vocational machining skills, which impede active engagement, independent study, and optimal learning outcomes. To address these challenges, an e-module for Lathe Machining Engineering was developed using a Service Learning approach to enhance learning effectiveness through valid, practical, and effective instructional resources. The development followed the ADDIE model, encompassing Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Data were collected from teachers, subject-matter experts, and students to assess the e-module's validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. The e-module was found to be valid across multiple criteria: content feasibility (0.85), presentation quality (0.86), language suitability (0.82), Work-Based Learning (WBL) alignment (0.94), and incorporation of the Service Learning approach (0.83). Practicality was high, with student and teacher responses averaging 90.8%. Effectiveness, measured by a gain score of 0.60, fell in the medium category, indicating improved learning outcomes. The findings suggest that the Service Learning-based e-module is a robust learning medium for enhancing machining competencies in vocational education. Its integration of active learning principles addresses gaps in engagement and independent study, supporting its practical application in technical education settings. The Lathe Machining Engineering e-module, grounded in a Service Learning approach, is valid, practical, and effective. Future research should explore its long-term impact on student performance and adaptability across diverse technical disciplines.
